I’ve been going to Donita since the summer of 2022. Her customer service and knowledge is amazing. She is personable and patient. The experience is also very collaborative; she will take time to understand what you really want so that you will leave satisfied.

I am almost 45 years old and Donita is the first stylist that listened to what I wanted and cut my curly hair properly. She also taught me how to do it myself and what products to avoid. While it is a process, she broke it down in easy to follow steps. I'm on week two of doing it myself and already am getting the hang of it. I used to really hate my hair and styling would only last one day. Now it lasts 5+ days! I highly recommend and she will be the only person to cut my hair as long as I live a drive away!

To my curly ladies please please if you are looking for a hairstylist that knows curls RUN to see Donita at Salon 29:11! After years of not getting my hair cut because of the fear that someone would ruin my natural curls, Donita brought them back to life! She it tenative and detail oriented when it came to creating the shape that I love! She took her time and she listened she made me love my curls again!

I booked a New Guest- Curl Discovery Session about a year ago with Donita at Salon 29:11, best decision ever! She took her time to evaluate my hair and educate me on what products to use, and how to care for my hair. I use to be a product junky but, after my visit with her, I only use the products she recommends and nothing else. It works! My hair is the healthiest it’s ever been, Wash days turned into to Wash hour (Max 2 hours) and I no longer leave a grease mark on pillow cases and head rest. My hair is well moisturized and hydrate. Donita, thank you for pouring wisdom into me each time I come for my appointment and most importantly making my curls pop. You are an amazing person and Curl Specialist. I really enjoyed my appointment today. I am really happy with the progress my hair has made so far! Can’t wait for my next appointment!!!

I rarely leave reviews, but Donita has changed my hair for the better, and I have to talk about it! Donita is kind, knowledgeable, and just an amazing stylist! We did a curl discovery cut on 1/20/24, and she brought my hair back to LIFE. She gave me shape, definition, volume, and LOTS of great tips and tricks! She opened my mind to the truth about the products I thought were good for my hair and guided me to more organic, easy-to-use, and less time-consuming products that work! If you're questioning whether or not you should do a curl discovery session, don't! It was the best thing I did for myself this year. Donita is seriously a miracle worker with curls. I have learned so much about my hair this year which has helped me gain so much confidence. I am enjoying my curls more than I ever have. She takes her time to explain what she is doing and answer questions so that I can recreate it as best as I can.

I cannot sing the praises of Salon 29:11 and the incredible skill of Donita enough! She has taught me so much about my hair. I have been natural for over 10 years but I could never pull off a wash and go. Thanks to the patient and knowledgeable Donita, I wear wash and go's ALL THE TIME. She explained the technique needed to accomplish a fraction of her magic at home and her advice really pays off. Run don't walk to Salon 29:11!

I‘ve never been complimented as often as I have with the hairstyle Donita gave me. Her niche is curly hair of all types and she takes the time to educate you on how to care for your curls. Best of all, the cut she gave me looked better over time, so it’s nice to know I can let it grow a little longer without my hair going through any awkward stages. Donita is the first person ever to understand my hair, my needs and wants. I left her salon with feeling confident and feeling beautiful and young once again. You won’t regret your decision.

Donita was very personable, kind, informative during my new client service. I learned how best to care for my tightly curled hair while working to reach my hair goals. I finally found a stylist that is knowledgeable to help me achieve the goals that I have of wearing my hair exactly how it grows while also maintaining its health. HIGHLY recommend! I had never tried a curly specific haircut before and was so happy with the results! In addition to looking good, my hair is now easier to style, tangles less easily, and stays nicer longer. This is true even though it’s now been almost a month since I got my haircut. She gave really good advice about how to care for my hair as well. Will definitely go back!

