Thanks to everyone who left your experience posted. I’m so sorry to hear about your experience but really grateful you posted your experience so that each person reading has enough information to make the right decision for themselves. It really helped me a lot with my decision, to avoid this type of treatment that truly no one deserves. Not only that but being aware of becoming scammed out of my money.

Expected a better experience for the price I paid. During the appointment she was on her phone and seemed bothered by questions. She didn’t create the luxury experience her prices were giving.

Does good work and provides a hair regimen for you to follow on your own. Always read the fine print. If you ask any questions for clarification on the policy, she will get defensive and tell you she has over 500+ customers (essentially letting you know that you don't matter much). Choosing a hair stylist is a very personal decision, being a hair stylist is an extremely business decision. Keep that in mind and you won't get your feelings hurt. Jackie is in high demand and her calendar stays full, but there is a subscription plan available for $25/month for early access to the books among a few other perks. Best of luck with your hair journey!

I wrestled with leaving this review. We all have bad hair appointments sometimes, and it’s not in my character to disparage small businesses, let alone one owned by a Black woman. I decided to write this because I think it’s important for others to consider. On April 21, I visited Six17 Salon for a regular trim + wash and go. After I left and could better see the results, I was very disappointed. Compare what I’ve uploaded to Google results for short wash and gos on men. Everyone’s hair is different, but Jackie achieved a great wash and go for me two months earlier. Also, I’ve considered her a great resource but I’ve pursued my own natural hair studies separate of her. Blending her advice with what I’ve found from other experts has allowed me to replicate the style between appointments, so I know it quite well. That’s why, after the appointment, I went home to wash out what she’d done and fix it to my liking—then I noticed the bad, uneven trim. She took off too much, approximately half of my length in the front, and the left side is shorter than the right side. I called her to express my concerns. I never raised my voice or even pointed fingers; I only said that I was disappointed with my hair because it’s not up to the standard I know she’s capable of, and I asked what can be done about it. Over the phone, she blamed me, my hair, and my care routines—this after, during the appointment, she'd complimented my hair's health, maintenance, and the style I did that I walked in with. If you need it, check Yelp for more detail (there's a character limit here). Overall, Jackie did not take accountability for anything. I didn’t expect a refund, nor did I expect a new appointment to correct what was done. I simply thought a business owner would be accountable to the experience she created however she deemed fair. My goal was to share my experience and work together to move on until she refused any accountability, and instead blamed me and my hair. This is why I’m leaving a review. Here’s where I think Jackie can improve: - Accountability for good customer service. At bare minimum, so little as an apology that I was dissatisfied would have been a great start, but that also was missing. - Better, more transparent partnership with her customers. - Setting expectations by explaining the needs of the hair during the appointment. - Acknowledge with certainty when your results haven’t been achieved during the appointment and course correct with the customer partnership. If you’re getting started on your hair journey, Jackie is a great local resource to ask questions and get ideas. - I recommend that you learn your hair. She has great tips, but some are outdated and some may not work for you. Try what she offers, learn what’s best. - Get involved in natural hair communities and run your experiences by others to better understand. - Be your own ambassador and pursue styles that you like or work for your hair. Like most of us, I take great pride in my hair. I’ve worked hard to grow it, learn it, and maintain it. It’s not my goal to disrupt Jackie’s business, because I truly learned from her and will carry some of her advice into my routine moving forward. Still, just like this uneven trim is now a part of my story, I think it’s fair this experience be part of Jackie’s story until accountability is achieved. I know my hair will grow back to my liking. It’s my goal that Jackie’s business will grow from this experience just the same. Thanks for reading.

If you are lucky enough to become one of Jackie’s clients, you are blessed indeed. She is such a professional and so talented. And her expertise is unparalleled in the greater Seattle area. I’m a low maintenance girl with high maintenance hair and she has made me love my hair again!!! I love our appointments and all the care she gives and shows me. I’ve read the negative comments here and believe me, they are unfounded. She’s excellence and she demands the same from you as her client. Rise to the occasion; you’ll never want to go anywhere else again!

My fiance went in to trim off the bad edges. She informed Jackie that he wanted to put her hair in a low ponytail. During the cut Jackie cut twice the length (6 inches) off and even prevented my fiance from seeing what she was doing while she was doing it. Now her hair to too short to wear how she wants to for our wedding. I'm sure Jackie has had other great experiences but you run the risk of not getting what you, the client, ask for when going to her. My fiance is shattered right now.

