I have been coming here since they opened over 15 years ago. All the stylists are great but I have mainly seen Angela over the years. I went in originally for keratin treatments and they were amazing. Angela turned my frizzy untamed hair into a soft, relaxed, easy to manage do. In between treatments I just brushed it or pulled it through a flat iron and it was pristine and I loved it! I recently decided to return to my curly waves and Angela easily pivoted and knows how to let my natural thickness work beautifully through layering and thinning it out. I’m really happy with it. Angela spends a lot of time talking to you about what you like and coming up with creative and helpful suggestions. This salon is more affordable than many and the people are welcoming and talented.

This is a long overdue review. I just moved to the city full time and had been looking for a place to redo my keratin treatment. Saw great reviews about this place and it did not disappoint. Angela was inspecting my hair type and gave her recommendation of doing the protein based treatment over the keratin. However, I was a little concerned as I had never done this before but then she allowed me the time to do research and think about the differences and did not pressure me to choose her recommendation. Additionally, Esther who is a part of her team also inspected my hair for a second opinion and had done both the keratin and protein treatments on her hair which gave me comfort if I decided to ever switch back to keratin treatments. All in all I decided to go with the protein treatment and I do not regret it. My hair was been so much easier to blow dry and maintain. I was also not pressured to buy any products from them but was given samples in the event I wanted to. Getting hair treatments like this in NY is definitely pricey but I will 100% be going back to get my hair done hair as the experience and quality were superb.

Friendly and knowledgable staff in a super cute and clean salon. Esther is amazing! Is super knowledgeable and actually talks with you about what you want and your goals. She also did baby steps with cutting my hair as I wasn't sure about how much to cut- she cut a little and then cut more when asked. She is awesome! Never had a stylist I would ask for name until now. 100% would recommend.

I am very selective about who I trust to handle my hair because I have had bad experiences in the the past and also experience thinned hair from having covid twice. On top of that, I only go to organic or natural hair salons because of the array of chemicals found in convential hair care products. I live on Long Island, but this salon came up right away when I searched up organic hair salons on google. After seeing so many before and after photos, I decided to call to make an appointment. I was able to get an appointment the same week and was also kindly offered 10% off services for new clients. Angela and her team were so friendly and patient with all the questions I had as well as explaining after care. They helped me decide between the keratin and protein and I decided on the latter. Angela was able to complete the treatment despite my hair being very frizzy and resistant. She cut my uneven layers that really needed to go. I was not pressured into buying any products or anything like I have experienced at other salons. I was actually given two samples for hair mask. I have type 4a hair and I was nervous about booking because I didn't see any texture like mine on the website. I was warmly welcomed by Tanya but everyone kept helping me because they are such a good team. I got to meet Katia, Angela, and Esther as well as Tanya. They are all sweet and kind. Tanya disagreed with my desired color plan and she explained herself so well that she totally convinced me. I changed to what she wanted and it turned out better than I could have imagined. She is really skilled. It was my first time coloring and they used organic color to preserve my hair health and curls. Could not be happier. For this reason, I see why they recommend consultations because they care about making you look great even if that means changing your plan.

Esther did an amazing job! She took her time and listened to my wants and needs. Even though I wasn’t 100% sure of what I wanted, she didn’t push me or try to convince me of what to do. She let me have the final word and worked with what I felt. My hair came out beautifully. I genuinely left happy. I haven’t been able to find someone to do my hair in nyc & I’m really glad I found her. She knows what she’s doing and did a great job! She cut it and did very natural highlights. Esther helped me figure out the best haircut for both my curly hair and for me as someone who doesn’t style their hair daily, and she did a great job! She communicated with me throughout to make sure I was happy and was really genuine and fun to talk to. Everyone else that was working there was friendly and Angela went out of her way to help me with something unrelated to the haircut. I will be back again and I highly recommend this salon!

How fortunate I was to find this quaint salon on a rainy afternoon. I had blackened my hair with an over the counter dye, it was not the dark brown it had promised to be. I was in a bit of a panic as I had an upcoming event to attend. I wanted to look my best not my freakiest. The owner, T was incredibly helpful. She spent time with me and comforted me that I could indeed be helped without incurring damage to my hair. One of her best stylist, M was available and she got to work on fixing me up. To counter the seemingly shiny dark hair she put in foils to tone down the color. The magic work and I left very satisfied. Again I so much appreciated the time and discussion that was given to me as a walk-in new customer.

Please come to this amazing hair salon😍 I have done the pro addiction hair protein straightening treatment with them along with highlights and haircuts. They do such an amazing job and all the hairstylist are super friendly! Esther, Maryana, Masha, Angela and Tanya literally have all helped transform my hair, this salon deserves more than five stars. Great experience overall and I’ve been coming here for a year and a half now.

As someone who has fine, straight hair I never know how to style or what products are best for my hair type. I am new to Brooklyn, and discovered this salon through Google, and I am so thrilled I booked with Esther! She listened to my concerns, and educated me on styles, hair products, and treatments that will work for my hair. She even took the extra time to demonstrate and walk me through how to blow dry and curl my hair since this has always been a struggle of mine. The environment of this salon is very welcoming and positive! I highly suggest booking here, especially with Esther! I am thrilled to find my new hair stylist!

I have been coming to Smart Hair since they opened over ten years ago! Angela has always done an exceptional job with my hair, which is pretty curly and...increasingly grey. I embraced the grey, so we don't do low lights anymore, but Angela has been cutting and styling to bring out the natural curls! She is warm, knowledgeable, and always receptive to your input.

I am a low maintenance hair person, and they understand this! Every time I've gone they've done a stellar job of covering my grey with my natural hair color, and adding just the right amount of highlight... for someone who hates obvious highlights.
