After recommending L, Crystal, and River Salon to a friend via text just now, I realized I should make my praise public. After years searching for a salon I loved, I finally found River around 2 years ago and haven't looked back. My haircuts are always exactly what I'm hoping for and the balayage is gorgeous and thoughtfully done (when L says she aims for low-maintenance hair, she means it!). Plus: I love her business model and I leave my appointment having laughed a lot. 10/10, can't wait for my next cut.

I just started going to River Salon a few month ago and I'm so, so happy with my color!! L did an amazing job with my blonde highlights (they are so natural, it looks like I went on a long sunny vacation) and I got a great cut as well. Cannot recommend L and her services enough!!!! She is a true professional and worked some real magic on me recently. She gave me an amazing new look with k-tip extensions to build up lost volume due to thinning hair. She was so kind, thoughtful, and attentive. The extensions blend seamlessly with my natural hair, giving me a major confidence boost. If you are considering extensions to give your hair density and volume, do not hesitate to reach out to her. Also, I have many friends who have gotten haircuts with L that grow out beautifully — she is so good at what she does and has an amazing sense of what is cool and fresh, while also considering what will work for YOU. She’s the best!

I have been going to River Salon for about 8 years. I haven’t ever been disappointed with the haircut and treatment that I received. Actually I am consistently pleasantly surprised. The cut is always better than I expect! Besides consistently being very satisfied with my haircut, I love coming to River Salon because of the whole experience. The minute you walk in, you immediately feel calm and comfortable. It feels like great effort has been put into creating this environment. I have recommended many friends to River Salon and I will continue to do so!

Obsessed with River Salon!! L is a dream designer, stylist and has amazing energy/vibes. Love the space - it’s bright, warm, and there’s always a stocked fridge of delicious seltzers and beverages. L is so good at reading the room, seeing what kind of mood I’m in, coming up with ideas/strategies for me to look and feel my best. L gives the best haircuts! Careful and methodical and also particular to what my needs are. She gives me a cut that lasts me 4 mos and has helped me figure out how to style it given how lazy i am 🤣. L did such an amazing job on my long, thick, curly hair. I always dread getting my haircut because I’ve had so many bad experiences. But river is really inviting. L immediately made me feel comfortable from the moment I walked in. She really took her time to understand my hair and what I wanted. I would give Michél 10 stars if I could! I have complicated unruly curls and she always gives me an amazing cut - which I CONSTANTLY get compliments on. Who doesn't want that? She's so good that I trust her to cut my kids (also complicated) hair as well as my Husbands - especially after lockdown when he "decided he liked it long." Additionally, she is a wonderful human to be around and chat to and River Salon is a lovely, warm, inviting environment. 10/10

If you’re looking for the most perfect place to get your hair done in NYC, this is it. I met Crystal a few years ago at another salon and will follow her anywhere. She’s not only an amazing colorist (my red hair is everything to me) but the best way to describe her is a warm hug. The environment is cozy, comfy, safe, and something I look forward to every 8-10 weeks. I love this studio so much (you’ll even see my hair in their promo pics because of it). This is where you should be too.

L always gives me a great cut and excellent highlights. She is really smart about hair, and I'd never realized that most people aren't smart about hair until I started seeing her. She does my highlights so that I never have harsh roots, which allows me to space out my visits more than I could before. My cuts always grow out gracefully as well. I think that's the true mark of a talented hair dresser.

She is a true pro and the only stylist I will ever trust to cut my hair- she cuts a perfect blunt bob every time and does a stunning blonde highlight as well. I have been going to L for probably 15 years now. Prior to her I never stayed with any stylist for long. I had a pixie cut for many years and she always really listened to my wishes and skillfully gave me a beautifully balanced cut. I have now grown my fine hair out and she somehow finds a way to make the most of it. She truly knows what she is doing and she is great company when you are in her chair. I have been so happy so see her progress to creating her own space. It just feels right, like it was always meant to be. Her success is well deserved!

I was looking for a new salon and stylist. After doing some research, I came to River Salon. The salon itself is a very comfortable and welcoming place. When you are there, you feel like they totally focused on you 100%. L is more than a stylist, she is really a true artist. She listens to how you want to cut/style your hair and gives suggestions. Allie, her assistant took such great care of me. My haircut is perfect and I am very satisfied. If you are looking to make a change or try something new, you cannot go wrong at River Salon. I feel very lucky to have found them and I look forward to going back to this wonderful gem .

What can I say? L is a genius. I have completely lackluster hair - yet L manages to cut it so it looks full and totally chic. She's a great colorist too - and I love my annual baliage that she does. Lastly, when you spend time with your hair stylist you get to know them, and L is a great human to spend an hour or two with. Delightful, thoughtful, smart. <3
