vagaro wouldn’t let me leave a review on there, so to google i go! i just had to come and leave a review for jen! i came in for a cut and consult as a new client, and she made me feel so comfortable, and really listened to what i wanted. full of information, and with the skills to back it up! i WISH i was doing color, because jen would be my first option! for now, we’ll keep up with the shaggy pixie mullet we created today; i’m in love! thank you jen!!!

I had such a great experience while getting my haircut with Jen! I was always so nervous going into hair appointments, Jen helped me feel so comfortable! She really understood what I was wanting, and achieved it amazingly!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I would recommend red feather salon to anyone!

I absolutely love Mary. She has been cutting and coloring my hair for years upon years. When I first moved here, I could not find a stylist who understood my hair and my style goals. She has for years and years exceeded my expectations. I recently decided I wanted a change after many years. I went from long mid back hair to a shoulder lob and then we went honey blonde from my very dark brown natural hair. I LOVE IT 🥰. Thank you Mary for always exceeding my expectations.

I’ve been seeing Emily for a few years now and I wouldn’t trust anyone but her with my hair! I have extremely thick and course hair, so I have always had a hard time finding hairstylists. I recently got some highlights, and Emily did an amazing job. I have never felt confident about my hair until I started seeing Emily. And now it’s my favorite feature about myself! Also, the salon is such a good vibe, with incredible women and people supporting and accepting one another! 🌈❤️✨

Jen is INCREDIBLE. I just left and had to leave a review immediately. She is so educated, helpful and taught me so much about my hair while giving me the best haircut i’ve ever had!! I didn’t know it was possible for my hair to feel as good as it does right now. I will absolutely be back for more pampering in the future, thank you so much!!

Red feather salon is the best salon in the Sarasota area! Jen, the owner is a true professional...using quality products and truly caring about what you want for your hair! She is a professional accretted colorist, which does make a difference with colored "blonde" hair. Between the sun, and the water on Florida! You get what you pay for at the Red Feather Salon....I travel over 1 hour to Sarasota From my home. It's worth the trip!

just a note to say what a great experience I had and how much I love my hair. It’s perfect, and it’s kinda weird, and it is EXACTLY what I wanted. Mary was so kind and knowledgeable and fun. 10/10 would recommend. My texture has a big attitude so I came in natural and the cut falls perfectly for my moody do.

Emily was very thorough with her consultation of my hair. She asked a ton of questions about what my hair was like, what types of products I used, how often I washed my hair, how often I used products, etc. She knew my hair intimately before she even washed it. Then we went to the washing basin where she layered me up and massaged my scalp until I practically cried from gratitude. After my hair was clean and I was all ookie inside, we discussed how I wanted my hair cut. She listened very closely, clarifying parts she was unsure about, and as soon as she felt comfortable that she knew what I wanted, she began the process of turning my hair into exactly what I had asked for. One hour later, I put my glasses on to see exactly what I wanted to see. She listened to exactly what I said I wanted. 💯 Happy. EDIT: A month later and I'm still thrilled with my hair. That's the kind of cut I like. See photo.

I can’t praise these ladies enough! I went in on 4/1 for a cut and consult, then again on 4/6 for the color, both appointments were with Mary. All of the stylists are so attentive and spend time getting to know your individual concerns/routines/wants/needs in order to completely tailor their services for you. For the first time in my life I am completely in love with the services I’ve been provided and armed with the proper knowledge to actually care for and style my hair in a way that it looks just as good as the moment I left the chair EVERY SINGLE DAY! The salon is beautiful, clean, and comfortable and their service is unparalleled. 10 out of 10, highly recommend!

