Seagull Salon feels like home. The staff is welcoming. The space is cool. The haircut is perfect! Both Lili and Maggie have done fantastic pixie cuts for me. Very thankful this salon exists!

Been going to Seagull for years and love it. Katie is a fabulous colorist. I've had a few-- and she really nails my light auburn color with highlights. She's also a good chat-- extremely fun and smart.

Just got my first ever hair "gloss" (aka toner) with Maggie and love it! She suggested the tint (it's not a dye, more like a wash...I think) and was totally on point. I also had the usual perfect trim for my difficult head and would suggest anyone go to her!!

Seagull is the ultimate sanctuary for fabulous hair. I just celebrated my 3yr anniversary with Katie, and she is the absolute best. No strand goes unattended, she makes hair an art.

Lilli has talent that exceeds even her fantastic personality. The balayage and cut she gave me is perfect- she saw what I needed more than I did- thank gawd. My 3 year quest to find a new stylist has finally ended with tears of joy. I also just wanna say the Saturday afternoon I spent in the salon was honestly one of the nicest random interactions Ive had with a group of virtual strangers. The stylists, receptionist and other clients were all so warm, friendly, relaxed and funny. It was such a nice experience.

Not really 100% how to rate this place honestly? I personally have loved every outcome I’ve gotten from this place, I have always left feeling like a queen. So, if you are wondering if this salon can give you the look you want, I can definitely say somebody here will be suitable for you. They’re super versatile! For that, I would like to give 5 stars based on how pleased I was with my looks alone. However, I was completely ghosted by the stylist that I felt was suitable for me. I have absolutely no idea if I ever acted inappropriately or said anything offensive, or if my stylist just… simply wanted to move onto other clients? If it was due to an increase in price, I would have paid the difference just to keep her as my stylist… But it was really weird and I still am not sure what happened, I never received any explanation for that. For that, I think it would be fair to rate 3 stars due to the professionalism because, like many others, I am selective with who I trust with my hair and it was pretty disappointing being ripped away from a stylist I really felt that I clicked with and thus not returning to the salon altogether. After my last successful appointment with my stylist, I was supposed to return for a touch-up in the following few weeks. They then began to completely ignore every attempt I have made to schedule a future appointment, every call and every text, and acted extremely…. like, skittish and vague when I visited in-person…. even though MY head and MY hair is highlighted on their social media as well as the salon’s social media. I was wondering if maybe they took time away from work or no longer do hair, but after MANY of my sent messages being left on Read while I was seeing other clients being posted, it occurred to me that I was being intentionally ignored. It just made me feel very confused and dismissed and honestly downright offended so I altogether decided I’d stop coming to this location even though I really did not want to have to do that. However, I wouldn’t count this place out if you’re reading this. Their stylists, (or I’d like to call them artists, really), are very talented. I hope to possibly dip my toes back in here someday, but I do not know.

I love love love having my hair done by Carly. I was new to color prior to finding her, and now I feel like I know each step of the process! Easy to talk to, bright personality, extremely knowledgeable about everything I have had questions about with my hair. My favorite part of each appointment is when Carly styles my new hair at the end and our shared excitement builds to the big reveal!

I booked my first Seagull appointment in July, 2011. I came to Seagull for masterful balayage and cut and stayed for that and so much more. Shaun is singular, exceptional, and a magician who listens carefully and creates with ease. How does a salon with so much edge and downtown cool in its DNA feel so much like home?!

I can’t recommend Katie highly enough! She exceeded my hair expectations in every way. My hope was to transition from a vibrant dyed copper hue to a natural blonde that could grow out seamlessly with my brunette roots. During the consultation, Katie listened attentively to my hair goals and concerns. She took the time to assess the condition of my hair and explained the process involved in achieving my dream color. Bleaching/toning my hair took a few hours, but I had a blast talking with Katie and the other wonderful employees! They definitely do everything they can to make clients comfortable. I was so pleased with the final result and I left the salon feeling like a new person! Katie transformed my hair into a gorgeous shade of blonde that I’m constantly getting compliments on even 1 month out! 🙌

Love X3 this salon. A longtime fan of Shaun, back when he opened a three chair shop on West 10th Street. Now has a spacious, airy, edgey shop that is fun and friendly. I've had Shaun and Kristin cut me and both are great and willing to work collaboratively. Go Go Go!!!!

From the moment you walk into the salon, you are welcomed and at ease. Luke's professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for his craft are always evident. A couple weeks out from my hair with Shawn, and I’m still pretty darn delighted. He is a great communicator, listens well, and knows his stuff. I wanted to take 4-6 hours inches off my post-pandemic longer hair, but was a bit anxious about how it would hang / fall because my hair texture has changed with greying. The final result was super flattering, easy to style and maintain, and still long enough to pull back in an elastic for exercise. Everything I was looking for, plus a lovely process in getting there. I want to go out to dinner in Paris with Shawn! 10/10 - would absolutely recommend.

I looooove this salon, and I will never go anywhere else. Great haircuts, and GREAT color!! I always feel comfortable, listened to, I have fun, the vibe is easy-going, and I love going there. Getting my hair cut used to be a chore, but now I look forward to it because I get to hang out with Shaun, who is brilliant, lovely, funny, and a genius with my hair. An all-around win. <3

Shaun is the best! He's been my guy for over a decade. My partner sees/loves Kristen. Seagull is an extremely queer space. The stylists stay for years. Everyone is lovely.

Hands down the best salon in NYC! Shaun has been cutting my hair for years now and It’s always fresh, precise and just what I want—but better! The environment is super chill, everyone is warm and welcoming, and Shaun is really a genius stylist, along with being a great person. I highly recommend. No one walks out of Seagull without looking fabulous!

Long-time (happy) customer -- maybe 20 years? Shaun is my stylist. He and I can discuss my needs and desires and quickly arrive at a meeting of the minds. Carries good product lines, like kevin.murphy and balmain. He also can pass on little tricks that bump up my make-up regime. Maggie and team at Seagull are just the best. The place is very chill, kind and fun. Maggie does an amazing job with cuts and color. I trust her so much and she has transformed my hair! When I first saw her my hair was damaged and listless and not cooperating and I was unhappy with the color. She gave me great advice to help bring it back to life, and I love the color. My hair feels so much healthier, I get so many comments on it and she helps me feel my best. Katie too and the whole team are just great.
