We love Crystal and she always does an amazing job! Both my kids who are 14 & 16 also see her, and she does a fantastic job. I highly recommend this salon!!!🤩🤩

Super friendly staff that gets you in and out looking good everytime. Craig Davis has been my stylist since 2009 when they were known as Uptown Retreat before moving to Dilworth.

Went here for 17 years and was apparently fired as a client without notice. With the move and name change from Uptown Retreat, I wasn't sure how to book with anyone other than Chuck or Craig. I saw Chuck and had an amazing haircut. You have to book online, and it offers you 'any provider', so the next time when I couldn't get in to see Chuck, I tried Craig. While he gives you a good cut, it was always way shorter than I had wanted. I tried to make another appointment with Chuck and every time I went in, it was changed to Craig, they even changed my profile to appear as though I never saw Chuck. I am not confrontational, so I went with it, I even tried to make a subtle comment regarding the difference and that I wanted my hair longer. Didn't help, it was still shorter than I wanted. When I say I want 3 inches off, I mean I want to leave the salon with it 3 inches shorter, not starting 3 inches shorter and by the time everything is done, it's closer to 5! My hair is healthy and long, only requiring cuts every 3 to 4 months. However after Craig cuts it, I have to wait 6 months because it takes 2 months to be at the length I wanted. Months later, when I went to make an appointment, I once again made sure to select Chuck, they called to confirm that I wanted Chuck as Craig was who I normally see. I explained the situation and she confirmed she could see I now had 2 accounts and she would fix them and let me see Chuck. Once again I was given a fantastic haircut by Chuck. However, after that appointment, my online booking for my account was permanently unavailable. I tried emailing and calling multiple times with no response. My one star review is really not for their cutting ability, although Chuck's haircuts are the best there, it is the lack of professionalism prompting the review. Fortunately, I found an incredible stylist at Denise Antonacci Salon and left with a fantastic cut at just the right length. While I am certain, I was fairly easily replaced as a client, I was happy to find out, they were too.

They have done a great job in re-designing the salon. And as always, Scott is always willing to try and work me in for my last minute realization that "I need a haircut and I need it like last week". One can tell he is passionate about his work and is willing to listen to his clients, giving me one great haircut after another.

Chuck was referred to me by several friends, and I am so grateful they did! I love a stylist who can look at your hair & face and know what will look just perfect. I seriously just got THE BEST color/highlights I’ve ever received. And my hair is so much healthier with more shape & volume. Feel very lucky to have found Chuck at Salon on East.

What else can you say about the best most amazing stylist in all of Charlotte, Daniel Davis! He is absolutely the best. He's worth the wait and the fact he is only there on Tues, totally worth it.

This was one of the worst haircuts. The stylist, Pennington, cut a huge chunk out of my hair on the side. Why I have no clue except he was all fresh and then I just said I was older than him to get him to stop so I guess this is his revenge. Yeah, keep that one around Craig! He's good for your business!

A truly professional salon experience. I've been a client of Uptown Retreat for over 10 years and loved every minute of it. From Renee, Salon manager, friend, and overall sweetheart to Chuck, salon owner, and master colorist, you can't beat the team at UR. They are so friendly and professional -- what would take other colorists 3 hours, Chuck does in 1, perfect for the working woman who is uptown and between meetings. Ask him for something 'new' and he's up for the challenge. Not to mention the cuts -- they last for such a long time -- if they have to, but you'll want to go back sooner just so your color looks fantastic too. He's really great at knowing how to cover 'silver' hairs too!

I have been a client of Uptown Retreat Salon since it opened and will never change. Excellent service, friendly staff, and state of the art styling - this place has it all. You always get what you ask for, never what the stylist wants to impose upon you, and you will be treated like the most important client of the day, no matter your status or income.

I recently got my hair done (cut and color) from Stacy at Uptown Retreat. I had heard through the grapevine that she did a good job, but I walked away so impressed! She hit a homerun on cut and color. So hard to find these days! Will definitely be going back...
