Don’t sleep on Sage! I’ve been seeing Tia for over five years and she’s truly the most kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable person. She truly understands her craft and executes flawlessly. She’s built a beautiful studio with an incredibly sweet team around her. It’s can be scary to trust someone with your hair, but I can confidently say you’re missing out if you’re going anywhere else!

Went in as a new client and I will definitely be returning. All of the ladies working were so kind and helpful. Jessica did my hair and she was knowledgeable, very friendly and really made my hair look great, 10/10 experience.

I have been coming to this hair salon for about 2 years now and absolutely love it! Jessica always is up to take on my crazy hair requests and makes them look fantastic. She recently added platinum blonde highlights to my dyed jet black hair that had been through red and purple and took it took a few sessions but have always felt very welcome and have always been satisfied with my hair. Definitely recommend Jessica if looking for big hair transformations.

Tia is amazing and the best! She did my Brazilian blowout yesterday and I am absolutely at love. I keep looking at myself in the mirror and admiring my new hair. She has given me new confidence. She explained the whole step and answered my million questions with so much patience. She even offered to be available afterwards if I think of any other questions. I can tell she takes pride in her work. If you are in doubt hope I cleared them.

I have fine, thick hair and it can be difficult to cut. Tia and her staff take the time to get to know you and listen to your needs. I have never had a better hair cutting experience. I will be back. Thank you for the excellent service.

Your search is over. This adorable, super sleek shop houses phenomenal stylists and staff. Lyndsey, who works the front desk, sold me over the phone. She was extremely professional, courteous and warm. I had been with the same stylist for 20 years and Tia was able to assess and nail the exact copper color combination I was seeking on the first try. She is super smart, hospitable, and takes the time to get to know you personally and to educate you about what she does and why. She truly listens to what you want. I can’t say enough amazing things about this salon. I bounced around from place to place for years, never dissatisfied but never blown away…well not anymore! I’ve been a client for over a year. Tia, the owner, actually took the time to educate me about different services and set me up with a GORGEOUS balayage and glazes to keep it up and change things up as needed. The staff is always kind and genuinely happy to see everybody. I always look forward to my appointments and highly recommend Tia and her team!

I was referred to Sage by a happy client with simple brown hair. I scheduled an appointment to go from my natural blonde to a strawberry/copper with golden highlights. Because I had bought clip in hair extensions for my NYC photoshoot I scheduled a consultation appt one week prior to my service appt in order to make sure my goal was understood. The extensions were real human hair, dirty blonde with highlights. I brought them to the consultation. I explained that I wanted them to be dyed to match my hair color but that I wanted to keep the blonde highlights. I shared a video of what I wanted along with several pictures. The day of the service appointment, I showed up with third day hair which is usually desired for coloring. She immediately shampooed my hair and came over with a bowl of color made up. I got anxious and asked what colors she had used. She brought me a book and showed me a golden strawberry color which is not what I would have chosen because obviously that is too light given that I wanted copper. I immediately knew it was not what I wanted when my hair was still wet, and it looked worse when dry. Worst of all, she instructed her assistant to dye the extensions while she was working on my hair and not only were they the wrong color, they were no longer multidimensional with the highlights as I had wanted and communicated both in person and during the consultation. I was charged $55 for a deep conditioning treatment I didn't want that she said I needed if I didn't get a haircut. She trimmed my curtain bangs and then charged me $55 for a haircut!! Oh and it was $80 per 10oz of hair and she used 40oz so I had to pay $160 for my extensions to be ruined and $160 for my hair to not be the color I wanted. The other stylists in the salon were gaslighting me into believing that my hair matched the video and photos. The stylist without talking to me drew up highlights and red lowlights in bowls to apply. I then got anxious and asked what she was doing. I wasn't going to pay a fortune for highlights when a single process color cost me $160. Thank God the assistant spoke up and said the root looked darker in the photo and asked if I wanted that. So the stylist mixed up another 20oz of color that was a 7RC copper, what I would have asked for if given the opportunity to when I arrived. She applied the color and it wasn't what I wanted and it didn't match the extensions but at least it wasn't the ugly strawberry blonde color. I was upset about the extensions but agreed to pay for them. I was able to get the first color application to my hair taken off the bill along with the haircut. My total was like $550 and it went down to $350. I brought my extensions to a good salon/stylist the next morning and she dyed them 7RC to match my hair for $35. She said that it's not safe to highlight extensions so they were technically ruined as soon as the highlights were colored over at Sage. I just can't believe I had a 30 minute consultation one week prior and left with hair color I didn't like and extensions that were no longer highlighted. My long blonde hair never cost more than $250 for a full foil, cut and style. I knew I had specific expectations hence the consultation. I've never even asked for a consultation before. The photoshoot was really important because it's very hard to edit hair color. Anyway, I called the salon one week after my appointment to express that I was upset with my experience especially the hair extensions being ruined. I was told that the owner would be informed. I got a call 5 minutes later from the salon manager saying that the owner wanted me to come to the studio and that she needed to review security cameras and receipts. I said that I was a full-time nurse just hired for a second job and had drill for the Army Reserve that weekend, that I couldn't just come in. The owner couldn't be bothered to call me. It's been over a week but I'm still upset with my experience and just not the type to let things go. I should have left as soon as she mixed up a color without confirming the shade with me.

