There is so much I can say about how wonderful this salon is. The salon itself is absolutely gorgeous—modern, spacious, and impeccably clean, creating such a relaxing atmosphere. I also appreciate the thoughtful touches, like the variety of snacks and drinks available, making me feel extra pampered. Amber is so thoughtful of ALL clients that come to her salon (not just her own) she even makes sure to provide gluten-free snacks as well, so celiacs like me aren’t left out! All of the stylists here have been so warm and welcoming, it really feels like you’re just hanging out with your girls. When I started going to Amber for my hair, I needed some serious help. My hair was blotchy and extremely damaged. I had been asking my previous stylist for something she was still unable to achieve after 7 years of consistency. After 1 appointment with Amber I finally had the hair of my dreams! She spent hours hand painting each strand to create a smooth even lift and correct the damage done by my previous stylist. She is so talented and genuinely cares for the health of your hair. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great service in a beautiful, comfortable environment with stylists who genuinely enjoy helping you achieve the hair of your dreams!!

I came in for a haircut. I had a lot of postpartum hair loss so I needed a good chop. I was booked with Kaya. She is amazing. She cut my hair the perfect length. Loved the customer service very friendly and welcoming. Took her time and cared for my hair the way I needed. My hair felt so much better and healthier afterwards. I’m already looking forward to going back. So glad I found this salon. I’m very picky and will not just go to anyone. However now I found my home salon. Thank you Aurora salon

Kaya did my hair. I came to her a HOTT MESS! My appointment included a cut and full color. I brought to her my concerns for the current upkeep of the blonde in my hair and my very choppy uneven haircut I received 2 months ago. I expressed my desire to go from blonde back to brunette and that I did not want much hair cut off as I am trying to grow my hair out. The work she did on my hair superseded my expectations. I was really shocked at how great the brunette color looked on me. She showed me all the imperfections from the previous haircut I received and fixed them. The hair wash and massage she gave was exceptionally relaxing and most enjoyable. I will not go anywhere else in San Diego. I booked my next appointment with Kaya before leaving. The salon was so clean and organized. Everyone I spoke to was so kind and polite. I am so blessed to have found this place and to have met Kaya, my new hairstylist!

Kaya was absolutely amazing! When I say she has magic hands, I’m not lying. Super sweet, always fun to talk to while getting my hair done and always love the outcome of my hair. I swear I enter the salon looking crazy and come out looking like a princess because of how amazing her work is. Highly recommend this salon as well as getting your hair done by Kaya!

I know Amber, who is amazing but I had to get my hair done super fast for an upcoming trip and she suggested Kaya! I had the best experience with Kaya and she fixed my hair color that was messed up from another hair dresser. It was no easy task and she was so amazing And so kind. Can’t thank her enough!

I’ve been seeing Amber for a few years now, she is amazing at what she does and is super sweet. She makes you feel welcome and comfortable. There’s never any wait when I arrive and she gets me in and out in less than an hour for a full wash, blow dry and cut. Kaia is also great! I enjoy getting my hair done here and highly recommend it.

This service was absolutely phenomenal! Ambur took time to hear my concerns and goals and delivered above and beyond! The whole process was so comfortable and she made me feel like I was a lifelong friend! I also loved how she took time to educate me on all things hair! Kia, her assistant, gave me a wonderful head massage that actually got rid of my headache that I went in with. The whole experience was 10 out of 10 and I cannot wait for my next appointment! Highly recommend!

