After 5 years of being a customer at Shi's hair studio, I was extremely disappointed with the service I recieved last time. I explicitly scheduled an appointment with Shi, but instead was given another hair dresser. I showed the hair dresser a handful of images of the exact style I wanted and we verbally agreed on cutting 1-1.5 inches of hair. She ended up chopping off 3+ inches of my hair and giving me a style completely different from what I had shown. My hair is now so short I cannot even put it up. I would not recommend this hair studio anymore, they did not listen or deliver the hair style that was agreed upon.

I can't recommend this hair studio enough. I've been getting my hair cut by Shi and her colleague Chilan since I moved to San Francisco after college in 2012, and have continued to come back despite moving out of the Richmond district to Chicago and various locations around the Bay Area. Over the years coming here, I've come to consider myself not just a customer of Shi and Chilan, but a good friend as well! They are both consummate professionals and extremely reliable, not to mention warm and friendly on a personal level. We all know how difficult it can be to find a new barber, and I have remained loyal to this place because they know my hair, I always have a pleasant experience and a great hair cut on top of it. I like to tip well because of our relationship but their haircuts are reasonably priced and Shi even started selling succulents during the pandemic too! If you're looking for a new barber, whether you're a parent with young kids or a hesitant early 20s male like me that struggled for a long time to find a reliable option or anywhere in between, give this place a chance! You won't be disappointed.

Shi is a wonderful hairdresser. Small friendly neighborhood hair salon with very reasonable prices. Great for kids and adults. Excellent cuts and color services. I love her!

We love Shi's for kids haircuts. Usually were able to get an appointment if we call day of, they are good at following general ideas or photos for hair length, the kids love watching videos while they get their haircut, and of course there's lollipops.

Have taken my 10yo here twice, each last-minute sans appointment. Shi graciously found time for us, listened to us, suggested twesks, and my daughter left with hair better than she imagined. Will certainly return.

The best place in the Richmond district for a kid's haircut, hands down. Good prices, super fast, and they have a TV with a bunch of DVDs, making it a great place for a kids first haircut. Super nice staff, they even tend to squeeze me into me son's slot right after him when I need a haircut even if I didn't have an appointment for myself. The place is definitely a local gem. Not really a secret spot, but definitely a preferred vendor, so to speak. If you've lived in the neighborhood for any length of time, pretty much any boy under 10 you see will be sporting "Shi hair". 😂😂 Great place. If you have a kid and you're tired of scheduling hassles and adult-priced haircuts, do yourself a favor and *head* over to Shi. (ba-dum pssht!) 🙄🙄🙄