I’m a new customer here and it was the most AMAZING salon I’ve been to. The owner cut my hair and she was so personable! My hair was cut exactly as I requested and looked amazing! This is the best place in VA Beach you must try it out!

BEWARE!!! Website says $125 and up for foils. Walked out of there with a $250 charge. Never in my life would I pay that much. No way! And no way to pay tip. All this should be conveyed prior to the procedure maybe on the phone about the tip and before the process for the cost. He saw me as an elderly visitor and gouged me.

Ben is AMAZING! I cannot say enough kind words. He is kind, has an amazing personality, listens to what his clients want, and most importantly, he is the most talented stylist I have ever had. I usually keep my cut and color simple, but Ben pitched the idea of highlights to me and I trust him. I am so glad he did. I LOVE MY HAIR NOW! The color is just perfect. The cut, exactly what I wanted. Just went back for my second appointment with Ben and my hair looks fantastic. I love the dimension my hair has. I have never felt so confident about my hair. In addition to a perfect cut and color, Ben gives THE BEST scalp massage during a wash. The salon is very nice and very clean. I like the atmosphere and their music selection. The staff are all very friendly. Can’t say enough good things about Sage and about Ben. Thank you!!

I met Tia back in 2017 when she did my hair while working for someone else. She was so kind and caring, and she did such a good job on my hair, I stuck with her. It has been awesome to see her go from being someone else's employee, to owning her own shop. We still use her (she was even there for me during the whole COVID fiasco) and not only does she always do an amazing job on my or my son's hair (yes, she does boys and men's hair, too), she treats people right. She is good to her customers and employees. I also love that she's put out snacks and drinks in the waiting room including free Nespresso cappuccinos which tastes amazing!

I've never written a salon review before today. Rae my stylist, did an amazing perm for me. The pic of the style I was going for is exactly what she provided. Rae is a super talented pro and kept me informed, comfortable and entertained the whole time. Sage has a cool, very zen vibe. The entire staff was cordial from beginning to end. Highly, highly recommend.

Just reiterating what another review said: Ben is FANTASTIC! I honestly haven’t had this great of a haircut and highlight in YEARS, if ever. Usually when I get a haircut, I need a day or so to get used to it. This time - I felt so beautiful and wanted to show it off immediately. I felt like ME again. Ben exceeded my expectations with his attention to detail. The color matching is perfect and my face is framed so well. Needless to say, I’ve found my new stylish. The studio overall was great, too. Clean, charming, well decorated, with friendly and professional staff. I wish I had found Ben and sage sooner!

My experience at Sage was exceptional. The staff was so friendly and inviting. The stylist were very talented and professional. They expertly executed my wishes and made me feel so relaxed. The owner was such a delight, laughing and advising her staff while tending to her own client. There was a sense of family. All the clients left beaming with gratitude, most longtime patrons and friends. The space was immaculate and stylish. Sage is the type of space you go to recharge and refresh.

Sage Hair Studio is the best. I got my very first Brazilian blowout and it looks amazing. The staff is so polite and answered any questions I had. I would definitely recommend anyone to get their hair done here even if its just a cut! You will be very well taken care of and your hair will look amazing!
