I made an appointment for a teenager based on a referral from my own hairdresser due to scheduling. The entire staff was professional and friendly, the place is really clean and inviting, pricing is on point, and they did an excellent job on the cut/fade. The online booking process is great and having availability on the weekends is perfect! I just booked another appointment for this afternoon for the same teenager and I have no doubts they will do an excellent job once again!

This was my first time here and I was VERY PLEASED i LOVED it !! As soon as you walk in it is a very calm feeling the energy of the building was so wonderful, wonderful people greeting you when you walk in I got my eye brows done I am very happy with the out come of them usually i am weary when I’m laying down with my eyes closed but I felt so comfortable I literally was falling asleep I definitely will be back !

This is one of the best places I’ve ever been too. These negative reviews are just back lash from crappy former employees! The lady talking about split ends is crazy bc it’s not Seleny’s fault her split ends went half way up her head. Seleny is double licensed and currently in school to become an educator. I will not not go anywhere else. I trust her with my hair as well as my boyfriend! Her and Rene are a dream team!!

I was very pleased with my daughter's hair until about two hours after I left, and it started to frizz, and it smelled like burned hair. They don't do the traditional dominican blowout but more like a flat iron, but she's had both by othrr stylist, and it's never frizzed up within hours like this. Also, like other reviews, I wasn't aware of the price. I booked for $55 blowout and paid $138. I would have been okay with the $140 if it didn't feel like I was being manipulated and robbed. I was offered things that should have been included and without disclosing the price. She said it was posted. In which I didn't see but if you or even your husband is offering a product, you let the person know how much the additional charge is and explain it's not included to avoid the many reviews with people feeling like you didn't disclose your true price. My daughter is 11. Her head is small, and her hair is very dense due to alopecia, so the additional charge just for the so called blow out doesn’t make sense. They also added an additional $40 to clip her ends. The owners said that clipping ends is the same as a haircut. But a haircut is a style, and clipping ends focuses on trimming damaged hair only, but even so, how can you do a blowout without clipping the ends. It would look a mess. But a lesson learned. Sad because I traveled from out of state.

Today I went and they didn't want to serve me, but I waited and the cut was very bad. The first time and the last time I came. I don't recommend this place at all.

I came here to get a haircut for my daughter. This was the worst time I had in salon. A bald man came up to me and was yelling just because I was behind seeing how my daughter was doing since she is only 6. She’s not going to speak up if someone does something.

El trabajo está muy bien pero el precio se elevo demasiado a lo q me habían dicho q podría ser...no corte de pelo..no tratamiento.. base...solo fueron las mechas por casi 400 dls cuando supuesto serian entre 210 más taxas porq mi pelo no es largo para ver pagado eso y hoy fue mi esposo y le dijeron 30 mins y pues espero una h9ra y todavía faltan personas por pasar ..es mejor q d8gan hay mucho por hacer usted sabe si puede o no esperar

Went in to get may split ends cut by Seleny since a friend told me about her, left looking like Dora the explorer! Yesterday my ponytail alone was 3-4 inches past my shoulders, after my “split ends” were cut my hair doesn’t even touch my shoulders and my ponytail is barley and inch and a half (not even touching my neck). Not happy, and paid $40. No wash, shampoo, iron or blow out. Wast of time and money. Even after all the cutting my hair is not even cut straight across at all and looks choppy. Super sad and let down. Lesson learned

I love this place. I love the owners. I have never had a bad experience in the five years I’ve been going to Seleny. Whenever there is some kind of inconvenience, Rene does his very best to tackle the problem and to make everyone happy. I have watched many times where people come in and try to get over on Rene and Seleny. I have watched them accept as little as no money because they simply did not want to have a problem in their shop. These are good people. Honest people. I have also watched Rene check someone for saying not so nice things in Spanish; even though I don’t understand Spanish, but he wanting to keep a welcoming environment at the shop. That was big for me. That’s how I know they’re good people. And the negative reviews you may see are not accurate. Go and check them out. Great people. Great place.

I’ve been coming to seleny’s shop since 2018 (5 years) and every single time I have an amazing and top notch experience. Honestly the best barber and customer service I’ve ever experienced at a barber shop period. They are amazing here

I would CAUTION against going here. My mom, who is in her seventys, recently visited Selenys for her first haircut since losing her hair to cancer. Needless to say, her hair was pretty short. While she was there, a man was cooking and trying to sell her food from a back room. A group of men were also playing pool. She was quoted $110 for a trim&highlights plus $15 for eyebrow tint = $125 total before tip, but when checking out, was charged !!!ALMOST $400!!! The man from the back even had the nerve (after over doubling the price) to press her to tip. The woman who cut and highlighted her hair was nice and did a good job. Unfortunately, that's been overshadowed by the overbearing man who, in my opinion, proceeded to take advantage of her.

