Gaby is an absolute genius when it comes to highlights—she’s perfected the art of subtle, natural-looking highlights on my dark hair in a way no one else in the city has ever been able to. I leave every appointment with the most beautiful, sun-kissed hair that looks completely effortless. Deana is a total pro when it comes to haircuts. She knows exactly how to shape and style my hair to keep it healthy, and it always looks flawless. My hair feels so healthy and vibrant after every visit. Love this place! I was so apprehensive to get my haircut by someone new. Went there yesterday for the first time for a haircut + blowout. First of all love the salon, such good vibes. Second, Deana is amazing. She gave me the exact haircut I wanted, and it looked even better than i imagined!! Also, the blowout was perfect and voluminous. Highly highly recommend!!!

Saw Julius for a curly cut and his special hair painting technique and I couldn’t be happier with the results! He completely transformed my dry and damaged blonde hair, giving me the natural blonde color I had been seeking forever. Also, my hair has never been healthier. Happy to say I finally found my stylist in NYC ❤️ (before is harsh root / super blonde, after is seamless blend)

Bret is the absolute best! He saved my hair after I had some bad work done at another salon and I couldn’t be happier! He is a master blender and you’d never know this isn’t my natural hair color. I receive so many compliments on it. 😊 Don’t hesitate to book with him, you won’t regret it!

Every time I have the pleasure of getting my hair done by Deana, I couldn't be more happier with the results. She does an amazing job with my extensions, especially, as I am very picky when it comes to extensions! My haircut and blowout are absolutely perfect, as always. Not only is she incredibly skilled, but she was also very professional and easy to talk to throughout the entire process. Deana is extremely knowledgeable in working with many different lengths and styles especially when it comes to extensions. Deana is skilled in various types of extensions, including tape-ins, K -tips, and more. I HIGHLY recommend her services to anyone looking for top-notch hairstyling!

Gaby Bowen has been my go to hair colorist for years and I couldn’t recommend her more highly! Keeping my locks golden and sun kissed. She’s a master at her craft and I love how natural she makes my color look. She knows I like to spread out my color treatments and colors my hair in a way that will keep looking good and natural as it grows out.

Have gone to Deana a few times now & she’s the only person I trust in nyc to cut my (very long) hair! Whether it’s long layers or something I’ve seen on IG she always nails it. Not to mention the owner is so kind, I had a situation where I couldn’t have a service done (won’t get into the details) and she came and spoke to me directly about it on arrival. Made me feel like a valued client & this was back when it was my first time there!

I am SO happy with my results. Gaby took my hair and fixed it after a mistake by another salon. She was so helpful and explained the science behind everything she was doing. I’ll be back! Deanna also cut my hair and gave me the best blowout I’ve ever had. Truly a great salon!

I came to Rule On after seeing pictures of Gaby’s work on another curly haired woman of color. It’s hard sometimes to find hair stylists who do amazing, golden, bright vibrant blonde blonde on black girl hair. Gaby hits it out the park each and every time - I get compliments everywhere I go! She also cares about my hair health and has made sure my natural coils remain coiling and bouncy. I love love love Gaby and everyone at Rule On! I need to also mention Billy who did my hair the very first time I came and did a BEAUTIFUL job. 100% come here! Beautiful people all around who really know color!

I couldn’t be happier and more grateful to have found Deanna at Rule On! I have really fine hair and love keeping it long, but no one has ever found a way to keep it from being flat and limp. Deanna said she would give it movement and worked her magic, and let me tell you she DELIVERED! I’ve never had a cut this amazing, vibrant, and full of body! The compliments I get have been endless, and I literally have not had a single bad hair day in months. Deanna is so warm and friendly and a true wizard with her scissors!

I've been seeings Mads (Madison) for the past few years, and at this point I won't let anyone else touch my color. She consistently blows me away with her talent, which she balances with running a full blown thriving business that she started from the ground up with her brother, Matthew, who is absurdly nice and feels like every client's personal hype-man. Everyone that Mads has brought on her staff are incredible and theres just such a positive vibe in the salon, I can't wait to come back every time. My highlights get compliments MONTHS later due to how naturally they grow out, and as someone who has gone through every shade and variation of blonde for the last 10 years, I can say that is so difficult to get. Also, aside from color, they all know how to give the best blowouts in the city, hands down.

MADISON (the owner) is an absolute hair goddess. She styled me on my wedding day and made me feel so beyond beautiful. She stayed through the ceremony for touch ups too, always ready to jump in to keep my hair perfection. Madison also gives the best cuts, color, and does magic with extensions. Moved to NYC 5 months ago and was so nervous about finding a new salon and stylist to look after my very fine blonde hair. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with colorists so I am always nervous with someone new, I’m always on the hunt for the perfect “not too creamy, not too ashy” blonde. I am SO happy I came across this salon. Maggie is so lovely and so knowledgeable! From my first appointment 3 months ago she took the time to understand my goals, the color I wanted etc and really took the time to listen but I had to post a review after my appointment yesterday. I had a really specific vision in mind for my color and she really stepped me through the way she could achieve it and made recommendations based on what would suit me and my hair type. I am OBSESSED and I don’t think I’ve ever loved my hair color this much. She is so talented. I could not recommend her more, especially if you’re a blonde and find it tricky to find and trust someone, and she’s such a sweetheart. I also had a blowdry/cut with Deana and she did such an amazing job - again, recommending the best approach for my hair and giving me a gorgeous blowdry. The vibe of the salon is also 11/10. The owner is so lovely and It’s such a welcoming environment that it makes the whole experience fun. You can also really tell everyone is passionate about what they do so I felt in safe hands. Would 100% recommend!

The most fabulous salon in NYC. I’ve seen Madison for years who is incredible, and I recently went to Maggie to transition from blonde to brunette. Maggie listened so intently to exactly what I wanted and was so thoughtful about the exact tone and color she ended up mixing. Went to Rule On Salon to get my hair colored recently by Aidana and cut by Julius… I have not stopped getting compliments on my hair! I’m not the type of person who really has a strong vision for what I want but Aidana worked with me and gave me beautiful highlights that frame my face perfectly. I always thought I had straight hair until I met Julius. He helped me discover my wavy hair potential and gave me a haircut that worked like two haircuts in one - works wavy and straight. I’ve gotten my hair colored by Madison and cuts by Mika as well and it was a 10/10 experience. I’m always cautious where I get my hair done as I don’t trust every place to know how to work with my very thick Asian hair but this place truly sets the bar. They’ve transformed me. Thank you!