This was hands down the best salon experience I’ve ever had. Donita is amazing — she is professional, extremely knowledgeable, produces excellent results, and she’s hilarious! I was able to ask her all the questions I had come into the appointment with and I left with a better understanding of how to properly care for my curls. Her space is welcoming, clean and beautifully designed. I can’t tell you the relief I feel to finally have found a stylist that understands how to care for my hair. I will definitely be seeing her on a regular basis, and would recommend anyone in search of a curly hair specialist to book with her!

Within the first visit, I was confident that I would leave with my curls looking the best they've ever looked. In all my life, this is the only hair expert who has ever given me that level of confidence! Prior to coming here, I would leave a hair place only to go home and wash and restyle my hair on my own because no one understood curly hair. If you've got curly hair, this is the place to go!

I drive about 50 minutes to see Donita and it is worth it. My coarse, dense, curly hair is growing and no longer dry. Donita is very knowledgeable about curly hair and will answer any questions you have to help maintain your hair at home. It's always a great experience going to see her.

I just had my first cut with Donita this morning. I’ve had cuts with other curly hair stylists and have actually had some decent cuts. then I would go home and style my own hair and it would be right back to dry and frizzy. Donita took the time to explain each step while she washed, conditioned, and styled my hair. She also explained the reason behind most of the process which is super helpful to my inquiring mind. When I walked out, my curls had incredible definition and were frizz-free. They stayed that way even after walking in and out of the rain and humidity while running a few errands. Bonus: Donita was super sweet and welcoming. I’m not typically a very chatty person but Donita was easy to talk to and kept the conversation going. I felt almost like I was hanging out with a friend! I would recommend Donita and Salon 29:11 to anyone looking for a curly cut!

I would give 6 stars if I could. My daughters and I have finally found our hairdresser soul mate in Donita. For me, it has been a 30+ year journey. I have Type 3B curls and my girls have type 3A and type 4A. Together, we have been up and down the East Coast trying various “curly hair specialists” and “curly hair only” salons. What distinguishes Donita from all of them is that (1) she has a deep understanding of curly hair having naturally curly hair herself (I laugh that I used to go to a curly hair specialist with naturally straight hair.) and (2) this is key, she actually listens to me when I say and describe what I want for my hair. That is a first for me. She helped me transition from long shoulder length hair to a short curly pixie style - something I never trusted any other hairstylist to do. She studies my hair, she know which curl grows which way and how to cut it from there. There is no extra effort when I go home and do my own hair in real life. She actually educates my daughters (school age) on how to better care of their hair when they come for their appointments so they can be more independent with it. We just love her. To put the cherry on top, Donita is so kind and compassionate, has embraced my entire family and she’s a great conversationalist. Also, her salon space feels comfortable, clean, and safe. There is also easy access to clean restrooms. LOVE LOVE LOVE, Donita!

Truth: I never liked my hair until I started getting curly cuts. Donita taught me how to like my hair! She's been cutting my hair regularly for about two years now, and every time I leave her salon I somehow feel like I got a whole better hairstyle, a brighter complexion, lost 10 pounds, am wearing a much cuter outfit than the one I arrived in, and can suddenly pirouette. She just *gets* curly and wavy hair, and how to make it look good. And she takes the time to listen to what you want, and then she'll tell you (A) if it's possible for you personally, and if so, then (B) how to make it work. Added bonus: she won't get mad at you if you get impatient between maintenance cuts and chop a little off yourself and do a terrible job! She's also just a positive, lovely person and really calming to spend time with. I drive almost an hour to get to her salon, and it is well worth it - Donita is amazing.

Words don’t even begin to explain how grateful I am to have stumbled upon Donita. She is a curl whisperer!!! I absolutely LOVED Donita, her salon location, and the haircut. The 29:11 Salon atmosphere was very welcoming, accepting, and comfortable. Donita is not only incredibly passionate about curls, but she is also truly invested in her clients. She took her time to walk me through/educate me about each and every curl step, as well as explain everything along the way. The haircut was tailored to me, my hair texture, and my hair goals. I definitely found my new hair home! If you have curly hair (any type of curls) - you must visit Donita!!
