We absolutely love this salon. Our daughter started going when she was 2 years old. For that age especially having a consultation beforehand was essential so that I could get acquainted with the space and stylist. Overtime I have received tips on caring for my daughter’s hair and she enjoys going to the salon. They take good care of her and she is now 4 with a head of thick, healthy hair. I fully trust this team of women to care for my baby and her hair and it’s nice that she gets some time for herself to get her hair done.

This was my 4 year old granddaughter's 1st salon experience and it exceeded my expectations. The stylist texted me with updates throughout the process including pictures. The salon is definitely set up to make children feel comfortable. My granddaughter's hair was done perfectly, I couldn't be happier. We will definitely be returning.

Amazing experiences...hands down. My daughter, her brothers, my wife and I love the atmosphere and have been thankful to find a natural haircare location for kids in Austin. Since our daughter has been going to SC4Kids, her hair is healthier and grown better than before. It has been amazing seeing the community of kids and their families at the hair salon. My daughter loves the place and claims it as "my hair salon."

I really do love this place the Owner Sonya is Amazing. She told me to trust her in Not only Growing my Babys Hair but Also making sure it IS HEALTHY.....MY child was almost bald when we started coming here and now her type 4c hair is THICK FULL AND HEALTHY!! I always wanted a Perm on it cause I hated the texture of her hair but she kept Advising me against it.Im very happy I didn't go anywhere else cause I feel very safe when I drop my child off that she is in Great hands with all the workers there. Anyone with children should give the place a Try !

I'm so sorry i went here a year ago. I wanted to post but I figured I didn't want to leave a negative mark. I waited till my daughter was of age for another shop becausemy daughter expressed how uncomfortable she was. As soon as I mentioned she was going in to a new shop she panicked.....so let me tell you why It was a traumatizing experience for my little one and an uneasy experience for me. I never had a salon that made you leave your kid by themselves. What I mean is you had to sit outside the door and could not come in because they believe children act differently when parents are near. Cool. I tried giving it a shot being that I am not from Texas and I see so many of yall accept this. Never again! (this isn't the norm for us). One... I sat there all day. That is not what she said the time frame was. Never should have taken me 8 hours to leave there. Two...she said clip the ends and she cut inches off. Now I know it doesn't seem like it but I went to school for cosmetology. You know you don't have to cut all that off. Once I learned this and saw this I vowed I'll never go back there. Because getting home it was uneven as if she did a dry and blunt cut. (Making it more noticeable) At that we didn't even get what we wanted. (I should've left then) I don't get the new age salons. We were told to wash and part her hair. I did that. My parts were in braids. She comments about how I didn't wash and didn't part so she was then charging me for both 😐. Salons use to wash and part anyways. But if she looked at my daughter's head she would have seen she has eczema. So its peeling not that its "dirty" or wasnt washed. This made my daughter feel insecure. She walked away for weeks covering her scalp (so thanks for that). Mind you my daughter has very thick hair. The moment you part it. It goes right back to where it was. BUT if you grab the hair afterwards the part is still there. Sonja after doing my daughter's hair wanted to tell me how my daughter needed salon etiquette. (What in the world is that???). I asked my daughter well we're you yelling, or being rude. She's said no she was hurting my hair and thought I was over reacting because i kept squiting and i tried to be a big girl and not scrunch up. She (sonja) told me how my daughter needed to watch the other kids in the shop😐. No sweetie. she's there to get her hair done not to be belittle because children who are use to going in can handle someone pulling on their hair, are holding it together better than a first time client. Then my daughter let me know because I kept texting her. Sonja questioned why she was texting me.... Why is that any of your concern??? She can text her mother if I'm forced to sit outside. I kept wondering why she was no longer texting back. My daughter mentioned she was too scared to text me because she felt uncomfortable. Also at the end of talking she mention how she didn't have kids. So I understood that she didn't know what it was like to drop you kid off with strangers and why I kept looking through the window. I'm hoping maybe this rule has changed. I didn't like how the cockiness had her tell me how she "pretty much made my stylist clientele". Im sure she maybe didn't mean any harm but my stylist is an amazing person and didn't have to do all that when I asked for children stylist. The only reason I'm making this post is because of how scared my daughter is now to even go in a shop. I no longer do hair due to my hands locking up too often. Kids come on and you should make them feel beautiful. Don't put fear in them. Don't make them feel insecure. The no parents policy seems to be in place so yall can say and do whatever without the parents giving the input. I love my black owned businesses but baby you last a nasty first impression with both my daughter and I. A salon trip shouldn't end in a child being traumatized years later. But thank you,

Such a cute and friendly place for kids! We have been coming since the summer and my daughter absolutely loves it. The staff is always so kind and makes her feel beautiful every visit.

I loved my experience my hair never felt so healthy and so clean they cleaned my hair so nicely and explained everything along the way and taught me a little more about my hair it was such a nice experience and I can’t wait to get my hair done again