Listen this lady can cut hair she really can she isn’t the problem. Her husband is the problem he’ acts like he’s about his customers trying to smooth talk but he rips people off charges more than your told once you are done or you’ll walk in and he’s changing the prices as you sit there the reg prices are already to high this girl could go far she just has bad management. She could have more customers more barbers renting booths out which all bring way more money than charging insane prices when it’s all said and done it’s bad business I’ve never seen anything like it really . The girl works hard i know it’s not her it’s her husband he’s in charge of prices trying to manage her shop pretty much. She could be booked out a month good product and price sells.

10/10 recommend! Seleny is an absolute joy to be around and she does an amazing job! My boyfriend refuses to let anyone else cut his hair and it’s very obvious as to why! The salon is clean and very accommodating. There’s a pool table, foosball, some arcade games and snacks and drinks available! She offers services for everyone! I highly recommend paying her a visit.

Couldn't have been happier with the service I received! I needed color correction from years of box dying my hair. Also needed help covering my gray hair. They did an amazing job. Excellent customer service. I will definitely be coming here from now on. Highly recommend!!!

I recently visited Selenys for a haircut and highlights, and I must say, it was an incredible experience. Seleny is incredibly talented, and not only did she do a fantastic job with my hair, but they also gave me some amazing suggestions that perfectly suited my style. Perfection. Every time. I’ve not been able to say that about any other barber in my life. They specifically know men’s hair VERY well. Super pleasant people who value their trade and every customer experience. The people who left bad reviews here are people who refuse to own their own ridiculous actions and were intentionally trying to hurt this business. There are skanks like that, with bent minds everywhere. Go and see what a skilled barber and stylist Rene is. Go there - take your whole family there. You and they will walk out of there looking like a million new dollars. She’s also quite fast, which is unusual. Check out their new location in the now-revitalized Southern Plaza. Several great new stores going in, lots are being resurfaced - much easier to get in and out at this location.

Seleny and her husband Renee are the best in the hair care business. I started going to Seleny last year. She has made my hair very healthy and it's growing longer than ever. Seleny takes her time with you. No rush at all. Any time I need to come in she accommodates me. And any time that I need to cancel she is very understanding. She isn't there just to do your hair. She actually genuinely cares about you as a person. Her work is the greatest. Her salon offers any type of hair or style and Seleny can master it. For all of your hair care needs please visit Seleny you will be impressed. Her husband is exceptionally nice and he genuinely cares about you as well. Renee welcome customers by offering hot coffee and just a very relaxing conversation. Seleny and Renee offer more than hair care they offer you their sincere hearts. I will never go any where else. So they lied about the cost of the hair cut and dye. Then when I finally got into a chair, I said I didn't want the more expensive treatment they still charged me over 100$ and let a man do my hair and he dyed my hair the completely wrong color. I wanted deep purple and I got brown black. Nothing special about the cut, the dye was a simple color and he was rough with my head.

Update: Seleny's has changed location. 12/29/2023 So I go to my normal spot for a haircut and nothing is there. A phone call revealed that there was no need to panic but definite need to make a 3 minute drive north on East St. I reached the new location and upon entry it seemed as if I entered into a dream. Image if Valhalla were real but instead of a paradise for fallen warriors it was a sanctuary for loyal salon customers. A place where a man (or woman) can escape the turmoils of the world and enjoy more than just a haircut, but an environment that whispers, "brave and loyal customer, welcome to your great reward amongst the other great customers who came before you and who will follow after.". I know some will read this and doubt if my story could be true. For those that doubt all but that which they see with their own eyes, I have included pictures. As for the quality of service: Still top notch. As for the services offered: I suggest call and ask. I am but a simple man who needs not more than a haircut and shave. Women are far more complex and mysterious creatures of which require services that I lack the vocabulary list. Original Review: Apparently Selenys offers a lot of different things. I see them doing a lot perms and hair colors. Because I have a Y chromosome, I do not do the manicure, pedicure, micro-whatevers, etc. But I do demand a top quality haircut, beard and eyebrow trim. They do an excellent job. I had the same barber for over a decade, but she moved to Kentucky. I went years trying to find a decent haircut, a consistent cut. Seleny is top notch. Highly recommend. And I like the people there.