I love coming here for my curly hair. I went pixie short and am now trying to regrow it down to my waist. Emily really listens and gives me honest opinions for the style I'm trying to achieve. I love that they are all laid-back, super inclusive, and always fun. You'll feel right at home. ♡

I want to take the time to leave a review for this GEM of a place. I am a new mom and needed something fun and refreshing for my hair. As soon as I sat in Jen's chair I felt right at home. Jens knowledge of her profession mixed with her caring attitude is something that is extremely hard to find ANYWHERE. We did a fun cut and red melt to my hair and it turned out amazing!! . I want to also take the time to acknowledge the other girls working there. The shampooing and deep conditioning treatment was the best I've ever had! Deff reccomend ! So relaxing ! These girls put in the work to keep every customer happy and it shows! The salon itself is so beautiful ! If you are looking for a high quality salon this is the one!!!!

I’m sorry that I am having to write this negative review. I felt it only fair to potential customers to explain my costly experience. I’m pretty sure that Jen will wax lyrical from her perspective. It is fair that she has the opportunity to explain the situation from her side. However, from my (the client) perspective, I will try to keep this brief highlighting the relevant facts. 1. From the initial contact lots of information is gathered, giving the customer extreme confidence in the expected service. 2. Photographs of existing hair colour and style are requested. 3. History of hair, hair expectations etc. are asked for. 4. The questions are important and relevant and inspire confidence. I then received a phone call prior to booking and similar questions were asked again. A few weeks later I arrive for my appointment and the same questions are asked again AND I completed another questionnaire asking the questions again. So after all of this information and showing of pictures and requesting a particular colour, after the treatment my hair was significantly darker than I expected. I wanted a vibrant red like Charlotte Tilbury, I showed the picture of Charlotte Tilbury! Ultimately after the treatment my hair was dark brown, red tones but definitely brown - I was so disappointed. I pointed this out whilst I was still there, she put more red tone on to it, at the time I felt assured she understood - it went even darker! I gave up and headed home. That night I wrote to Jen, she did respond, not favourably. She wasn’t prepared to make anything right, she said I lied, I’m not sure at which point I lied and to what benefit I would have achieved by lying? I’m 62 years of age, I have been to different hair salons over the years and I have never been treated this way EVER. I know this salon wouldn’t want me to go back - for the record, I would go grey before I ever went back there! I have recently noticed your response to my review. I NEVER insulted you, please tell me what I said that was considered to be an insult? I’ve reviewed the emails I sent to you and can see no insult, in fact I was overly polite. I’m happy to post my emails, for people to judge. Review ping pong isn’t the way to deal with a disgruntled customer and calling anyone a liar is below the belt especially when it isn’t true!

Jenn is the most educated colorist & stylist I've ever met. She knows how everything will interact scientifically, which amazes me to this day. She asks questions each time to make sure your color is perfect and just how you want it. Usually this is an ongoing process but she nailed it the first time I went. She took the time to consult over the phone before my first visit too. A great atmosphere of employees who truly enjoy what they're doing and who they work with. You'll leave with great hair and new friends. I highly recommend Jenn for her incredible knowledge and ability to apply that knowledge to all aspects of coloring, cutting and styling. I've truly never met a stylist who understood the science behind coloring. It's fascinating to watch and listen to her explain what she's doing and why. Very passionate about what she does, meticulous, and won't let you leave unless you're happy & 100% satisfied. Definitely recommend her and her fabulous staff!

An undesirable experience. Don't go. While Jen may know her hair business, her delivery and interaction with clients lacks finesse. I was 9 minutes late and called to be polite. Only one client was in the salon. She assigned me to another stylist after waiting six weeks for an appointment with her. This was not acceptable to me, so l left. Her exchange was terse, her tone condescending and, by standing on principle, she lost what the business is built on: a repeat customer. They are hard to find and important to keep. Jen did not inform me of the change when I called and I spent time travelling to the salon. Clarity is clarity and she did not extend this courtesy to me.

I am so happy I found this salon. Jen and Emily are both highly skilled and very kind people (as is the rest of the team!). They took my hair from brown to pink, back to brown, and gave it the best haircut I’ve had in my life. A haircut is not something I thought I’d ever be applauding this much, but it REALLY changed how I felt about my hair and gave my style a refresher. They are thorough in asking what exactly it is you want, are sensitive to your time, and are very fair in price. I’ve had 3 sessions with them so far, and have 2 scheduled for this fall. I’ve never had my hair appointments on a schedule like this, but they make me want to. Money and time well spent.

