Jess is amazing! I never felt like she was rushing to get me out the door or that she was trying to talk me out of what I wanted. She took the time to listen to what I wanted and did an amazing job.The staff was all friendly and presented a welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a nice yet affordable salon in South Loop.

I found this place on tik tok and then carefully went through everyone’s instagram and chose someone who had more pictures of what I was looking for. Eventually, I booked online. I sent in a reference photo and committed to a 40 minute commute. When I arrived, it was pleasant , but when I sat in the chair, the consult was 10 minutes and the stylist convinced me to basically not get what I want. I wanted a shorter shoulder length cut and said it would be hard to achieve the layers I want and then proceeded to tell me it was an extra $30 for thick hair. Okay, I’ll get a bit more length. I had already commuted 40 minutes so I agreed to the extra length and cost. At the bowl during my shampoo, she just kept bringing up my thick hair as if it was an inconvenience. She was sweet but to be bringing this up again and again I just felt so defeated. I specifically picked my stylist after careful research and wanted to support a Latina stylist. We get to cutting and that was fine. The convo was fun and good, but we get to the bang territory and that did not bode well. It’s very short and kept cutting after styling because it wasn’t falling well. Eventually we blow it out and I just was like “it’s fine, I style it differently at home” She eventually asked me to look in the mirror and tell her if I wanted anything fixed , but at this point I would’ve cried. I wanted to bolt out as fast as possible and did not want to be in that chair any longer. I decided to just say it’s fine and pay and get out because I was so overwhelmed with disappointment and definitely would have had a meltdown and cried. I washed and restyled after I got home and it does not look any better or anything like I wanted. I basically got my hair trimmed for $120 (71 for the cut, 30 for the extra for THICK HAIR, and 20 in tip). I will not be coming back here again.

I had a balayage for the first time today and I love how it turned out! I’ve gone to Genesis several times now and she always does a fantastic job. She’s very thorough and always makes sure to check in with me throughout the process so that I’m getting exactly what I want. I have a lot of hair with a difficult texture to work with, so she’s always careful to explain what she’s doing and offer suggestions on what will work best for me. I really appreciate the care she puts in to my colors and cuts. She’s a very talented stylist and I always know I’m in good hands. I really love coming to this salon and highly recommend it to others.

Highly recommend Genesis. She gave me beautiful face framing curtain bangs that I absolutely love. She was extremely patient, professional, and knowledgeable about hair. I will definitely be going back to see her.

I was recommended this place and stylist by my sister. I had my first visit recently with Genesis, who I knew was a pro at layering and working with thick hair from my sisters experience, and seeing her work online. I’ve only ever been to a chain hair salon where most appointments took 20 minutes with wash and cut, so this was such a different experience! Genesis took her time to evaluate my hair and ask questions about what I wanted. The blowout was so fun and she really gave life and bounce to my hair! My hair looks great styled and natural, you can see the layers and dimension. (I have pretty straight hair and it’s dense/thick) I would highly recommend this place and Genesis to a friend. I’ll be coming back!

Ingrid did such a great job for my first haircut in quite some time! Gave solid advice about how much to cut my hair and frequency of visits. Appreciated how thoughtful she was on the length of my bangs and had nice conversation. I’ll be back!

I got a haircut and blowout with Genesis and I am so happy with my hair! Probably the best hair cut I’ve ever had. I usually get my hair cut at a chain place and I see the difference completely. The layers I asked for at that place cannot compare to the ones that Genesis was able to create. The time and attention to detail make all the difference. Thank you!

I had Morsa who is nothing but a delight — super easy to talk to and really wanted to take the time to understand my hair goals. They made me feel super welcome and comfortable to adjust my hair when the length wasn’t what I wanted. I got a BEAUTIFUL balayage I can’t stop looking in the mirror!! And their rates are super affordable for the quality of her work. It was a pleasure and I will be back to see Morsa again!!

