Literally the best haircut I've ever had. Santiago has real artistry. AND he managed to do things with color I never thought would be doable. His experience shows. He's honest, and doesn't give a person unreal expectations. That and he's funny, and personable and easy to relax around. 10/10 recommend. As long as he's in business, I won't be going anywhere else.

This is a before and after seeing Santiago! I spent 200$ on the first salon i went to, haircut and products they made me buy. i wanted my hair short but they just did trim and and a straight cut. Not even a style! But SANTIAGO slayeeeeed it! Exceeded my expectations. Havent gone to a hair stylist for 4 years coz i was afraid. But im glad i didnt go wrong on this one. 💗💗💗i was nervous at first because it was so uneven but it really turned out how i like it. this is a Brazillian blow out with smooting treatment and a haircut. 💗

I came in for a cut with my usual barber but she had to cancel last minute. Santiago didn't hesitate and offered to cut my hair. And he killed it. My hair looks great!

Santiago is not licensed as of March 2021 and he continues to see clients. Please research your hairdressers. No one wants orange blotchy hi-lites with fried ends like what I got.

Santiago was AMAZING! He made sure that I got exactly what I wanted and more! He gave me tips and tricks about the aftercare and styling throughout the entire visit. He makes sure that you understand what he is doing in every step of the process so that you feel comfortable. I am definitely going back to him for all of my future hair needs! Prepare to be welcomed with lots of care, service, and endless laughs at 5th Avenue Hair and Spa!

I have gone back and forth over whether I should leave a review for awhile now, however, after reflecting on the amount of money I’ve spent fixing Santiago’s mistake I think I would be doing other people a disservice by not leaving one. I had seen Santiago several times without issue. I even liked his work. The last time I saw him that changed. He completely butchered my hair - layered perfectly on the left side but a Carol Brady mullet on the right side. When I tried to address it with him to fix it he got hostile and combative. I finally got tired of the way he talked to me and lost all faith in his ability to fix it. I ended up spending $800 on custom colored extensions from another hairdresser because I couldn’t stand my hair and the only way to fix the hair without them would be an a-line bob due to the poorly layered mullet I was left with on the right side. On top of the initial investment, I now have $300 of maintenance every 8 weeks because Santiago messed up a $100+ haircut and he was too unprofessional to fix his mistakes. I cannot recommend Santiago because of this. Even if you like his work, there will always be the possibility he will have an off day. Unfortunately, unlike other stylists, he takes no responsibility for fixing things when they go wrong. I know he obsesses over bad reviews, and Santiago I’m sorry, but I cannot recommend his services knowing what this has cost me.

I absolutely LOVE Salon 5th Avenue Hair & Spa! I’m fairly new to San Diego and this place was recommended to me by my fiancé. I’m extremely picky and particular about who does my hair due to some bad experiences I’ve had in the past. I made an appointment with Santiago. As soon as I arrived, I was impressed with the cleanliness and overall atmosphere of the Salon. The staff was very professional and friendly which made me feel comfortable right away. Santiago took his time with me to really get an understanding of what I wanted. He was very knowledgeable about the different shades of blonde and the toner he would need to achieve the color that I wanted. My color came out amazing! He also gave me a cut and style which I loved! They also carry great products for not only your hair, but your skin as well. It’s was so refreshing to find a stylist that could achieve exactly what I wanted. I will definitely be returning to Salon 5th Avenue & Spa.

I absolutely trust all of the hair stylists here! Santiago is really good and always leaves my hair amazing! I call it bada-boom! Nieves is really good too and leaves my hair perfect when I do a straightening ! Susana is very kind and always smiling ! Plus, the decor is great, very modern and always very clean ... plus you get free coffee or wine ;)

I came in for a Brazilian blowout and haircut. That was over 5 mos ago ago and my hair is still so soft & smooth! The woman who runs this place does an amazing job and makes you feel at home. Coming back for another haircut this weekend. :)

I have had Brazilian Blowouts, a balayage, and several haircuts with Santiago and Susanna. And I have loved all of them. They use high quality products and take their time with the styling at hand, as well as explain the process of each specific service. I highly recommend Salon 5th Avenue. Plus they are pet friendly!

My girlfriend and I visited Salon 5th ave this past weekend for a balyage and Brazilian blowout treatment. We went to Santiago since we heard he is the best at balyages in town, and he definitely didn’t disappoint. She looks amazing and even more lovely than before. Santiago was awesome! He’s super friendly and funny; very skilled with his hands. Santiago is definitely the best and a real professional at the art of lightening hair. My girlfriends hair was really orange when we got there and he was able to turn her fully blonde easily. He also cut her hair, perfectly framing her face. The salon is very uptown and fun! They have yummy snacks and drinks. The other stylists in the salon were very friendly and we overall loved the service. Susana is the best receptionist and a stylist in the salon herself. We were able to book her next appointment very easily. Would recommend 1000 x to anyone that wants quality work.

THE WOEST HAIR SALON!!!! NEVER GO HERE!!!! I went in for what I thought was a basic routine all over color touch up. I was waiting for a stylist and the RECEPTIONIST started doing my hair. She served me COLD coffee. During the hair dying process She got dye EVERYWHERE you guys. Black hair dye all over my four head, neck, ears, hands, arms, and thighs, if you can believe it. Up until this point the whole experience was giving me horrible anxiety. Two hours later we FINALLY washed my hair. But NO CONDITIONER?! She literally washed my hair and didn’t add any conditioner and she burnt my head because the water was scaulding. My hair was SOAKING wet and she sprayed a shine spray on my roots..... why?!?! Why the roots? Made my hair GREASY The experience was so bad it gave me anxiety and I had to leave with wet hair because of the UNPROFESSIONALISM. When the OWNER was reached the next day he was HOSTILE and unapologetic. !!DO.NOT.GO.HERE!! And surprise, surprise they still charged me full price.

You can't imagine how wonderful they are there and the talent in the art of hair. My stylist is Rachel. She is amazing she spends about 2 hours on my hair at a very reasonable price and uses quality product so my hair doesn't get all burned out. If you go on Groupon she's usually on there so that you can get half off on your first visit. But not 100% sure. She also does a lot of other things outside of hair so she has to be booked in advance. But the whole staff there is amazing and the owners laugh will make you laugh because it's just such an insanely happy environment. You will miss out on quality if you go any place else!!!

This was my first visit to Salon 5th Ave and I am in love! The Salon is very chic and the staff is so friendly. I was offered tea/water upon my arrival. My stylist was Serena, she was very personable and took time to go over pictures and discuss my hair needs. She highlighted my hair using balayage technique and covered my base with a color that worked perfectly with my skin tone. The salon uses high end products like Kevin Murphy which I’m in love with and even use it on their back bar. Serena took extra time to make certain my hair was conditioned with an extra treatment of olaplex(another product i love). You definitely get quality service here. My hair was blown out and styled beautifully. I will definitely be returning and will refer my friends alike. You want to be pampered when getting your hair done and this salon and stylist has it down perfectly.
