I went to this place for a simple bang cut yesterday. I showed them the picture I wanted (as seen in the first picture) and told the stylist(Kazunori) that my hair is curved, so he might need to straighten it before cutting. However, he said it was fine and cut my hair in just 5 minutes. After he finished, I felt the shape looked a bit odd, but he assured me it was correct. Today, when I woke up, I noticed that no matter how I styled my hair, the middle part was longer than the left and right sides. I called the salon to ask if they could fix it for me, as the correction would take less than 5 minutes. However, they told me the stylist wasn’t working that day. Since I really hated how my bangs looked, I asked if anyone else could fix them, given it was such a simple adjustment. They told me I’d have to wait. Frustrated, I ended up fixing my bangs myself. I do not recommend this place to anyone if they can’t even get a simple bang cut right. I tried to fix my bangs and booked another appointment at their Union Square location because I trusted a stylist I had worked with before. However, the manager at that location called me and canceled my appointment, claiming it was because I left a bad review for their Greenwich Village location. This is completely unprofessional and caused me even more inconvenience. Instead of addressing the issues that led to my review, they chose to punish me as a customer. Unbelievable!

I chose this salon for my daughter’s (she’s 12) first hair coloring experience because they came highly recommended! And they didn’t disappoint 🤩 The colorist May was very patient to hear out what my daughter wanted to do, gave some great suggestions, and the color came out beautifully! Now I’m thinking maybe I’ll get mine done here too 😆

I’ve been going here for a while and never had an issue, but I recently went for a simple single process root touch up. I asked for a rough blow dry because my hair is on the fragile side, but the stylist used his fingers and blow brush to pull at the tangles in my hair. I came home and when putting up my hair in a bun, noticed a whole portion of the bottom of my hair had been fried off. No one told me at the salon, which I was disappointed by because we could’ve found some solution together. I didn’t expect to leave a simple root touch up with missing length at the bottom of my hair.

I have gotten 3 haircuts done with Haruka (she used to work at a different salon and joined Shair fairly recently so I started coming to Shair because of her) and they’ve been some of the best haircuts I’ve gotten. (I’m very picky about my hair.) It’s been 6 months since my last cut and I *still* love it and get compliments on it.

The worst and unpleasant service ever. I went there and left with a lot of small white hair here and there. I called right after for a touch up and they told me they have no spot available for me. So I asked them to find me a spot as soon as they have, that I am flexible. But they answered it will be too late according to their policy! Just don’t go there!!

Been going to the store for 5+ years. Service is really nice and the whole process has been always smooth. Unfortunately every time I went for dying my hair, the result was always not similar to what I was looking for. Since this happened multiple times, sadly it’s time to look for a new place. Just for reference the first picture was what I showed the stylist and the second was what I got (picture taken on the same day). Also the color lasted only two weeks.

I’ve been coming here for 5 years, and it’s my favorite salon I’ve ever visited. Koya is so skillful and creative! He always truly takes time to discuss the cut or color I’m looking for and it’s always exactly what I’m hoping for. Plus, I love the relaxing minimalist feel of the Houston salon and all the plants!

Needed a new salon after moving to the city and decided to try out SHAIR - I will be getting my cut here now!! I had Kazu cut my hair - he was so patient and talked out with me what I was wanting (as I was deciding to go short) and kept checking in and asking for my feedback. He was meticulous and helped me create the vision for my new style. Absolutely in love with my hair now!! Highly recommend, everyone in the salon seemed quite nice, and they seem to be quite busy!

Pros: good communication skills, appointments can be made online, stylist Meg is super sweet and customer service while in the salon is great. She seemed to be a pretty knowledgeable colorist and patiently answered my questions on coloring. Cons: it pains me to write this but the quality of haircut leads more to be desired. After washing away the salon blowout I see that my layers are uneven. My left side is visibly longer than the right side. Unfortunately my hair was styled at the salon which masked the problem. Mind you I asked for a pretty common style - past shoulder length hair with layers. I can’t comment on their other services but there are better options for haircuts, especially in this price range.

Unfortunately I won’t be coming back to this salon. I had pretty long hair, and for a change I wanted to cut it shoulder length and get some bangs. The hair stylist kept making comments about how frizzy my hair is and asked about 5 times if I use any products in my hair, instead of actually recommending me something from their product selection. After cutting my hair a little bit under my shoulders, they said they wouldn’t cut it any shorter cause my hair is so “puffy”. I took the recommendation. The really bad part came after when they started cutting my bangs. I showed them multiple pictures of that I was trying to achieve and told them it would be fine even with my god awful hair cause I had my cut bangs myself a few years back and it went just fine. They cut them super long (a length that wouldn’t even allow me to wear them properly)– after I asked them to go shorter they say they wouldn’t, again, implying they wouldn’t risk it cause my hair is so frizzy and awful. I ended up with something that you couldn’t really call bangs, but awkwardly cut chunks of hair behind my ear. I went home and cut the bangs myself (which as expected turned out fine). Not the outcome I expected after spending $150.
