I’ve had my hair cut by Kenya a couple times now, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! As someone with curly hair, it’s not always easy to find someone who truly knows how to cut and style it, but she nails it every time. The attention to detail and care she puts into her work really shows. The pricing is also very fair for the quality of service. Highly recommend Kenya if you’re looking for someone who knows how to work with curly hair!

Experienced Top Stylist ‘Dawn’ gave me a classic Short Back & Sides ‘Daniel Craig’ style cut. All scissors over comb, no buzzer & she was surprisingly fast, which I love. I’ve had so many compliments on it, it’s well worth the price & I’ll definitely be going back.

Quinn gave me one of best cuts ever. She understood exactly what I was trying to describe and it turned out even better than I had hoped. You know it's a great cut when it needs zero styling and has a lot of bounce and movement on its own. Layers and length are perfect!

I just moved to New York and have been overdue for a haircut I popped in on my way from work for as a walk in. Charlie did my hair and she did a great job! Always anxiety inducing finding a new hairdresser especially without doing research before hand. I love my hair and highly recommend this salon!

Five stars are not enough to commend Valbona. The clear communication and attention to detail in service are unmatched. Was a first time client and have definitely found the stylist I have been searching for. Highly recommend for color and cut. Bonus for an amazing blowout.. please go see for yourself

I have curly hair and made an appointment with Kenya. She’s the best hair stylist for curly hair that I’ve ever been to! She was kind and thoughtful about what would be best for my hair type, curl pattern, and face shape, bringing moisture back to my dry hair and carefully trimming away dead ends. I couldn’t recommend her more, she is perfection!

Valbona is a seasoned professional. I’ve been seeing her since 2018 and every time I sit down in her chair, I feel confident I’m going to get the color and cut I’m hoping for. Horrendous Experience with Valbona I had an appointment with Valbona for balayage, and from the moment I arrived, she acted as if she was doing me a huge favor, which she had never done for anyone before. During the color consultation, she gave me attitude, disregarded the original color I chose, and didn’t believe that my beautiful long black hair was untreated. She burned my hair with bleach, left me unattended for 2-3 hours, and kept calling me "sensitive" throughout the appointment with her assistant. I paid $600 for the service, including a 10% gratuity, which she checked while I was paying and trying to leave. When I asked why she didn’t gloss my hair, she lost her temper, complaining about how hard she worked and that she had two appointments. She sent me home with color all over my ears and left my neck hurting from sitting with foils for 2-3 hours. She double-booked me, burned my hair with bleach, and didn’t even do the gloss. Now, I’ve lost my luscious hair because of a petty stylist. The next day, the manager called to apologize but offered no explanation, refund, or additional service. The regular color washed out in 2-3 washes, and now I look blonde. She refused to take photos of the before and after and kept saying you can’t see the color because of the light. She refused to blowout the hair in a style that wasn’t her suggestion. In the end I just said I didn’t come here to argue about everything. I came to have a good time and feel better about my looks. Never book here, especially with Valbona. Worst service ever. Save your money ladies.

If you need a curly perm done Richard is your guy! He knew exactly what I wanted and he definitely delivered perfect results. He is very knowledgeable, focused and pays attention to detail when he doing your hair. The only thing that bothered me was I was charged $150 to trim 1-2 inches of my ends. I felt like a was definitely overcharged. I usually pay only $15 for a trim around my area with exact results but I didn't ask about pricing about the haircut.

Kenya took my long, limp locks and gave them a short cut to resurrect their curl and bounce. I had a great experience with her and, in a first for me, have actually pre-scheduled my next haircut with her.

I have been going here for years and there are some really good stylist and some really bad stylists it turns out. My latest hair cut experience was so bad I had to have it comped by the manager, who was kind and understanding. But I do really think you need to choose your hair dresser wisely.....! I don't think there should be such LARGE discrepancies in the professionalism, attitude and talent of hairdressers to be honest...

I’ve been a client of Scott J. Aveda for more than 15 years. (I started further back even further uptown across the street from Columbia.) How much do I count on them, well, I’ve been coming from Brooklyn every 6 to 7 weeks to work with Alyssa since 2011. Even in times when money was tight, that extra time and a little extra expense was always worth it. Staff is top-notch as a rule. Highly recommend.

I’ve been going to Michael for my single process for years now and he is simply the best! I am light blonde but have naturally dark hair and after seeing him my hair has never been healthier. Occasionally I’ll have to get it done out of town, and because bleaching can go wrong in so many ways I’ve had a lot of bad experiences elsewhere—but Michael always fixes me right up and has my hair looking great again. Highly recommend!

Review is specifically for the stylist Romeo. I had a 10:15 appointment and ended up going to the wrong location. I texted them at 10:15 I am in a cab over to the west side location. They said they had a 15 min grace period and I showed up EXACTLY at 10:30. It took them 1-2 min to check me in because there was a line of people ahead of me. Then Romeo proceeds to tell me we have rules I can’t see you and walks away with a total lack of regard or customer service. I told him I was here within the grace period, it’s not my fault there was a line to check in. Another hairstyles saw what happened and offered to see me, thank you Raphael for your kindness!

I’ve been getting by hair cut by Kenya for the past couple years at both the Morningside and Upper West Side salons. She has been the most attentive and talented stylist I’ve ever worked with. Not only does she consistently give me great haircuts but she is aware of my hair health and gives me personalized advice or treatments. She also focuses on my future hair goals. I know I am in good hands when Kenya is cutting my hair and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!

Michael oh Michael! Mr.Magic Hands touched by an angel!!! I was anxiously trying to get my hair colored & cut for a special formal occasion and was in desperate need of skilled hands to fix my terrible color (& damage!!) Michael is so gifted in the hair world that he easily gets booked up the wazoo! He only had availability in his busy schedule to address my color, but when he saw our baseline and our end goal he was able to fit me into his schedule and do everything I wanted in 1 sitting. I felt like a VIP even though I was a brand new client!! Michael is so warm and inviting, he made me feel so comfortable as I divulged about my life in the hours I spent in his chair, thank you Michael for creating such a safe and comfortable environment!! I am BEYOND grateful for how stunning my hair color came out- the colors create such beautiful definition yet blend together so effortlessly. Even though I was in dire need of a haircut to rid my hair of all the damage, Michael was still able to maintain my original length and even get my natural healthy curls back, like I said MR.MAGIC HANDS!!

Paid ~$250 for highlights to fade in a few days! :( It looked great coming out the salon, but I noticed changes 2-3 days after, and now a month has passed, it doesn't even look like I had highlights at all. My hair looks just the same as before, if not the roots being even more noticeable, which has never happened before after years of getting highlights done elsewhere. Extremely disappointed, paying so much, and especially as I only get highlights every 6 months to avoid damage. On my hair usually I can get away without roots being noticeable until about 4 months in.

The check-in was H•O•R•R•I•B•L•E. It was my birthday and my husband was inviting me my single process and blow dry. We left and went to their salon on the UES which was a blessing.