I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by the beautiful gem Morsa. I came in for a big chop with no real plan & they took the time to talk to me about options and really listened to me. Not only was the hair cut stellar, but sitting in their chair was like hanging out with a friend for an hour. Cannot recommend Morsa enough yall!!

I had been wanting to get my hair done before a trip I am taking this summer, and it was also going to be the first time that I got my hair done at a salon. I also needed something low maintenance. I worked with Genesis, who did an amazing job figuring out the best way to give me what I was looking for. She looked at my inspiration pictures, asking me what I liked about each one so we could give myself a new look. Genesis worked alongside Morsa and Ingrid, who were very personable and also great to work with. The staff went above and beyond to make sure that I would get the best results by ensuring everything was fully processed before continuing. I will definitely recommend these stylists to my friends.

When I first arrived, the staff was very friendly and quickly greeted me. Throughout my service, the management and stylists asked if I could use refreshments. They certainly created a very welcoming environment. My hair stylist, Ingrid, asked me numerous questions throughout my partial balayage/highlight appointment. I found that I had never been asked some of these questions during a service. She was very resourceful and helped explain in detail. I could tell she valued my opinion and has been training diligently to perform well. I love to go blonde. Certainly, my hair is not as eye-popping blonde as I have been in the past (view first photo compared to second), but the color tends to fade as my hair loses the tone. I do add toning shampoo to help reduce the ashiness. Nonetheless, I think the color looks very pretty. My only concern is I may need to do another follow up visit sooner than my previous. After reviewing my photos from earlier in the week, I noticed she did a very good job keeping the color consistent (compare the third and fourth photos). There’s not a lot of change, but you can tell she fixed my money pieces and brought up the color a bit so it looks natural and the hair can continue growing out for a few months. Overall, I think she did a good job and the service was wonderful. I would definitely come back again.

Genesis, is amazing! First off, the environment is so warm and inviting. I heard about this salon from my sister. I did my own research and Genesis seemed like the right choice for the haircut I wanted, long layered, framed face and volume. I also got a scalp reset and man did it do wonders. She is such a sweetheart and was super informative. She answered all my questions and made sure I was always comfortable. I LOVE my hair. Go check her IG out @genonebeauty !!

After moving to the city, I knew I desperately needed to refresh my hair. I stumbled upon this salon and I'm SO glad that I did! I booked with Genesis and she did magic on my hair. She 150% made sure I left absolutely loving my hair and I'm truly obsessed with how it turned out. 🤩❤️ (Here’s a little before and after; I was dying to go back to full brunette!)

Genesis did SUCH a great job - I have a ton of hair and am always worried trying somewhere new that my stylist won’t pay attention to detail and really take their time and she really was so patient and made sure she got everything even, I am so happy! Great consult too, she guided me in the right direction based on my pictures I brought (how short to start the curtain bang with etc) which was so helpful and the result is gorgeous. One of my favorite haircuts ever! I will be back!! Love that the blowout was included with the haircut, so many places nowadays charge separately for that which I just don’t get. So reasonably priced for such excellent work!

