Madison did an excellent job on my hair. I’ve been seeing the same stylist for over a decade but recently moved to Arizona, I’ve been hesitant to let anyone touch my hair but Madison was so attentive, asked lots of great questions, talked through the whole process with me to make sure I was comfortable, was very personable and sweet. I can’t wait to get back in her chair for my next service! She’s really a wonderful stylist! I would recommend her to anyone!

I’ve been a very happy guest of Pure Mettle for years and decided to treat myself to a straight razor shave today. Such an amazing experience! What a great experience! It was my first time in a full service salon after many years of quick service hair cut places. The salon space is gorgeous and very well maintained and clean, and the location is easy to find. There is coffee, tea, and water available for anyone who may be waiting for someone to receive service (or if you have a longer service on the books). Michael, the owner, made me feel so welcome and is simply a wonderful person! I decided to go with his recommendation for what to do with my hair, and I certainly made the right choice. The cut made me look about 7 years younger and left me feeling amazing! My wife also received a haircut from Maria, who is exceptionally talented and so kind! My wife has been to other salons in the past, but I don't think anyone has ever given her a haircut that has been so "what she wants". I've already booked my next appointment and know I'll be back regularly! Highly recommended! If you're on the fence, dive in. You won't be disappointed.

I was visiting Tucson for a conference and needed a blowout. I am SO glad I went to Pure-Mettle. Easy to book online, and Maria did an amazing job. She mentioned that a good blowout should last 5 days (I was skeptical, I have never had a blowout last that long!)...well, her blowout lasted me 5 days, I couldn't believe it. She was so friendly and pleasant to spend an hour with. Very reasonably priced, friendly, skillful service, truly excellent, I only wish I had Pure-Mettle and Maria where I live.

My hair was in rough shape before Michael worked his magic. He fixed the terrible hair cut I had before and the color is just insanely beautiful. He listened to what I liked and disliked and gave me exactly what I wanted and needed. Michael and the entire staff were super friendly and attentive offering drinks and snacks. Michael also spent the time to educate me on certain things that will and won’t work on my hair. Another plus is I felt the chairs and sink bowls are plus size friendly and very comfy! Will recommend this place to anyone.

I absolutely loved my haircut that I received with Danni! The entire time it was really relaxing due to the music and overall vibe to the salon. Danni asked me questions about what I thought throughout the process and anything that I may want changed. I really appreciated the communication as I felt quite involved too! Things didn't feel rushed and I also appreciated how she took her time while doing my hair. Sometimes hairstylists can rush due to a time crunch, but here I felt really focused on! It was the first time since coming to Tucson that I enjoyed my experience at a hair salon! I've had issues before at other places but I trusted the process and Danni absolutely delivered. I am super happy with my haircut and will be coming back to Danni in the future and to Pure-Mettle! I know there are a lot of exclamation points, but I cannot tell you how happy I am with my experience. I chatted with Michael (the owner) afterwards and he was so nice and really welcoming! It reminds me a lot of the atmosphere back home in Canada. I will definitely be back and highly encourage others to try getting their hair cut here. The prices are quite affordable compared to other places and the quality is quite astounding. Out of all the hair cuts that I've received in my life this is definitely up there tied with ones that I would receive back home from my previous stylist (before they moved away to another city). It's the first time since my old stylist that I've been able to have my hair cut how it used to be and I'm so happy. Thank you so much!

What I look for in a salon is good communication and this place knocked it out of the park. I felt that I had a real conversation with ideas and questions asked on both sides before we started cutting. For some context , I’m a man with a longer style cut and they managed it super well. In addition, I found the staff super charming and I love the ambiance of the place. Quote of the day: A haircut is “pure physics and geometry” hahaha. I’ll be back.

I am more than impressed with the salon ambiance, warm welcome, skill set, attention to detail, listening to me the clients needs/wants and not to mention experience at this salon!!! Do yourself a favor do not walk but RUN to Pure Mettle!!! Michael the owner is hands down a talent! He is kind, relatable and most importantly skilled at his craft. Pure-Mettle Magic. I decided it was time to change my look after 22 years of long-hair. I was nervous and unsure about what I wanted, what my hair would do, and how I’d feel about it. From the moment I walked into Pure-Mettle I felt comfortable and at ease. In addition to being a phenomenally talented stylist who understands hair better than anyone I’ve ever met…Michael is kind, gracious, patient, caring, genuine, inquisitive. He was passionate about understanding me, my hair, my style, and guiding me to a new look that I absolutely love. Michael is an artist. A teacher. A deep and intuitive listener. He made me feel beautiful, inside and out, and gave me the absolute best haircut I’ve ever had. I left feeling confident, grateful, and excited for the next time I get to watch him create art with my hair. Michael is amazing and Pure-Mettle is Magic!