Photo Order: Salon Aurora The terrible before And the before, before that. (Mind you this is all within a 2 1/2 week window) To anyone who reads this review, I’m gonna you a little context before I tell you how I feel about this salon: So I’m new to California with absolutely no idea where to get my hair done at all (which really sucked). Previously I’ve always gotten my hair done by the same person over and over again in NJ that I didn’t bother to even remember what type of blonde, whatever dimensions, full-head, half-head, etc that I would get done. Not too long before I came to Salon Aurora I had my hair done at this absolutely horrible salon in Jersey. Long story short I was blonde for 8 years but had to dye my hair black since I joined the military. Now I want to go back to what I previously was since it’s been 2 years I was blonde. My hair is a dark brown black color. I thought I’d be blonde but it definitely was not what I wanted at all…… When I mean it was so bad….like real bad from this salon. I had no idea if it could even be fixed because my hair already went through so much to become blonde again. Anyways fast forward to Salon Aurora ——> I tell Amber my situation through a consultation that I booked on a Wednesday. She checks out my hair and says we can definitely fix this. At this point I was feeling so ugly with my hair that I never wanted to leave it down. So after the consultation, I make the appointment for the next opening she had next week. Next week comes around and Amber does my hair……when I mean, WOW. WOW. She blow dried the front two pieces of my hair and I almost could have started tearing. I felt so relieved that I found Amber to do my hair. From the way she does your hair, to the knowledge, to the personable, bubbly personality. She’s really so amazing at what she does and how she makes the magic happen! She made me feel that I can trust her and felt reassured. I get kind of worried when it comes to my hair after the horrible experiences that I’ve had in the past. I can’t thank her enough for everything with fixing my hair!! If you’re reading this having the same problem or similar, just book your consultation. I promise you, you won’t be disappointed. And if my review of words can’t convince you, then just look at the photos and it’ll speak for itself. I HIGHLY recommend coming to this salon girl, just dooooo it. Also, Salon Aurora has such an aesthetically calm vibe in there, it’s so homey. So seriously, go check it out! :-)

Response: I’m going to update this in response because it took me this long to not be furious. Regarding booking policy, I didn’t book the appointment in question, Amber did it at the salon herself after my last service and I felt uncomfortable at that time saying no. I did get several automated requests for confirmation leading up the appointment, and I did not confirm or respond to any of them. Take a hint much?? Then, with awareness of a lack of my confirmation, Amber chose to wait until the day before the appointment to text and see what was wrong. Additionally, I have been getting extensions for 10 years. I know how to take care of hair and I’ve never had this problem, so to turn around and imply I didn’t know how to take care a bad extension install job is wild and unprofessional. And to answer the question, the pictures of my hair were taken two days after Ambers assistant “fixed” my hair and like three weeks from the original install date. Original review: I’ve paid Amber (salon owner and stylist) hundreds of dollars in extensions and always tipped 20% and still ended up with the hair in the pictures I attached. Hanging edges, yellow extensions, and a bellami weft that scrunches and gaps. I gave it over 6 months of coming in and telling her things that did and didn’t work, like poking out edges and slipping. Usually I was fine with everything but mentioned the edges slipping “everything is perfect but my edges are slipping”. She made a point of really sewing them in one time but by the next it was like she forgot and it was back to slipping. She fixed two slips herself and one she had her assistant do it once. Both times I came back with slippage again and this time… see pictures. Frustrated that I felt like I was trying to give her time to figure out my hair, frustrated that I kept tipping her well, frustrated that I had to now tell her how unhappy I was, I tried to cancel for my Tuesday on Sunday and the link wouldn’t let me. I tried to disappear. She knows I came in with messed up hair the last two times she did it, right??? Wrong. She texts, I try to save face for both of us and say I’m sick. She says she’s charging me $180. I explode with the honestly that I’m sick of paying her for horrible hair and really wanted to be let go as a client, instead of saying she understands and knows my hair has consistently slipped and not blended and she has struggled with it, she claims she knows nothing of it. Instead of saying okay you’ve paid me for hair that never even stayed in right, let’s leave this where it’s at, Nope, She wants more of my money. Please look at the pictures of my hair and tell me that that’s something that just happens to a knowledgeable and informed stylist that has been told several times the beads coming off the hair and slipping is a problem. Whatever the response is, it’s classless. If you do bad work, you don’t charge when people don’t want to come back. Bad work is bad work is bad work. Sorry I’m human and didn’t want to be the meanie that tells her stylist she does bad work. I sure wasn’t nice when she wanted to then charge me for work she wasn’t even doing.

Amber has been doing my hair for nearly 5 years — since before she had Aurora! I adore her and she has never done me wrong. I always get so many compliments on my hair and I know so much of that is thanks to her. Aside from her expertise, I genuinely enjoy talking to her and spending hours in her chair. She’s authentic and real. You won’t find those uppity salon vibes here.