I am so happy that I found this salon! Emily is my stylist and she does a fantastic job. I was nervous when I decided to go from my red hair to a vivid and she knocked it out of the park! We had a consultation before starting my service and she explained the entire process and I felt comfortable with everything she was recommending. I've done 2 different colors with her and both times she's used my inspiration photos and matched it perfectly. Anytime I'm in the salon, I also love listening to Jen talk color with her clients. I feel that everyone at the salon does a great job of discussing with clients the vision they have for their hair and making sure they do their best to achieve the results wanted. I drive 45 minutes for this salon and will continue to do so! They do a great job with fun mermaid colors!

I had my first appointment here in the last week and Emily/Jen were nothing short of amazing! The intake process to learn about what you want was very thorough and informative throughout the process. I can't say I've had that experience anywhere I've ever been. Their attention to detail and really getting to understand what you want is unmatched. I love how my color and style turned out and can't wait to go back again!

I have been a client of Jen’s for years now. There aren’t enough positive words for me to use to describe my experiences or the end products of those experiences. We’ve done a boring single color. We’ve cut and highlighted. We’ve painted fun and exciting colors in my hair. Jen is a master of her craft and only brings on stylist who share the same level of passion for hair as she does. The level of knowledge about hair that lives in that salon is out of this world. From the chemical reaction of mixing colors to cutting certain angles to achieve specific styles to going above and beyond to personally make sure the shampoo chairs are comfortable for clients, no detail is too small. Everyone is very warm and welcoming and it just feels like home. You can open up about anything and everything with not only the stylists, but sometimes the other clients in the salon. You can truly tell when someone is proud of where they work or the business they own, and you can feel by the bright light these stylists emit that their home is something special.

The first few days after my appointment my hair looked great. Then the balayage faded and my hair turned blonde when she bleached it. My hair is dry and wiry now. When I expressed my concerns, she was nice to book a complimentary follow up. After expressing that I’d be late and would be happy to reschedule, she said my complimentary booking was cancelled and she couldn’t help anymore. I would’ve happily paid for the cancellation fee and accepted the original complimentary follow up since my hair is completely messed up. However, their service over the phone was terrible. Their service on my hair was even worse. I wouldn’t recommend this place or Emily who worked on my hair to anyone.

I have been a client of Mary’s for probably around two years now and followed when she switched to Red Feather. I love supporting local and small businesses and that is what you get with both Mary and Red Feather. I have always had a wonderful experience with my appointments, if I need to reschedule, asking questions about my coloring and the process of color. I also regularly change what I do with my hair and Mary will always guide me to make sure my hair stays healthy and this is the healthiest its ever been - even while going from dark brown to blonde. If I’m not in my own conversation with Mary, I have heard conversations between Jen or other stylists with their clients. They are professional and knowledgeable and care about how they respond in educating clients. I love the hair magic they make and the family feel of the salon and business. Will always recommend.

Jen (owner) is a true magician when it comes to hair! I have never dyed my hair before and I was really nervous about having my hair bleached. She was patient and listened to my concerns and we discussed all of my different options. She is a very personalble person. Jen and her staff are very nice and an ease to be around. During the dying process and afterwards she made sure I knew how to maintain, care for and the dos and don'ts to make sure my hair keeps its vibrant color the longest. Her salon chairs are some of the most comfortable chairs I have sat in. She was very conscious about cleanliness and safety. Whether this is the first time you are getting your hair dyed or looking for a rockstar stylist, this is by far the best salon in Sarasota! I highly recommend to anyone!

Mary took the time to find out what I did not like about my current hair, what I would like to have as my haircut. How much time I wanted to spend styling every day, and made me feel very comfortable. The end result haircut is perfect. So glad I found this salon... and Mary.