I wanted this to work so much because the thought of a hair salon for kids with unique hair is wonderful!! G. Unfortunately, it did not work for me and my beauties with unique hair. First off, the communication was horrible! I took my kids to the shop for them to see my beauties and give their recommendations. I spoke with one of the owners and she told me to text the number that she gave me and she would contact me back with an appointment. I waited a week and she never responded. Onnthe day that I was finally going to text again or call, she responded that she was sorry for the late response and when did I want to come in. I texted her the date and she texted that they were all booked up for up for that date and those following. I asked when did she have availability and then she ghost me. I finally decided to call and I spoke to the other owner. She was super helpful and accommodating. She got two of my beauties in, for the date that I requested. My husband dropped them off and specifically told them no cutting/trimming. I picked them up and the beauties did not like their style at all!! 😞Mind you they are 9 yrs old but they definitely know what they like. It wasn’t the same as their normal style with their stylist in Houston but I thought it was still cute. The major problem though was what I learned on the way home. My beauties had told me that they had CUT THEIR HAIR!!! Shocked and hard to believe, as my husband specifically said no cutting of any kind, I thought my beauties had misspoken. I’m trying to figure out what they’re saying and they stated that they put it in a ponytail and then cut some of the end off. Shocked and still confused, I honestly didn’t even call the shop. I know that it would be an argument of denial and not understanding what’s going on. I know that my beauties needed a trim so I didn’t even have the energy to fight with a salon trying to take care of kids with unique hair. I just want this to be a warning to other parents taking their beauties to a salon and trusting them with their beauties’ hair. I just want it to be a learning experience for everyone else because it was definitely one for me. I still like the concept but don’t like how parents can’t be present for the appointment. I know that if I had been present, this would definitely have NOT have occurred !!! WILL NOT BE COMING BACK!!!!!!!!!!

This was my daughter's first time at a salon, first time having her hair professionally tended to. And it was my first experience with dropping off a child to have her hair done. The ladies at SC4Kids treated my daughter with respect and care, and she left absolutely giddy with her hair style! I didn't know what to expect going in, and I was nervous about leaving my 5yo. But they took good care of her, and her hair has never looked better! We will be back!

We’ve been clients of SC4 Kids for about a year now and we love it so much. The staff is wonderful and they care deeply about how we care for our kid’s hair. All of their staff does amazing work and is great with our kiddo. I personally appreciate all of the extra care they take to make sure us as parents are doing and learning all we can about proper Black hair care. I’m so appreciative this salon is in our community and highly highly recommend them to anyone and everyone! They have become like family and our child loves going and gets really excited for each visit. The new salon makeover is absolutely beautiful too. You can tell they truly love what they do.

Extremely unprofessional owner. I debated whether to write this review as I hate to be negative against a small black business owner, but this lady is extremely rude and disrespectfully. My daughter was held hostage for over 6 hours without me being able to talk with her, due to there no parents policy. I called several times to get an update and an attempt to bring my daughter food. Not only was the owner rude on the phone but she threaten to send my daughter our unfinished. Then had the nerve to talk bad about me to everyone in the salon in front of my daughter. This lady is a horrible person and should not be working in the service industry.

Horrible policies and unprofessional staff. Booked a consultation for my twin daughters, paid 30.00 up front, no one sent a zoom as promised at the time consultation, I called up there, they stated they were too busy and they rescheduled to later that day. Then texted at that appointment time asking to reschedule to the next day. Fine. Did consultation, that was great. Lots of good information. I made an appointment for both of my girls. Arrived at 4:13. Yes, I was 13 minutes late. I’ve never been here before, I’m new to Austin and couldn’t find the building. The girl at the front walked out and told me they have a 15 minute late policy and they couldn’t see my girls. I asked if their policy was 13 minutes or 15 minutes. She stated 15 minutes. I said “well it’s 413?”. She basically just walked away from me and said “no I won’t see them”. I was very excited to find a hair shop that could help with my daughters very curly hair. Quick way to lose 2 customers and very unprofessional way to handle business. Would give 0 stars if I could. Will not recommend to my friends.

I am so incredibly grateful for Sc4kids. When we first moved here I had no one to help me manage my kids hair. They were recommended by a mom I had just met so decided to give it a shot. Ms Sonya was so sweet, informative and you could tell how much she cared about the kids and their hair. You can tell she is careful with who she hires because her staff is just as amazing as she is. If your looking for a salon that will take care of your kids hair, educate you and the kids on how to care for their hair type and does great work this is the place for you.

I love the overall experience at SC4Kids! The staff is wonderful. As a single mom of a little it was a much needed adjustment in our hair care routine. Thanks to the staff my daughter loves her natural hair and regularly express the importance of taking great care of herself including her hair! This salon is excellent and revolutionary. I love that we get to experience a healthy environment that truly helps build confidence at such a young age! I do my part to help the process by making sure my daughter has snacks and anything else needed for comfort as the wonderful staff do the steps necessary to continue healthy growth and love on my 5 year old. I really look forward to the days SC4 Kids is in multiple states ! 10/10 I absolutely recommend!

So I’ve been coming to this salon for a few years now and I love it !!!! It’s very clean, kid friendly, safe, and they have amazing staff. My little cousin has a lot of hair and it’s hard for my grandmother to keep up with it so being able to access to a black owned kids salon that knows what they are doing is extremely helpful. 10/10 I promiseeeee you won’t regret it!!

My daughter looks forward to her monthly appointments here at the show. I drive 1hr away but the experience is great. The customer service is top notch I wish they had one in every state and every city. They genuinely love and care for my daughter's emotional and mental health as well as her beauty inside and outside 🙂

At first I had reservations about dropping my two-year-old off and having to come back, but my daughter enjoys it she loves the fact that she gets to pick out her own accessories. I just give her her tablet so that she’s distracted and she does a great job. The ladies in the salon are so nice! She has been there twice and gotten the braids and beads and every design that they do is so cute.

Our family absolutely LOVES SC4Kids. Not only does the owner Sonja take the kids hair seriously, she is very concerned about them in general. She asks questions and talks to them and makes sure their preferences are taken into account. Scheduling may be hard but they are flexible and will really work to fit you in. The styles last and are cute. This place is a gem and if you are looking for someone to ensure your kids have healthy and cute hair, this is the spot.

Sonya and her stylists are so knowledgeable about hair. On our first visit, she sat down with me and discussed products I use as well as what my daughter's hair needs. At SC4 Kids, it is all about the kids. They come first and it shows! I would highly recommend this place to parents looking for a kid friendly salon. And we will be back.