I’ve been seeing Amber for almost 5 years now and even when I moved out of San Diego for a period of time I would fly in and have her cut my hair. She is skilled at it alllllll. When I find someone solid I don’t stray away. I recommend her to anyone that asks about my hair. Her knowledge shows in her work & the service she provides has always been exceptional from the moment you step foot in the door to when you leave the salon. It’s such a pleasure to go in each time ♥️

Absolutely FABULOUS!! Amber is so incredibly talented and so, so nice. My hair is super challenging (for a variety of reasons) but Amber works her magic and my hair looks amazing! The Salon is a really cool space with a welcoming, chill vibe. Lucky to have Amber as my gifted hair "Guru" .

Amanda is amazing!! She takes the time to figure out exactly what you want and how to deliver! She is incredibly talented and the best part is she’s so fun to talk to you won’t want leave when you’re done! I left with exactly what I wanted and my hair has never looked and felt better. The salon itself is super cute too! I love all the plants and natural light!

I ADORE MADISON! She's been doing my bleach & tone for almost a year now and I've never been happier with my hair! So much appreciation for her attention to detail (Blondes, you know how important that is) You'll feel so comfortable in her chair. She always answers any questions I have and if we're trying something different with toner or vivids, she explains the process so well. As for the location, street parking is easy and the salon is tucked away in a quiet courtyard. Could not recommend Madison and the gals at Salon Aurora more!!

I LOVE this salon. The atmosphere is so inviting and the women are incredibly talented. I have been a client of Amber's (the owner of Salon Aurora) since her early days as an apprentice back in 2017 when she transformed some bad highlights I got from someone else into beautiful warm tones that mixed well with my natural color. Together, we have taken me from brunette, to bright blonde, to pinks and purples and blues, and then back to my natural color, until today. Today we highlighted my hair for the first time in two years, and I am SO happy with the results (before and after attached). Sam is a great assistant, and you can tell that she knows what she's doing and is eager to learn. She also gives the BEST shampoo I've ever had. I have also had the pleasure of getting services from Maddie back when she was Amber's assistant, and now she is accepting her own clients! It has been amazing to watch these women grow into rockstar stylists. I could go on and on but you should honestly just let Amber and the girls work their magic on you instead ;)

I highly recommend this place! I went in for a consultation because I had no clue what I wanted to do, and less than a week later I was able to come back for a truly transformative color and haircut. After consulting with Amber and communicating that I was looking for something that felt more modern and less heavy, without feeling TOO shockingly different, I am so happy with the partial head highlight and haircut. I've had my hair done by Amber for 5+ years and continue to see her. She always listens to what I'm looking for and gives helpful tips on how to achieve and maintain the desired look. I went from highlights to bleached hair, and during this transition when my hair wasn't holding up much due to previous damage from another hairstylist, Amber has guided me throughout the whole journey on how to best take care of and maintain my hair in the healthiest way. She is very knowledgeable and extremely talented at what she does! She also listens carefully to what the client is looking for and in my opinion, goes above and beyond with the results. Let me start by saying I don’t trust many people to do my hair because I’m sooo picky. Therefore, it took me about a year of stalking Amber’s work on social media to build up the courage to visit Salon Aurora. I can honestly say that now I wish I had gone sooner! I went to Amber for a half head highlight and long hair cut and she absolutely knocked it out of the park. I had about 9 months of grow out and was looking for a blended, dimensional, “fall” blonde. She took her time to understand my hair goals and look through my inspiration pics to make a game plan. I really got a sense for how detail-oriented she is because of how carefully she went through my (thick) mane of hair and meticulously highlighted each piece to create the seamless blend I was looking for. Her work truly speaks for itself, but on top of her incredible talent, Amber is super funny and nice and the appointment really flew by. Her assistant Sam was fantastic as well! The salon itself is absolutely beautiful with high ceilings, stunning natural light, beautiful plants, and was even decorated for Halloween when I went! I can’t recommend Salon Aurora enough and I can’t wait to go back for my next appointment!

Maddie did a great job with my hair!! She was so sweet and fun to talk to for the multiple hours I was there. She really listened to what I wanted with my hair and kept checking to make sure I was happy with how it was looking. I’m so happy with how it turned out and I’ve been getting tons of compliments on my hair! The space is gorgeous and all the girls in salon Aurora were super welcoming to me! People think I'm crazy because I drive all the way from Ventura county to have Amber do my hair. But it is truly worth it. I never really enjoyed having my hair done and was never confident in any of my stylists until I met Amber. Now I never doubt her for even a second. I honestly feel so grateful to be one of her clients. Cannot recommend her enough.
