I have learned to be pretty cautious when using Groupon. And this salon is one of the reasons why. Many companies on Groupon list a very good price and then put sort of hidden fees on the back end to make the deal much less of a deal. I saw a Groupon for this salon for $28.35 for a haircut and conditioning treatment. While booking, I was informed by the person scheduling the appointment that a surcharge would apply for hair longer than "shoulder length." However, the exact amount of this surcharge was not clear and could only be determined after an in-person consultation. I was told it might start at $15 but could be higher depending on their assessment. At present my hair is just below shoulder length, and I was trying to ascertain how strict that measurement was. The lack of clarity during booking was frustrating. I was only looking for a small trim, not a major style change, so the possibility of an undefined additional charge felt excessive and deterred me from proceeding. I asked some questions around that, letting them know that my hair was not much below shoulders and I only wanted a dusting trim off of the ends (not even layers or something) and I was only given an answer that it was their policy. They suggested that this might not be the salon for me based on my questions, so I felt like my business would not be welcomed there. Apparently there are also additional charges for hair density and texture and that also feels like it would disproportionately impact certain races and I'm not about that. Frankly, I feel like this tactic is a bit short-sighted on their part. I moved somewhat recently and I'm looking for a regular salon in this area. My impression of how the Groupon should be used is that it gets people in the door and gives them a feel for what you're about. If it goes well then you have a long-term customer for years and years. However, it really feels like they are using the Groupon as sort of a false advertising tactic. I told them I appreciated that they disclosed the additional fees before before I actually came in (I can only assume they had some very disgruntled customers when they didn't mention anything up front) but overall, I got a really negative feeling from this interaction + just wanted to warn others about the ambiguous pricing that you have to be okay with if you go here I guess. I just really value transparency and knowing a price up front and it's not something I could ascertain from this place. I would rather just pay full price than go in not knowing.

Honestly it's sad that I recommend this place to my family member, I had great experiences before with rachel and Gio. But unfortunately yesterday my family memeber didnt. Customer service was excellent! Stylist with red hair older female took the job of doing my family member hair, while hearing what my member asked her too do and not too do it occured. 1st : Specifically asked no dark hair or red hair ( which occured) 2nd: Left hair dye more than the time it was meant to be taken off because Stylist took another client to cut and blow dry their hair, its understandable to some point since it was only her and other young Stylist. But shouldn't start something if knowing you had to finish your 1st client hair especially with hair dye 3rd: Hair treatment wasn't left long due to conversation she had between her Stylist asking if this was a groupon . Which it is but that doesn't mean that it needed to be removed prior to the original time 4th: Hair cut , asked for layers due to her curly hair not to short but no layers where done straight and flat 5th: Why would you blow dry the hair with a detangling brush especially for curly hair and then used a flat iron to "fix it" frizz and burn ends 6th: $40 dollars extra for full color, but she told her Stylist this is not what I asked for, Stylist replied well it's even now, and don't worry that color won't last after you wash it. The point is if you tell the stylist I dont want dark hair or red hair it's because there's a reason behind it, not only that she went home disappointed but also with a reaction since she knows dark hair dye makes her scalp burn and itch. Overall wasn't the experience I wanted my family member to have, I feel bad for her 1st time coming here. But this needs to be addressed.

Very nice experience from meeting the wonderful receptionist Stefanie . To meeting the hair stylist Dee and Glory who gave me a inviting my 1st. experience in at Salon G in Jersey. Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, respectful , from entering to exiting. Two thumbs up. Thank you Salon G DWS.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this place earned it! I’m from out of town and desperately needed my hair cut. Found this place with some good reviews on google and made an appointment, I was able to get in within a couple hours of calling. Dee cut my hair and made me feel so welcomed. Everyone there was so kind and personable, and my hair looks and feels amazing! It’s hard to find a salon that can check everything off that you would want when going to get your hair done, but this place hit every mark!

2nd time getting my haircut and styled there. Sara and Glory were so amazing!! They made my one year old daughter and I feel like we were family. My hair looked and felt so gorgeous. I even got to use a Groupon! My new favorite salon!!!

I love this Salon. Everyone is so welcoming. They treated me very well even though I just used a groupon. Kim took care of my hair and fixed the disaster from my previous haircut. My hair is so soft and she listened to my desire. This is my go-to salon now!

The absolute best experience i've had w a new salon. I thoroughly enjoyed my makeover snd intense hair treatment. My hair feels amazing and looks as amazing as I feel. Dee was truly amazing. CANT WAIT TO VISIT NEXT time we are in NJ. Truly the best experience. Went in w frizzy chemo hair . Left w gorgeous hair with soft movement. 😘❤️

Absolutely amazing I had a Groupon which usually other salons give u bad quality and rush through service. I mentioned it when making appt and got appt next day w Dee. She was very informative and did great job w haircut and color. Will be my go to salon from now on

Dean is an expert, I am super happy with my hair cut. She also blow dries like a pro. The only reason I take away a star is because their deep conditioning is rather disappointing. It’s just regular conditioner post hair wash. I was expecting it to be spa-ish. I got a groupon that costed 35$ and I paid an additional 15$ due to the length of my hair.

My stylist left Glen Rock to work here at Salon G and I followed her but I'm concerned that there was no response from the owner Gerard to the negative reviews. Not everyone has a great experience but it is helpful when the owner responds online to explain. And it is always more appropriate to contact the owner directly to fix what went wrong. I am very happy with my visits so far.

The salon owner Gerard can be extremely rude depending on the mood he's in. I scheduled a haircut appointment the same day and arrived 10 mins early to discuss what I wanted. I asked to dust off my ends with a face frame and curtain bangs. He cut off inches and gave me bangs above my nose. My hair was completely ruined. He then blow dried my hair and looked annoyed while doing it. he was trying to rush as I asked if he can add beach waves to my hair. Then a client walks in and shows up to her appointment with him at the wrong time because the receptionist gave her the wrong info. Gerard refused to style my hair and passed me down to a different stylist to finish the job. I walked out with the worst haircut of my life and -$90. AVOID COMING HERE!!!!!!! I did get my hair fixed at Mella Hair Salon in Totowa with Leda whos also the salon owner She worked her magic on my hair go look her up!

Had to go back because my hair was cut uneven. Saw that it was still uneven after coming back The second time (and they also charge me a $15 fee to fix their own mistake) decided to just cut my losses and go somewhere else.

I have been going to this salon for over 10 years, since I was 16! It was where my first hair color was done with Gloria and since then, I’ve only seen her! I stopped going for awhile just because of money but now I only have gone to her and this salon exclusively for my haircuts. Gloria is so friendly, always does an amazing job with my hair and I always feel comfortable! I’m always excited to share my life updates with her :) - truly recommend Gloria for any hair cut or color needs!

My girlfriend has been going here for a while, I recently moved to Jersey and decided to give Salon G a try. Sebastian was my stylist and he did a near picture perfect job with my hair! He managed to get it done exactly as requested and was well worth it. Will be coming back as a regular, I highly recommend coming here for a precise hair job.

The stylist helped me choose a flattering cut. I appreciated her suggestions and I'm very pleased with the cut and highlights. They are very focused on the customer unlike some salons whose personnel act like undisciplined teens! The atmosphere is pleasant & friendly.