Please do not go to Jackie's salon. She will waste your time and money. She is not reasonable with appointments as she does not take accountability for when she is late or miscommunicates with you. Also, she blames you for her mistakes (which then she wants to charge you for) and does not accept feedback from her clients. Even to her loyal clients (which I was) she comes in with a rude attitude. There are way better natural hair salons out in the Seattle area. Don't get ripped off!!!

Haircut was not what I requested. Cut off too much of my hair on the sides and there was no blend despite me showing her a picture of what I wanted. She gave me a Mohawk type cut and I asked for a long tapered cut- showed a pic of the style I requested. She took great care of my natural hair but maybe did not understand how hair curls when it’s wet or was scissor happy and chopped off way too much. I am forced to wear a cap until the middle area of my hair grows back to achieve the look I wanted and I’m able to get it blended. I got 2 lengths instead of the 3 that I requested. She offered a refund of my haircut which I am waiting for but the cut is wayyyyyy shorter than I asked for with no blend. I believe it’s super important that clients are able to leave their reviews on a business but it seems I’m blocked from her Instagram and the Vagaro app that is used to schedule services so that others can’t read all comments and make decisions based on those reviews. I would hope that a professional wouldn’t block a customer…..yet a video of my style and cut is still on her page per my family members’ look earlier today. Super disappointed. Never had a bad haircut in my life until now.

I am incredibly thankful that Ms. Jackie exists! Before moving to Seattle, I was worried about finding a salon that could style my hair. Ms. Jackie is always friendly, professional, and gives great advice for taking care of my hair between salon visits. If you have 4c hair and prefer natural hair styling, I highly recommend this salon.

I was recently scheduled for a 6am Saturday morning appointment. Upon arrival to the salon at 5:56 am I texted Jackie using the number listed on her website alerting her that I had arrived at the salon. I received an auto generated text message saying that somebody will be back to me shortly. To add some background that will be relevant to this story later, this was my second appointment with Jackie. If you are unaware, Jackie’s salon is in a salon suite in Pioneer Square. The door to the salon suite stays locked at all times likely due to the surrounding homeless population of Pioneer Square. When I arrived to the first visit, I had to wait outside several minutes before I was able to get inside which was only possible due to me tailgating in after another stylist came and got their client. With that in mind, I sent the text notifying that I had arrived and decided to wait in my car until I heard further instructions that she was ready to let me in. As a young woman, I did not feel comfortable waiting outside in the cold and dark alone when I could wait safely in my car right in front of the building. Time passes and at 6:10 I call the same number and I get no response, just another auto generated text message. At 6:15 I receive a text saying my appt has been canceled and I have been charged a no show fee. I try calling the number 2 more times with no success. At 6:20 I find her Instagram and use the call function to try once again and I’m finally able to get in contact with her (Instagram was linked to another number). I tell her that I have arrived and I’ve been trying to get in contact with her via the number on her website. She responds that she has been having problems with that number and that it is now too late for me to be seen. She mentions that she was waiting inside and that I should have came to the door. I will acknowledge that I did not try to go to the door however based on my experience from the prior visit, I did not want to risk my safety waiting outside alone at that hour when I had no reason to believe that she had not received my text or calls. After some back and forth she stated that she would refund my no show fee and that was that. A week later I followed up with Jackie regarding the refund I had yet to receive and she tells me that she changed her mind about providing a refund. This is after I have sent her proof of attempts to notify her of my arrival via text and calls. Jackie took no ownership over the fact that she KNOWINGLY has a unreliable number on her website and sent out no communication directing her clients to her new number. While I own what I could have differently, she took no personal responsibility over this poor business practice. Had I known that she was not receiving my calls and texts, I would have taken a different action. Jackie’s handling of the situation and her decision to change her mind on the refund is unprofessional and distasteful. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company and with my text and call log evidence, I feel confident that I will get my money back. However, it is disappointing that I had to go this avenue to get it. I do not recommend Jackie’s salon due to unprofessionalism and lack of empathy.

Ms. Jackie is EVERYTHING!! I am so happy to have found her. I was in desperate need of a trim, that turned out that I really needed my hair cut (smh). I truly enjoyed my service and the ambiance of her studio. Ms. Jackie gave me some pointers on caring for my hair at home. She has a wealth of knowledge for natural hair! If you are looking for a natural hair stylist, I would HIGHLY recommend Ms. Jackie. She was prompt, professional, and extra personable. I have already made my next appointment!
