Great first experience at Salon Daba! Came in to get touch-ups on my faux locs, and was able to text with them beforehand about the service. They were greatly communicative and transparent about their offerings and pricing. Once there, I didn't wait long before being seated and the stylist re-confirmed with me to make sure I wanted my whole head and not just the front retouched. I was able to let her know that my scalp was sensitive, and requested that my roots don't be wrapped too tightly. She made sure to keep checking-in with me throughout the service, and she adjusted as needed! I immediately booked a follow-up for take down in a couple weeks and will be coming here for protective styles from now on. Thank you so much!!

Had great and easy service. The owner was cool on the phone and I was able to book the same day, after reading such lovely reviews. The girl who did my hair nailed it and I’m really happy with her work. She retightened everything for me and made my dreads look clean again. Thanks girls. I highly recommend

I tried to explain to the stylist how I wanted the braids, and she indelicately refused to let me explain. I find it disrespectful that they don't listen to me, work on designs in their way, and don't understand that a woman wants to have a woman's design done. I'm writing this again because I feel outraged. After leaving the salon, I felt disappointed that my hairstyle made me look like a rapper boy when that was not what I wanted, with 12 braids all over my head. This led me to remove it and lose money on it. An advice: Always listen to your clients' suggestions and what they want. And if you have to charge them more, let them know, but don't work how you want. Don't impose

First I was late, ooh so late like 40m late and then I didn't know not to park in front (only 1 hr parking), so had to go in and go back out and park on the cross street (10 hr parking). All this they handle so kindly. I got started with Victoria - who was funny and gracious (also very fast). The place is fairly small but I so appreciated that was basically quiet. Some African videos and music on the television but not a lot of people on phones or speaking loudly. There are not a lot of frills or perks - though they offer water and I recommend you bring your own lunch (plan accordingly). Also best to first wash, blow dry your hair to speed things up. These lovely Senegalese and Gambian women are respectful and get right down to business. I had knotless individual braids (mid-back/medium). I got started at 12noon and was done by 4:30. You want fancy and to see some famous folks this is not your place but you want quality service, nice people, a calm and quick experience with great braids - got to Salon Daba. I plan to go back and get instant locs with the owner...who came by and said hello.

I love this Salon. Amina started my Locs 5 years ago. I had an Afro and she recommend the instant loc method. I was really happy with the end result. I have been going to salon daba since then for my loc maintenance. My favorite is the loc retwist. I love how nice and knowledgeable Amina and her team are. Highly recommend this shop. They are the best period.

Amina did loc extensions on my beginner locs. They turned out amazing. I am so happy about the results and she was very kind and professional. She has a vast amount of experience and completed the work fast. I highly recommend her and I will definitely go back when it’s time to get my locs washed and retwisted.

I decided to try this salon after seeing all the positive reviews, but sadly I did not have a good experience here. The first thing I noticed was the poor hospitality and lack of communication. I have 5 month old locs, and booked a retwist appointment, but when I arrived they were not aware that they needed to wash my hair...Strange as a loc salon, but they were able to wash my hair. Amina was my stylist. She was very rough, sprayed water in my face, and did not clean my hair at all. When I mentioned to them that my hair was not clean, they offered to do an ACV rinse, but ended up not being able to do it because they didn't know the price of it and the owner wasn't answering the phone...I got the feeling that they just didn't want to take the time to properly cleanse my hair. Then when it came to retwisting my hair, she used a lot of gel that left my scalp and strands very flaky. Not only is my hair itchy but it's also flaky. I've had way better experiences at other salons and would not be returning to this salon. I assume they're only good to braid hair (not wash it, and definitely not to care for locs). Update: 1/8/24 - After leaving this review, the owner of the salon messaged me apologizing for my experience and offered to service me again free of charge. I thought that was a very kind thing to do and appreciated it. However, my experience was even worse than the last and I really just want to share it to prevent others from having their new locs ruined. This time, they made me wait an hour and a half to get serviced, tied loops/knots at the end of my locs (even after asking them to stop doing that), sprayed spritz in my hair, and left me looking crazy. See photos. I hope they stop advertising as a loc salon because to some people their locs are very important and sacred and to ruin it like they did to me is just unacceptable.

I have long curly hair passed my tailbone that’s difficult to braid and tuck my hair for wig installation but she was able to do it without having that bump in the back

I needed a loc maintenance and some TLC on my scalp. I inquired over the phone and received both a text and walk in consultation. Amina is very busy but i still made an appointment and was also put on a waiting list for any cancelations. I got a last minute appointment that worked out fantastic for me. I got a wash and dry and my locs tightened up. The lady's in the shop were very nice and I am looking forward to my next visit.

My 7 year old daughter gets her locs twisted by Amina and she is amazing! really clean work, really great styles, as well as health and care advice! Super friendly and professional, clean shop, great music… I’M SO SAD WE’RE MOVING FROM LA😭 We love you guys and we’ll definitely be back when we’re in town.

This place was like visiting back to my roots. They were authentic and very good at what they do. I felt at home. I got a lot of complements on my hair style. They were very quick as well and worked as a team. I will definitely recommend if you have natural hair or need extensions.
