I love getting my hair done at this salon! I recently got layers cut and look how much it changes my personal look! I love it so much the layers lay so pretty and i’m loving my new look. I would recommend everyone to SL salon!!!

I’m so glad I found this place. I’m needing a haircut before the baby comes, I have a lots of hair(thick and easily tangled), hair is def the one last thing I want to think about during postpartum. Song recommended not cutting the hair too short to a point that I can’t tie, and I’m so glad I took her advice. She did a great job trimming my hair and not only it looks good but also fits my low maintenance lifestyle. I’d def recommend her. After the haircut, she did a quick touch up styling it with the flatiron, it looks really nice. I love it :)

I’ve been going to Song for a while and I always love seeing her and getting my hair done by her! I recently moved and coming to Austin for Thanksgiving I KNEW I had to come! Before; I had a perm done back in August (by someone else) and it’s just been looking super sad and fried. After; the Japanese straight perm + keratin treatment for $350 was actually such a steal! My hair feels and looks so glossy and soft.

I loathe to leave bad reviews for small shops in a landscape as rough as Austin but I think the attached picture speaks a thousand words. First of all, I asked for see-through bangs. The bangs ended up like they went through a hacksaw. I've never had any professional (at least one that thinks they're good enough to charge $60 for shampoo and cut) cut my bangs via lifting them up while still standing behind me and cutting them straight across. Without any of the usual pulling to, you know, make sure everything is level and even. I was also asked to point out how much I wanted cut so I gave a rough estimate thinking she'd at least put in an effort to make it symmetrical (spoilers: she did not). Secondly I asked for some thinning because my original cut grew out a little too fast for my liking. Instead of getting the shampoo or even misting to dampen my hair to straighten out the kinks I still had from bedhead and tying my hair back, she went straight to running my hair through with thinning shears. At first I thought she wanted to tidy the ends so I didn't say anything but next thing I know she was chopping at it an inch from my roots and here we have my lovely crown of frizz. Personally, I've been on the hunt for a local Asian hairdresser that doesn't thin hair using thinning shears because it makes my hair grow back ugly. I knew I would never return after seeing those thinning shears, but I did not think someone who claimed to have worked at the ever popular CNN Hair Salon and H-mart's Bono would be This Inexperienced. I've cut my own hair throughout the pandemic and cut wigs regularly, both using thinning shears, and I am confident I can wield those better than she ever can or will. At least I know where to cut and at what angle to keep the frizz to a minimum. I'm also most curious about the reviews that say she "really listens" to you. Personally whenever I said something I felt unacknowledged. Or when I was, the instructions went wayside. I emphasized wanting "a little" or "some" thinning and texturing and yet I ended up with a majorly butchered cut that I'm going to have to wait several months to grow out to fix. Lastly, don't believe the Vagaro review that says she's able to execute """Trendy Hairstyles""" well. The picture looked nice so I thought I'd give it a shot (lmao). When I walked in, she recognized the hairstyle I had so I thought this would be an at least average experience. I came in with a rounded silhouette and by the end of the cut I resembled a 55 year old southern housewife in that classic choppy square look. I stewed on this review in hopes that if I could at least make something salvageable via flat iron I'd lessen the harshness but it just made the frizz crown worse and it is a thing of nightmares. It felt like once she learned my real age, she decided to make me look closer to it + an extra 40 years. The cut was so atrocious that my partner, who usually tries to console me by saying something's not as bad as I think it is, agreed with me that it looked very Southern (to put it nicely). No offense to those who like that look, but it's neither something I requested nor wanted. I refrained from leaving a one star because the service was not horrendous, just the cut. The facilities were made the most of given Hana Market's age. It was whatever but I also understand you can only do so much with a room in an aging building.

Location: In comparison to other Asian salons in the North Austin area, this location was much more accessible and feasible in terms of parking and arrival. As far as the stylist, Song, she had done an amazing job in communicating and cutting my hair to the tee - exactly the way I had wanted. Super friendly and thorough with her work! Price is competitive as well.

Song is amazing artist! She is very skilled and knowledgeable beautician. I got hair cut and colored last week. I am very pleased with the outcome! I love to see my hair and my friends tell me I look awesome: ) Highly recommend!!!!!

I came to Austin and was looking for a new hair salon. Beauty salons are very important places for women. Perm, cut, Hair dyeing, etc. The director listened to what I said and decided on my hair style. We created wonderful hairstyles through communication with customers. People around me said I was really pretty. Highly recommended.

I’ve had years and years of awful hair experiences between cuts and colors, but I’ve finally found someone that can take care of me and my hair! Song is absolutely fantastic! My hair is not easy to handle, but she has dedicated so much time and effort to make sure that I am happy with everything. She truly cares about her clients and is a master at her craft. Highly recommend!

She was so amazing!! I had someone mess up my hair really badly and gave me orange stripes when I specifically asked for a full set of blonde highlights, but then she was able to cover it up with a beautiful set of highlights for a really reasonable price! She also gave me nice layers and fixed the previous cut and even braided my hair afterwards. She also took really good care of me while I was there, offered me water, tv, etc.I would highly recommend this salon over any other one I’ve been to my entire life!

Song Lee is a true professional who really cares that she gives you the most flattering haircut - that fits your taste and lifestyle. She also has wonderful tips to help you care for your hair. I had to track her down after she moved from her last location but it was so worthwhile. Her new salon is so clean too. Thanks Song for helping me look my best with minimal effort!