They were super nice and did a good job on my hair! I asked for a partial honey blonde highlight, and the blowout was sooo good. They were a bit slow, so I recommend canceling afternoon plans if you’re getting a highlight.

Was amazed by this salon, the atmosphere, and the employee attitudes. The biggest standout to me though was the salon owner’s integrity and pride in his work. After arriving, I was immediately welcomed by multiple team members, including the salon owner, Michael. I requested a very late booking within ~48 hours of my appointment time with the first available stylist. While my stylist did very well, she was still new to the workforce and just beginning her career. Multiple senior stylists provided assistance during my experience, but it was the attentiveness of Michael and the pride in his work/business that will keep me returning. With my late booking time, I expected a less-experienced stylist, which was fine by me. However, I wasn’t expecting my experience to be completely oversaugh by Michael, who I heard (eavesdropping) was actually traveling cross county the next day to teach hairdressing techniques. Michael stepped in during multiple points of my experience to offer opinions, teaching opportunities, and tips to my stylist and I. He, and my stylist, made sure that I left happy and feeling gorgeous! I don’t normally leave reviews, but I have a soft spot for people who genuinely take pride in their work and business, and for people who have patience and empathy to newcomers in their profession (since we’ve all been there at some point!). This is a great local business to support, with people who truly want to provide the best service possible and who care about your experience and seek to uplift the community.

Just got my hair cut and styled. It was such a great experience. Dani did a fantastic job. She listened to me. We discussed possible low lights next time and she understood perfectly what I was thinking of even tho I didn't give the best description. She had excellent advice for hair maintenance also. Michael was also very welcoming, helpful and gracious. I would happily recommend Pure-Mettle and the staff to anyone. My cost was haircut, style and several products.

Okay, not gonna lie, the outside looked kinda sketchy with it being a plain metal building. But woah when you walk inside! Very clean and neat space with great ambiance. Comfy chairs and sinks. And the products smelled fantastic! Danni did my hair and she did amazing! Started with a consultation and she made sure I was happy with what I was getting every step of the way. Gentle hands and a calm demeanor. I couldn't recommend her more! Definitely will be coming back for color in a couple of weeks!!!

Highly recommend!!! I see Leah for my waxing services and she is AMAZING!! She creates a comfortable environment and is the kindest person ever. For my first wax, she was so reassuring and answered all my questions with no judgement at all. Love this place!

I am in love with this place. Not only are they good at what they do , I felt like I was at home after just a few minutes. They shared their story about how they got to where they are… and I loved it. My son has very curly hair and can never get a good cut. That changed today. We will be back and I may even make an appointment for. Myself next time I’m in town. That’s how much I like them. It’s a must try for sure.

I had a wonderful experience at this salon. I was in town for a convention and I didn't have a chance to get my haircut before I left phoenix so I did an extensive Google search last minute and found this salon. At first I was reluctant to come here because of the reviews..... with such GOOD reviews I felt like it was going to either be really really expensive or really really hard to get an appointment, or both. I ended up calling and asking either way. They had walk-in availability and I was quoted $45 for a cut, which I was okay with. Upon arrival my family and I were warmly welcomed. The woman upfront told me that due to a schedule issue the stylist who was going to give me the 45$ cut had an appointment within 20 min of my arrival. She told me that Michael, the owner was availabile but his rate was more. My husband told me to treat myself and he would pay. So I said yes and was promptly seated in Micheal's station. My family was there as spectators and were continually offered water, coffee and chocolate 🍫.... Michael even offered a tablet for YouTube videos to help my kids not be so savage. The whole experience of having Michael cut, wash and dry my hair was nothing short of amazing! This was a perfect example of the saying "you pay for what you get" in my case I got an amazing haircut and an outstanding experience! I got so many compliments on my haircut. Michael is very knowledgeable in his craft. I showed him an inspo photo and he consulted with me on several things that i had not considered, ultimately he gave me exactly what i wanted slightly tailored to me. I highly recommend this hair studio if you want amazing service! Thank you Michael, I'll be coming back for sure, even if it's a 2 hour drive!