Hi, I went to Ingrid for a partial balayage on Thursday. I attached the photo here of what I wanted vs what I got. I was aiming for an ashy blonde tones with dimension, and I stressed that I did NOT want any brassy/orange tones in my hair. My hair is very black so I completely understand that it may take a while to get to that stage, but Ingrid said that she can do it and made no mention of coming in for multiple sessions. She did a decent job and at the salon I did not notice anything at first. Once I got home and saw it in better lighting, I noticed that there was a giant clump of color on only one side and it was orange (I was fine with the other side). I went back to have it corrected and both her and her manager agreed on the issue that it was not blended and was a completely different color. Once corrected, the dimension was fine and blended properly, but it still looked a little orange. I mentioned this at the end to Ingrid and she just smiled and said nothing. I showered 48 hours after the correction (as reccomended) and my hair looks so orange and brassy in random places. Especially the area she corrected, it’s now a completely different color than the back (it’s brassy and the back is more blonde). Also, my whole left side is darker and more brassy/orange, while the other side is more blonde and brighter, so both sides of my head don’t even match. You cant see as much in the pictures but I tried to highlight the areas attached. I had mentioned that I REALLY DONT want any brassy/orange peices and she said that’s fine, she’ll make them cooler tones. This isnt the color I wanted at all and now i have to go to a different place to correct it because I don’t trust her to correct, especially since I have already gone back once to correct it and it still looks brassy and orange. I feel bad writing this because she was very sweet and kind and spent time to fix it, but I would not recommend her for black hair as I don’t think she is able to achieve a balayage on dark hair without it looking brassy. Im currently okay with one side that is more blonde, but I am upset that the other side is brassy and does not match. (First photo is what I wanted, the rest are my hair) EDITING in response to the salon: I want to stress that at the time of the correction, the rest of my hair looked fine and even the chunk that turned orange was only a LITTLE brassy at the time, and when I mentioned that and Ingrid didn’t say anything, I said whatever it’s fine. My hair AT the salon was not an issue. The orange tones showed up AFTER my first shower, which should not happen. I have gotten my hair bleached a variety of colors/times and never has it turned orange after the first wash. Also, I was never offered any home care products to combate brassiness, she only offered me treatments for dry/damaged hair, not the color. And I understand that aftercare includes blue shampoo to combat brassiness, so that isn’t the problem either. Again, I understand that the exact replica cannot be achieved, but hair turning complete brassy/orange after the first shower is not a good testament of a proper balayage job. I also think some responsibility falls on the stylist to do the best job possible and correct any errors they see. When I went in for my correction, she noticed it was chunky and orange but didn’t say anything the day before. She also even had a photo to show the intern what it looked like before the correction (she took photos after the balayage job the day before). She said “here you can see the chunky and orange, this is what it looked like before and this is what we’re correcting”, so if she agreed there were wonky pieces and had photos of it, as a stylist some responsibility falls on her to have said the day before “hey this looks a little wonky let me fix it” and do the best possible job.

I started getting my hair cut and colored by Cynthia when I moved to the neighborhood. All I can say is, wow, how did I not find this place sooner?! Everyone at this salon is super attentive and friendly, and the haircuts and balayage I’ve gotten are better quality than other salons in the city I’ve been to. Prices are more than reasonable, too. I’ll keep coming back as long as I’m living in Chicago!

Worst haircut I have ever gotten, literally; the other hair salon I went to after them couldn't believe what they did to my hair. My stylist was clearly a beginner as she kept asking the other stylists for advice during my haircut. The staff was not professional, on their phones for half an hour between clients leaving cut hair on the floor instead of cleaning. I wish I had never been there, now it is going to take years for my hair to get back to something not hideous. (Edit since owner responded: it was on 2/6/2024, 11am. I waited to post the review so that it would be accurate and not reflect the heat of the moment.)

This is my favorite salon! All of the girls are so sweet and friendly. Alexis and Cynthia both do an amazing job on my hair. 10/10 experience every time I go there and would 100% recommend this place. My hair has truly never looked better!!

I had my first hair appointment with Doni and she gave me a cut 90’s blow out and gave me some cute layers. It was a pleasure to talk too and she was super sweet. You know I already booked my next appointment 🥰.

Alexis is an excellent stylist who both respects your preferred length and style and will make practical recommendations based on how you style your hair daily. I always leave this salon with more knowledge on how to care for my scalp and hair.

My daughter left extremely satisfied with her new style. Ingrid did an amazing job and was very knowledgeable in what my daughter wanted (she's 16 and first real hairstyle). I'm totally thrilled w the outcome. In fact, I'm going back for my turn. The staff was very friendly and enjoyed chatting with them.

Doni asked how I felt about getting a new hair cut. I didn’t have an answer. I showed her a picture and she delivered! Now I feel like a different woman with life and hair goals, smiling and moving my head just to see my hair move with me!! I’ll def be back :)
