I used to go to Devachan for almost as long as they existed. I only started coloring my hair more recently as my former stylist convinced me. I had been looking for a replacement close to me. I cannot tell you how pleased I have been to find Mira. She listens to what I want in terms of keeping my hair close to my natural dark brown/black and is very accommodating and kind. It is always a pleasure to come in and be well taken care of and get such great results.

What a great salon! Reasonably priced for such amazing quality service. Angela did an incredible job with my haircut and color. I came in with box-dyed red hair (I’m blonde and my roots were showing)Jennifer offered a discount for me to stay and get the roots fixed and add some highlights and a gloss. Just note that when the salon is busy (especially Fridays and Saturdays) it gets loud and overwhelming for people like me who go into sensory overload. If you want it more quiet, aim for a Wednesday or Thursday around 1:00 or 2:00

I recently visited Salon West and left feeling disappointed. Trust me, I love supporting businesses and writing positive reviews but in this case, I just cannot. While I don’t love my haircut (mainly because of too many layers and the length), I also don’t feel the need to cry over it because you know the hair will grow out. Having said that, the bar shouldn’t be this low. The experience itself felt very rushed. The salon was clearly overbooked, and it seemed like the stylist was trying to get through my appointment as quickly as possible. There was little attention to detail or care, which made the overall experience feel impersonal and hurried. The chaos and the rushed environment prevented me from processing the outcome and saying much in the moment there. I understand that salons can have busy days, but a haircut is something personal that deserves time and proper attention. Sadly, that wasn’t the case here.

Jennifer was the absolute best, ive had very bad experiencies with other hair colorists, but jennifer did an amazing job. My hair looks so healthy now. Thank you Jennifer!!!!

Daveena, Veronica, Ahmed and Jennifer are so good and so patient and so kind. The whole team put so much effort in it and eventually I get the result that is much better than I expected. I highly highly recommend them to anyone .

I came in for a hair cut, everyone was very kind and helpful. They listened to my concerns and helped me find the look I was looking for. They style my hair very nicely and I loved the whole experience. The salon was very nice and clean Jennifer did a great job with my hair cut and Lorena did a great job with blow drying my hair.

Sonada truly is the best. She works fast but efficiently, and she delivers exactly what you ask for. She is also always so pleasant and cares about her clients. I found her while living on the west side but I’ve since moved to the east and will still travel to her. Highly recommend!

I can’t thank Sonata and the Salon West team enough for saving my hair. I came in off the street - no appointment, in tears after a hair dresser had accidentally dyed my hair blue! They rushed me in like an emergency room patient, conferred on their plan of attack, and Sonata went to town! The beautiful result feels like a small miracle considering the condition of my hair. I get my hair done by Ava here, and she is the BEST at extensions! She always suggests the best price, length and color, and is game to experiment with color and style in a really flattering way! She's the absolute best at what she does and I'd recommend her to anyone and everyone! I've had cut, color and Keratin by her and it's always phenomenal!

I moved back to the UWS a year ago and was very apprehensive about going to a new stylist. After doing the usual google / yelp reviews search, I decided to go to Salon West and was very lucky to meet Gianna. Now I'm a regular - in fact, I just went to get my hair cut shorter, but was a bit hesitant. Thankfully, I trusted Gianna who put me at ease and gave me another amazing cut. We were joking that I may even go shorter next time. She's also great to chat with - a fun, positive spirit. Thanks Gianna – see you again soon!

I was introduced to Ava at Salon West by a friend who had her hair done by Ava. Before Ava, I got my hair done by someone who did not do a great job at maintaining my color. My hair is a vibrant red that not everyone can do. First visit, Ava was amazing! She asked questions about my hair and what I wanted to achieve. She explained the process of how to get my hair where I wanted and was careful not to damage my hair. Not only did the color turn out amazing, the blow out she gave me was perfect! My hair was so pretty and bouncy! I’ve been to Ava twice now and I'm looking forward to my next appointment!

RE to owner’s response: Yes, I was very clear with my instructions and no you did not follow them. I also did not leave “very happy”. I was very annoyed because of how clear and simple my instructions were. I have also become further annoyed with the mumbling voicemail you left me and you lying about my experience in your response. Had my hair cut by Gianna. Told her I just wanted to cut down the sides and keep the top long. She cut down the sides but cut the top down way too far. Now I look like Jim Carey in Dumb & Dumber. Worse haircut I’ve had in a long time!

Was a very strange experience.. I called yesterday and explained i am looking for a woman’s haircut but i have thinner hair and just looking for a cut. A man answered the phone saying a haircut would be $70. I said i was looking for a cut between $50-$60 and i would just go somewhere else. I almost hung up but he insisted they could do it for $60 and “left a note” to ensure my price. Well i go in for my haircut. I specifically explain to the hair dresser *i dont want a bob*, i want it about half way between my chin and my shoulders. She said okay. She chopped all my hair off without even checking in about the length (which normally they cut half, check in, and then cut the remaining length). Well she gave me the shortest bob in my life! I was so sad. I feel like i gained 10 years to my appearance with this haircut. I could tell she tried really hard to cut it. But I just am so sad she took sooo much hair off. 😫 Then comes time to pay. They insist on charging me $125. I am already feeling sad about my haircut, let alone paying twice as much as i was told. i told them the man on the phone said $60– Otherwise i would have gone somewhere else. I asked to speak to the manager bc i wanted to discuss that i was unhappy with my hair cut. But then she said she could do $65 but “not next time.” I paid and just got out of there. Overall i will not be going back. I am even going to dye my hair to find a way to get my youth back bc this hair cut aged me so much 😭

angelica is a master at cutting hair. i was worried when i came in and did not have a very long consultation, however she immediately understood and expertly cut my hair. the only point off is because it felt slightly rushed. if you have wavy/curly hair go here!

Came to NYC last minute to see Tony Robbins and I was in a frenzy, trying to find a salon last minute to get a haircut. I had a great experience here with Jennifer and her staff and highly recommend this place! Stacy was super nice as well and I loved her energy. Five stars!

Sonada did a fantastic job once again! She executed my cut and color exactly how I wanted along with helpful styling tips. Not to mention how fast she works! I was in and out within 3 hours, when I used to having the service sometimes take almost a whole day.

I have been a client of Ava’s at Salon West for several years. I leave my look in her hands and am never disappointed. She introduced me to keratin treatments after my hair was damaged and broken post-pandemic and it became longer and healthier than ever. Ava is also super patient and personable with my 12yo daughter whose hair is completely different from mine. Ava taught her how to care for her curls and now she is invested in her own maintenance. Salon West is flexible and easy to work with when it comes to appointments and they always help accommodate a busy schedule. Ava is the absolute best — so talented, so easy-going, so versatile!
