Kaz is incredible. He was able to transform my dull, brassy, and damaged hair into super voluminous and shiny hair. He is incredibly knowledgeable and is a true master of his craft. I can’t wait to return.

My first time at Kinya was nothing but wonderful. I felt like I was at a spa. Kaz was my stylist and he was able to transform my dull, shapeless hair with nice soft layers. He has been cutting hair for over 20 years and is very skilled with his technique especially when cutting asian hair. The staff was very polite and welcoming. I'm so glad they were able to squeeze me in same day. They are conveniently located near Grand Central and am happy to have found my now go to hair salon.

Disappointed. Will not return. I did not like the haircut and shared that with the master/owner. He got offended, wanted to defend himself and made me cry before the haircut was complete. Who needs this type of beauty service?!?

If you want to look and feel amazing, come here. My hair and I have a rocky relationship but this salon has given me a breath of fresh air. I've tried a fair share of salons in nyc but none of them amount to salon kinya. Beautiful, clean, well maintained establishment with kind people. Definitely worth the price. My stylist listened very intently to what I wanted, was extremely precise and thoughtful. I immediately felt comfortable and relaxed. For as long as I live in nyc, I'll be coming back to salon kinya. If I could rate this a 10 star I would!

Kinya is an artist. He not only listens to what the customers want, but also go beyond the expectations of what one would expect out of his or her style. I’ve been coming here for over a year now and there’s a reason for it. It’s a hidden gem that many are missing out due to its relatively discreet location, but I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a new stylist in the midtown area.

If you are Japanese or looking for a Japanese stylist who is trained in Japan, I don't recommend here. I am the one and I told the receptionist I want a Japanese stylist. The stylist was Japanese American who wasn't trained in Japan. I didn't care until I saw the final result. I have been always gone to Japanese salons and never experienced this anywhere in NY. The owner should know it's a big disappointment for Japanese clients who choose to go to Japanese hair salons because they are looking for the Japanese cutting technique, and spend nearly $100 to get a haircut that's really far from the expectation. She nicely fixed again and worked hard, I really liked her but the owner should be more aware of the situation and trained receptionists and stylists, if they care for Japanese clients. I feel sorry for my haircut and the stylist who has to do something she didn't learn how!

Talented and versatile hairdresser, Kinya, can give you the look you want! He respects his customers' wishes and will make suggestions if you ask. He is also knowledgeable about hair care and have capable, friendly hairstylists and staff in his salon. He has been doing my hair since 1994 when my hair was waist-length up to the present with my close-cropped hair.

Very nice service and cut. Can’t be more happy about the style created by Kirana. Was a little hesitant about a short haircut, but it’s for the new year!! 💇🏻‍♀️💇🏻‍♀️ recommend despite the price
