This is the only place in Philly that can do a cotoure cut and color on par with LA/NYC. Simply cannot say enough good things about the team. By some miracle, you can even get an appointment in under 2 weeks most of the time! Just do me a favor folks- Do not, under any circumstances, tell people about this salon. This is our little secret, ok? If y’all let anyone know how good they are, they’ll be booked 6 months ahead for a bang trim and I’ll come find you. Seriously. SSH……

Mami is a hair color genius and I will never go to anyone else as long as I’m in the area. I strayed once and came in with extremely botched stripey, unblended, brassy highlights from another salon that I didn’t think could be fixed, but Mami worked some magic and had it looking amazing. Her work always looks super professional and high-end.

I am so grateful Salon JKU has brought this level of talent to Philadelphia! I used to go to NYC for color, but Seiko is literally the best colorist I have ever been to. Hair treatments are amazing, everyone is really nice and very professional.

I cannot say enough nice things about Johnny and his team. He came highly recommended by a fried from NY (who still comes and see him in PHL) and I couldn't be happier. If you are in any way picky and want a perfect haircut he is your guy.

I'm leaving this review because I am someone who often looks up places for reviews. I get full highlights with Seiko and it is always an AMAZING experience. Every time I leave the salon, I'm so so happy with the results. The salon itself is right on 15th and Walnut and not only is it super upscale/clean/modern, but it is a really relaxing atmosphere since it's quiet and they play instrumental music. The staff is super professional and welcoming and you can tell the attention to detail they put into everything. As a blonde, I've had my fair share of visiting salons to try to get the color I was searching for. It wasn't until I started going to Seiko that I've left the salon 110% happy. Seiko is SO talented- she often goes to NYC and Japan to learn even more to best help her clients. She is so genuine and all she truly cares about is that her clients are happy. As a Grad student, I can only visit the salon so often because I'm balling on a budget- but Seiko makes it worthwhile every single time and I'm always leaving feeling so satisfied and happy. Also, if you're looking for an updo this is the place. Cassidy did my hair for a gala and it was super quick and came out perfect. It also stayed in all night which was awesome. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a salon (whether you are a blonde or not), I would def try out Salon JKU. You'll see how passionate the staff is and you'll quickly be satisfied with the results.

Love Salon JKU! I go to Mami for hair coloring and scalp massage, and Yukari for hair cut, and they both are amazing!! I no longer have to wait for a year to get my hair cut and coloring until I go back to Japan! Not only their talents for coloring, hair cut, and scalp massage are excellent but also their customer service is wonderful. Other staff at Salon JKU are also very nice and overall great experience there. Thank you to everyone at Salon JKU!

The salon is absolutely gorgeous and has such a calm and relaxing vibe! I went to Yukari for a haircut and she was able to replicate my inspo photos perfectly. I have pretty thick asian hair, but Yukari took her time and was clearly very skilled with her cutting techniques. Definitely returning!

As an adopted Asian American female I never really had guidance on how to style and color Asian hair. I suddenly realized that maybe I was missing out on something for the last 27 years. So I went on the phila queens Facebook group and posted for Asian hair stylist recommendations for both cut and color and someone kindly recommended salon JKU to me and after looking at their Instagram and their stylists personal Instagram's I decided that this was the best salon for me given a lot of the stylist are of Asian descent. I got a full head balayage done by Memmi (@coloristmemmi) and haircut done by Chris Sotos. I cannot express enough how pleased I am with the results. PLEASE note this does not mean the salon is specialized in Asian hair only. I was the only Asian client in the salon yesterday. You definitely don’t HAVE to be Asian to come here lol I just really really wanted my hair done by someone of Asian descent since I’ve never tried that before. Anyway, Memmi did such a good job and was so pleasant to talk to while she was doing my hair she really is an interesting person with such a cool backstory. Same goes for Chris, who I had many things in common with. I cannot wait to return to the salon for my next cut and or color. PLEASE take the time to see the huge transformation my hair underwent in the photos attached to this review. Salon JKU is the premier salon in Philadelphia. Seiko the absolute best colorist around!! Met her in NYC years ago we are so fortunate to now have her in Philadelphia!! Love JKU!

This was my first visit, I was so fortunate to have Amelia as my stylist, she is a genius! After getting one of the worst haircuts in my life at another salon, she listened to what I wanted and was not only able to fix the previous cut, she made my hair look fabulous. I also loved the salon's atmosphere, clean, bright and welcoming with a very cool, unpretentious vibe, I loved every aspect of my visit and can't wait to go back.

All stuff were kind and amazing service! Colorist Mami did my hair color for me. My hair color was uneven because of bleaching by myself and grown root, but she did amazing job!!! My hair turned into very pretty! I love the color and so satisfied with the outcome ;) Thank you so much!

Great location as well as a top notch, professional, yet friendly staff. I thought the owner was a jerk at first meeting him. Pretty sure he didn't like me either. But don't let that stop you bc he is one of the best Hair Stylists I've ever been to. And, after a couple of meetings, it turns out he's a pretty cool guy. Would definitely recommend a visit.

I have been going to JkU Salon since they opened. They could not be more professional, accommodating or talented! Jonny and Seiko are the best team for cutting and coloring that I have found! They were trained in NY by top hairdressers there and they take it to the next level. They are worth every penny!

Johnny is an amazing stylist and true perfectionist. He clearly wants you to leave the salon looking your best, and he delivers. He spent an hour and 40 minutes cutting my hair and it’s never looked better! I’ll definitely be back, and will likely get color next time I’m in. Thank you Johnny and team!

Seiko is the Queen of Color. My balayage was exactly what I wanted- sun-kissed wisps that make me look like I just went surfing in Costa Rica for a month. And Johnny gives you that NY cut that you won’t find anywhere else. He’s got the edge. Love this place. Xx

This was the most enjoyable hair experience I've ever had, John was the best! I never knew my hair could look so good and I am planning on traveling from upstate NY to Philly just to have my hair cut by him again, every time. Still can't stop smiling a week later :)

I started coming to this salon when I moved to Philly and I can say it is the BEST hair cut I have ever received and will continue to go back every four months. I have gotten my haircut in Europe, NYC, etc at top salons and this outperforms all of them. They truly care about your hair and are very genuine. Would recommend 10/10

The best hair color service I’ve ever received in my entire life! As my experiences, I have really thick black hair which all the hairstylists I’ve had before really struggled with to get it dyed or bleached and unfortunately the results never came out as I wanted it to be. I’ve never been satisfied with any of my hair coloring done before until I met Seiko. Her skill is beyond awesome and I get amazed so much every single time she does my hair. I usually show her some pictures of hair color samples that I want on my hair beforehand and boom, I’ll see myself in a mirror with that exact color I was talking about! I still don’t understand how she does that with my hair but this is my first time experiencing the hair salon happiness that people are talking about! Their excellent work is also very efficient too! I had to move to another state but I still visit salon JKU whenever I have a chance to go back to Philadelphia for their beautiful work. I highly recommend this great place salon JKU!
