Yikes, Jen is rude. Was so ready to love this place based on how close it is to home and how many glowing reviews I had seen! But I was running a few minutes late due to an accident on 99. Tried to call to be courteous, no answer. Ended up sliding in the door 9 minutes late and she cut off my apology and said she was waiting and about to cancel the appointment. Did she try to call or even text? No. Yes I was late but what was I supposed to do if they don't answer the phone and don't call to check with the client? I tried. I felt so unwelcome I wasn't comfortable staying and letting her touch my hair after all that. I left and won't be back.

Haircut was fine, but stylist pressed hard on getting my job information, which felt invasive. One of her first questions was: what type of *work* do you do? Then, after a while: are you done with *work* for the day? At almost the end of the haircut: so, do you *work* in tech or……? (She didn’t complete her sentence. Assumptions much?) To me, it felt odd and uncomfortable, sort of being chased by an obsessive line of questioning. Let me share what I want to share.

I love this salon! My hair always looks beautiful for a days after a service. You can really tell that all of the stylists LOVE their clients and what they do. rainier hair studio has the most welcoming vibe. My son has always hated getting haircuts, but he will go to any stylist at rainier hair studio because he says he feels like they understand him. Customer for life.

I've been getting my pixie cut from Katherine and also Cami...both are so kind and do a great cut! I love that I have two people at the one studio who I trust to cut my hair. The whole staff is incredible! 💯 recommend!

Jen Reed is wildly talented and liberated me from my shapeless long-haired blah with an easy to maintain & stylish shag. Can do for both rock shows or work meetings bc I am a 40+ professional lady in Seattle & need to navigate all the spheres. Multiple previous good experiences. Then today I was literally six minutes late to a trim appointment with a stylist I hadn't seen before (needed a last minute clean-up). I was apologizing when I got there but the response was just "I almost marked you a no-show. We need to be quick or I'll miss my lunch and I'm starving." There had been no attempt to contact me, and no hello when I got there, just that rude greeting. I highly value promptness for appointments and was already stressed from being delayed by a delivery truck blocking my driveway, so I just apologized again and left. No reason to trust someone in that mood to come near me with shears. FWIW, I have short hair and literally needed just the neckline cleaned up, a five minute job that I tip $20 for. I've included the cancellation screenshot I received after leaving, which proves I was there at 12:51. Edit 9/28/24: it's been six months with no acknowledgement of this review, so I've removed another star.

We (my almost 3 year old and I) saw Megan this morning. It was such a great experience and my kiddo got the best haircut he has ever had. Previously we have visited a kids salon in West Seattle but were never happy with the experience or haircut. Megan provided a great experience - she’s calm, patient, and friendly, plus the haircut is SO cute! My kiddo loved the toys she offered to play with during the cut and the snacks. Looking forward to our next cut!

I used to go to another shop but my stylist left so i asked a friend who they used and decided to give Rainier a go! Barry was the referred stylist, and i couldn't have been happier. Unfortunately, when I went back, I leaned he was on leave. Barry recommended Megan, the owner of the shop as a substitute, and it was great! Now I have 2 wonderful options. I am very particular about my haircut, and both of them listened and executed brilliantly! !

She will make sure your hair is perfect from every angle, in every light. And if you go home and it isn't just as you like it, come back in and she'll tweak it until it is. Whether you are looking for a walk in, or a stylist you can return to over and over again, Rainier has someone for you!

I don't have the greatest luck when it comes to finding a good hair stylist, for a multitude of reasons. A friend recommended this salon to me and I am SO grateful. Megan was incredibly kind and personable - I could tell she REALLY truly listened to what I wanted, and made it happen. I am finally feeling good about the state of my hair after almost a year or more of fumbles. Shout out to Jen also, for helping me schedule so easily last minute! I am looking forward to my next visit for sure :)

I came to Rainier without an appointment, desperate and sad, needing an emergency color correction from another salon. I was met by Jen who was so caring and sweet. She took the time to listen, validate my concerns, and assure me that everything would be okay! Megan was so amazing through the whole process and finally gave me the hair I’ve been dreaming of. She turned an awful situation into a very pleasant experience! I am so happy to have found a salon that treats you like a whole human, and not just a head of hair. You can feel the sense of dedication and care as soon as you walk-in the space. I will absolutely will be coming back!

If you are looking for someone who knows her way around a clipper, scissor cut, or something totally different, Leah Stang is the one. She’s been able to tame my coarse Asian hair and I always end up looking and feeling great. Also love the vibe at this salon much better than the temporary spot she was at. Oh yeah, did I say I would follow Leah wherever she goes?

Absolutely the best place to get your hair done in Seattle. I’ve been going to Katherine for a few years and she is a SUPERSTAR! However, I can confidently say I’d happily have any of the stylists here work on my hair at any given time. Everyone is kind and lovely and the salon is clean, priced well and the results are the absolute best. 0/10!

I went to several places in WS before I found Rainer Hair and it was a breath of fresh air. Haircuts are priced based on the service, not on your gender. Megan and her staff are friendly, super welcoming and very queer. The decor is clean and fresh, the location is easy to access by car or by public transit. Every time I walk out I feel awesome and the hair cut grows out so nicely. 10/10.

Megan let me drop in as a last minute walk-in and did an incredible job! She helped me talk through what style I was aiming for and I'm incredibly happy with the results. Cannot recommend this place enough and am very much looking forward to my next haircut here. 🌻💚
