Ronen has been cutting my hair for almost 30 years I will continue to be a loyal customer because he never disappoints! It’s not just his attention to detail and the way the initial cut looks, but also how nicely my hair grows out. I travel for business and sometimes get blowouts from other salons and their stylists have often complimented me on my haircut, which is a testament to Ronen’s amazing talent. His salon is also conveniently located and is always spotless. You should check them out - you won’t regret it!

I have had several hair cuts at Salon 601, and it’s definitely my go-to salon! Brenda is a very patient rockstar, working to adapt the pictures I show her into awesome cuts that work with my face. I appreciate that she really takes the time to perfect a cut and is also helpful at recommending product types (pomade, gel, wax, hairspray, mousse…?) when unsure of how to style a new do. I’ve never had my hair done by Ronen, but I’ve seen him work on other clients, always with wonderful results, and he’s lovely to chat with. I’m next looking forward to working some fun exotic colors into my hair, because I know I can trust Brenda — which to me has always been the biggest thing with a stylist!! Salon 601 is a lovely hidden gem in Morningside Heights, and I definitely plan to continue to get my hair done there!

I've been going to Brenda for years and trust her completely with my hair. She always nails the color and style I want, effortlessly updating outdated looks. I couldn't recommend her more for anyone looking for expert hair care! The salon vibe and entire team is also very welcoming. Ronen is always there to greet you with a smile, even when he is busy with other clients. 5 stars!

It is one thing when a schedule gets backed up and you have to wait. It happens. But being taken for granted is different. Took a walk-in (who came in after) ahead of an appointment when he was already 10 minutes behind. Said it would only be "2 minutes". 25 minutes later just decided to walk out. Was a repeat customer. Completely disrespectful. Not going back.

I've been going to Ronen for haircuts for 2-3 years (once every six weeks or so), and he has always done an excellent job even as I've explored different styles (I don't go that crazy, but he's seen me in long flow, fade, and mullet eras). He takes his time to get it just right and is very accommodating and hospitable. He also keeps the salon super clean and plays great music.

My parents and I have been coming to Ronen for many years. He is attentive, kind and patient. By now I don't have to say anything- he knows just what I like and what to do. He's great with my elderly mother - very helpful and gives her great haircuts as well. I've gone to a few other places nearby where I paid much more for a haircut that didn't stand up so I came running back here. His prices are reasonable and it's not hard to get an appointment even though it's a busy place. I'm so glad he's here!

I hadn't been to a hair salon in close to 2 years because I was trying to grow my 3c curly hair out. It finally got to a point recently where while it was long, it was fairly unruly. I was quite worried about trying a new hair salon, especially with my type of hair, but Brenda turned out to be exactly the person I needed! She did an amazing job and was super friendly, knowledgable and helpful, and that too, at a very affordable price. Will definitely be going back.

As soon as I walked into the salon, the person sitting at the reception started confronting me on how I walked into the empty salon without an appointment. He aggressively asked me if I knew the price of a haircut assuming I wouldn’t be able to afford it. Very very disrespectful individual and I will never walk into this establishment again.

Been a regular customer at this place for two years now but don’t think i’ll be going back ever again because of a staff member’s pathetic attitude. Always have enjoyed Brenda’s service (hair+ colour) but absolutely cannot stand the other person working there (who began to admonish me about canceling an appointment, after me having apologized multiple times and accusing me of almost losing a customer because I was a few minutes late, although my appointment went 30 minutes over the time slot to complete the service) It’s very unfortunate for people working there to lose out because of one rotten apple. I recommend finding other salons in the area for comparable quality and more reasonable prices.

I visited this salon looking to get my hair fixed up after a bad experience with another stylist (in another salon if it’s not clear). I was received warmly by Ronen. I explained to him in layman’s terms the way I like my hair and what I wanted to fix about it, and he quickly got to work. From those couple of questions and one reference picture he was able to build a hair style that far exceeded my expectations. He took great attention to detail and made my hair look amazing! For reference, I got a men’s medium-long cut. Highly recommend this salon if you’re looking for a good haircut in the area.

Ronen is one of the best stylists that has cut my hair. A true high-end salon experience without a high end price tag. The only thing missing is champagne service. I hope Ronen will work on that.

I got a really bad bleach done at a salon down at 5th avenue and was desperately trying to fix it. At this point my hair was extremely damaged (hair melting, frizzy ends, etc) and I was completely hopeless. I visited this salon with barely any expectations and asked for a rich dark brown color. He was extremely meticulous and professional with great service. My hair went from a horrible, green color to a rich brown color. If you’re looking for a salon with a skilled and kind stylist, 100% I’d recommend Salon 601. Great price and excellent service.

This review is really one star but I’m giving two stars because of how kind, attentive and professional the Asian front desk woman was towards me night of my *last ever* appointment at this salon. I’d give this place five stars if she ran the place, shout out to women of color who can survive employment by white men. My real 1 star review is for 2 reasons. First, as a native and local, I try very much to support local businesses, unfortunately not only was I robbed at Salon 601, I was also given a hair treatment I did not consent to- an opalex mask? My hair has not been the same since and for further context this brand “Opalex” is under doing a class action lawsuit since Feb 2023…. Why is this salon even carrying these products still? I digress. I came in for a simple wash and trim… how much? $150 note including the cash tips. You might think $150, Manhattan? Standard. Wrong. A three centimeter straight trim? Standard straight blow, no tools after. Robbery. Moving forward, I’ll take my chances across the street at the Universal Barber shop.

From my 1st visit to Salon 601, I was welcomed by Ronan and Brenda. Brenda has always done beautiful color work on my hair. The Salon is clean, relaxed and professional. I wish I had come to Salon 601 sooner! I feel welcomed and taken care of - every time I come in. I have been here several times already and definitely will continue to come!

I called the salon to book an appointment and spoke to the most rude and disrespectful person ever. I was helping him with the spelling of my name and he kept screaming at me throughout the process and yelled at me saying there is no letter ‘V’ in English and that I needed to figure out the proper spelling and letters of MY NAME. He was constantly speaking to me like I didn’t understand English. Despite being a lawyer and studying at Columbia, I didn’t mind his presumption that I don’t understand English as well as him apparently (enough to not know that V is indeed an English alphabet) but it’s the disrespectful manner in which he spoke to me throughout the call because of this presumption. Since I moved to NYC I have never had such a terrible experience which is extremely racist and disgusting. Why would the salon have such an unpleasant person attend calls I do not understand. I decided not to visit the salon only because of him.

I've been going to this salon for almost a year now, and at this point, I'd never go anywhere else. Brenda does such a great job with both my hair cuts and my color requests. She takes into account my hair texture and cares about the health of my hair, which was very important to me as well. She insists that she wouldn't give me a style that she wasn't proud of, and after a few sessions, I know I can trust her to do me right. The salon itself is comfortable and clean, and whatever kind of tea they serve is wonderful. The rest of the staff is very friendly and popular in their own right. While my color is processing I see them take care of other clients professionally and quickly, even including some walk-ins. Happy this place is so close and always able to find an appointment reasonably soon.

When you set foot inside the place, there is a warm welcome and a nice music that hooks you early on. I enjoyed the service and friendly conversation there. The service was conducted by an expert who knows what he is doing. I'll definitely go again. Thank you! 🙏 😊
