Kotomi has been cutting and dyeing my hair for the past year or so. She is incredibly talented, always producing high quality results. I have naturally fine, brown hair and she successfully takes me to a platinum blonde without causing any damage. I've been bleaching my hair for almost 10 years across at least a dozen stylists, and Kotomi has done the best job of anyone. Kotomi also gave me the best haircut I have EVER had - exactly what I wanted. She does a great job of seeing the vision and bringing it to life. She is also careful, precise, and gentle while still producing results more quickly than most stylists are able to. I never even think about going somewhere else. I have also had my hair done once by Limi and had a similar experience! I was very happy with the color and cut. Highly recommend Room Salon.

I came here for the first time to get a haircut. I had been contemplating going short and after sharing a few photos and chatting with Limi, she gave me a great bob. She was very friendly and attentive.

I’ve been going here since 2018?19? and this is the only place in New York that I trust my hair with. I seriously cannot stress enough how talented all of the hairdressers are. They do not mess around. They know what they’re doing. And KOTOMI IS MY GODDESS god bless her soul. She always finds a way to make your hair look better in ways you weren’t even aware. Her bleach jobs are gentle and quick. You won’t regret it!

I spent hours looking at different salon instagrams in North Brooklyn. I discovered Room Salon and was so impressed by everyone's body of work. I ultimately made an appointment with Kotomi and she was so nice and amazing to work with! She totally understood what I wanted and I am so very happy with my hair treatment! Can't wait to continue to see her through the year!

Now this is my favorite hair salon. The stylists are professional and know exactly what they are doing. They use top-of-the-line products to ensure that your hair looks great. The salon also has a relaxing atmosphere, which makes the whole experience enjoyable.

I really wanted to like this place because of the raving reviews and how it’s great for Asian hair, but I feel like I didn’t walk out feeling like I love my hair. It looks great, don’t get me wrong, but I think the lady who cut it (Limi) didn’t quite understand what I wanted, and she tried to decipher the look I’m going for only through the Pinterest pictures I’d shown her. There wasn’t enough highlights in my hair for the balayage, and I wanted curtain bangs, and only got some long pieces on the side. I do think the stylists are really talented and can do anything you want, but I think there is definitely a language barrier if you don’t speak Japanese, so just be prepared when you come in with lots of pictures, and explain things slowly.

It’s too bad because I really wanted to like this place. I went to get my bangs cut. The hairdresser took 3 minutes to quickly snip my bangs — no volume or layering into my longer hair. Unfortunately I won’t be coming again. Edit — 5 stars for a responsive team & listening to their customers feedback!

Mayuu cut my hair this week and it is seriously my favorite haircut ever. I’m so excited about her work!! I’ve usually had a short to medium non, but Mayuu gave me the confidence to go for a full pixie. I couldn’t be happier with her cut! I would 2000% recommend her (as would my friends who also frequent this salon!)

Mayuu has been cutting my hair for years, and I always appreciated so much her sensitivity, bubbly spirit, and technical mastery at digital perms. The cuts here are worth the expense because the grow out is seamless, and I only end up coming 1-2 times a year. I rarely feel compelled to leave business reviews, but Room has been so consistently good to me that it's the least I can do to show my support and pray they stay open forever. I especially appreciate the nurturing environment that has been cultivated there, from the staff that seems to genuinely support each other down to the lovely artwork scattered throughout. What's better than getting pampered amid plants and soothing music? I can't wait to come back soon :)