I wish i could give more than 5 stars. I have been having a hell of a time lately in my personal life, and really needed my roots done; I need my hair fixed it was making me feel super depressed. Dani not only made that happen, but went above and beyond to make sure i walked out feeling 10x more confident than when i walked in. Run don't walk to this salon. If you are looking for a stylist with actual KNOWLEDGE look no further. Michael the owner is AMAZING! He blew me away with all the techniques he knows, never have I seen these techniques used, I was blown away to say the least. I have very complicated hair issues, it's thin, frizzy, curly, short(very few people know how to cut short hair) stubborn grays, he solved all of my issues. He knows what techniques to use on my hair so it lays properly and so my hair isn't flat on one side and puffy on the other and so it's not all fluffy on the bottom and flat on top. With the techniques he used while cutting my hair I no longer have those issues. Wonderful, beautiful, kind people work there, makes a long appointment go by fast. Try them and see for yourself. Also the prices are very reasonable for such a high end salon.

Just as important, Michael is extremely experienced and knowledgable. He shared a lot of good tips and made great recommendations for my hair and skin. I AM OBSESSED!!! My experience here was absolutely amazing! As a black woman with textured hair, I was very skeptical, because I really wanted to pamper myself, enjoy the experience, and leave with my hair looking at least somewhat decent. LET ME TELL YOU… Cash EXCEEDED my expectations! I am still in shock at the results. I got a dye serve and a SILK PRESS, and I have never seen my hair this glossy, bouncy, and full of life. For reference, I have 4A/4B hair texture, kinky curly hair. Cash made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire service, and it was just nice that I could actually enjoy the experience without feeling like I had to make sure she was doing the steps correctly for MY hair. If you are an individual with KINKY hair texture, you are in GREAT hands here. The salon owner, Michael, has really out done himself in creating an atmosphere that is welcoming, inclusive, and all about hair. It takes a special person to be able to create an atmosphere such as the one at this salon and the owner, Michael, has done just that. I typically do my hair myself and I do a great job. My mom is a hair stylist and I’ve only ever let her do my hair so this was a big step for me. My mom definitely has some competition. I will be going here from now on And If you’re reading this, you should too! Shout out to Luke at the front desk, he was also super amazing. I can’t say enough positive things about this experience. In this day and age of rushed and impersonal, stepping into Pure-Mettle last week for the first time was a refreshing experience! The care and concern for clients and even for one another was incredible. Maria offered me a smile and a drink, and Michael took his time to really listen to what would work for me. He is so talented and so kind. Afterwards I texted my daughters that I had the best haircut of my life! The entire staff works together to ensure one feels at home. Luke at the front was wonderful. Last - after three days of using Euphora products, my hair feels amazing! I found my new place! Thank you, Pure-Mettle team. <3

The experience I have had at Pure-Mettle is incomparable to any other hair salons I have been to. My hairdresser Danielle, is very talented and has taken care of me the last few visits. I was treated with the greatest care, offered refreshments, and got exactly what I wanted from my visit. I previously had an undercut which made a huge difference in my hair lengths which made my hair look blocky. Dani asked me about my hair and what I wanted but also gave me great suggestions on how to make my hair blend with layers. I feel confident now with my hair and the layers added really make a difference. The whole process was fairly quick (40mins with wash, cut, and blowout). I feel that the pricing is more than fair and affordable considering the experience in itself. I am so thankful that I found this place!

UPDATE: Michael (the owner) had me back for a cut, and it was such a wonderful experience. He gave me the cut of my dreams! He did a really good job of listening to me and talking through what I wanted. He has built such a beautiful salon and it is truly a treat to get your haircut by him. I called the salon, and there was no answer but their voicemail said that you could also text the salon number, which I did asking if they had any appointments for a haircut that day. They said yes and booked me for later that day. I showed up for my appointment and I wasn’t in their system, so they were not prepared for me at all. I don’t know if the appointment just didn’t go through, or if the person I was texting with just never entered in the appointment. I was told that they couldn’t do a full haircut, just a “tune up”, which was fine since all I really wanted was a trim. But it felt rushed since they weren’t expecting me, and I didn’t really feel like they spent enough time with me to really understand what I wanted (which was partly my bad for not speaking up for myself). I should have just rebooked another day. My hair is fine, but still not totally what I wanted. I’m sure this isn’t a normal experience due to all the wonderful reviews! I’d love to try again sometime, but my first impressions weren’t great. Salon was beautiful though! Love the aesthetic and location.
