I’m so happy I tried Mya at Solo. From the minute I walked in the door, the experience was positive. The staff is welcoming and helpful, the salon is beautiful, and Mya is a real gem- professional, skilled, and communicative. She really knows what she’s doing and understands my hair style (butterfly cut with bangs). I was going to away more expensive salon for the past 5 years and was fed up- so glad I made the change!!!

Julia is absolutely fantastic! I've always struggled to find a stylist who understands how to work with my thin, fine hair. After growing it out for the first time since childhood—and dealing with a few bad experiences involving way too many layers—I’ve been hesitant about trying new stylists. From day one, Julia listened carefully to what I wanted (and didn’t want) in a cut and style. My hair is naturally curly, but I also like to blow it out sometimes, so keeping it healthy is a top priority. The glazes she uses for coloring have been a game-changer—they add shine and vibrancy without drying my hair out at all. Julia has also made phenomenal product recommendations that have completely elevated my styling routine. She never pushes anything I don’t need and always ensures I can see how something performs in my hair before recommending it. I love that she only suggests products she personally believes in, like a great dry shampoo that’s now a must-have for me. At my last appointment, I felt confident enough to just ask for her recommendations to change up my cut and color a bit—and, of course, she nailed it!!! Julia is friendly, kind, professional, and makes every visit an absolute pleasure! I can’t recommend her enough!

Mya is incredible and so skillful!! I love my new haircut; it is one of the best I've ever had. In fact, I live out of state but when I visit Chicago again, I will be sure to book an appointment with Mya again! In addition to a fantastic cut, Mya gave me a great education about my hair, and some tips for keeping it healthier. Thank you, Mya!

I’ve really debated leaving a review. But after a month & seeing what’s happened to my hair I figured better than not. I will say the salon itself is beautiful. Very pretty on the inside. And the stylist herself was nice. However- if a stylist truly is not comfortable doing a service- have them say so. Not just sell you on it. I went in very upfront I wanted to keep my natural root and as much of my natural dark color as possible with possibly a partial or full balayage. And yet I was still over highlighted to the point where there is a huge chunk of blonde hair on one side of my head & not the other. Although the stylist did offer a fix- I had to leave wet hair & come back 2 days later, this was only for my roots to be three different colors post 2nd try (see photos) and honestly not even blended. I had to go seek a color correction elsewhere after messaging the stylist & her reply being “it’ll wash out”. I wish she maybe would have asked for help from someone if she did not know what to do to fix the over lightening. The salon was full of other stylists.

Sophie delivered a great hair cut with great communication and styling tips. Sophie helped pick a new look that would suit my head shape and hair and made sure everything was perfect! Also gave me great product recommendations.

The staff at Solo Salon is so wonderfully warm and accommodating! Special shout out to Alisa who unfailingly transforms my hair into something beautiful each time. She is super talented and her consultations are thorough and thoughtful. I'd give her a million stars if I could!

They do not care about client customer service once so ever, I don’t recommend this place! My experience here was absolutely horrible, I went into this salon first time only to get matched for clip in hair extensions. Let me start by before I visited the salon I made sure I was clear that were going to be able to accommodate what I was asking for. I needed the extension overnighted to have them on time for a weeding. I went into the salon on Wednesday evening and my extensions did not arrive till Friday at 4pm ( after paying the over night fee) I was told multiple times that they were definitely going to be delivered on Thursday next day after my appointment. Which I explained to the director but she did not care or seem to believe anything I had to say. The stylist told me while I was sitting in the chair she would book me for Friday morning at 10 am, but my order would be in on Thursday. Very long story short it was their word against mines and they did not care about anything I had to say or felt instead all they did was refund me & left it at that it wasn’t about the money for me at this point it was the way I was treated as a paying customer did not care, very rude and treated me as if I was the one in the wrong. Horrible I came to them! There are WAY more better salons in Chicago keep looking. If I can leave zero stars I would.

This salon is gorgeous! The space is stunning, huge and welcoming all at the same time. Everyone is an artist here! They all take their time and ensure quality of service and product. Lo is the best (biased opinion but she’s my fave)!! Go check them out if you are wanting a change or just someone to take absolute care with your hair ❤️

Lo at Solo is amazing! Love how she handles my cut and color but also our conversations and her personality! The salon is beautiful open and relaxed, doesn't feel pretentious which I love.

Sophie did just a great job with my color correction. She was very fun and attentive and made sure I was have an EXPERIENCE. The salon was bright and welcoming. Will def be back!

I had a horrible experience at this place. I went in for a hair dye job with a new stylist and she told me the rate would be discounted since she is new and building up her clientele. I go to the front desk after my service and not only is my rate not discounted but they charged me $50 for a blowdry service as well. I would never come back and will warn others not to come here.

Lexi took a home hair color disaster and perfectly blended it! She took her time with me and gave me all the options and price points and together we came up with a plan. I will definitely be coming back to see her for color regularly now. Highly recommend!

Lisette is incredibly talented with both cuts and color! I've been going to her about a year and can't say enough wonderful things about her. I come in with style and color ideas and she always manages to translate them in a way that suit me best. She's also the sweetest. Can't recommend her enough!

I got my bridal hair and makeup done by Lisette at Solo Salon and it was a fantastic experience from the trial to the day of. She was super responsive to my requests and an expert with both makeup and hair.

Myself and a few other bridesmaids came here to get our hair and makeup done for our friends wedding. We were charged a premium “wedding” price ($312) for both hair and makeup. The experience was not good. The other bridesmaids were equally disappointed but I will only speak for myself. I’ll add pictures below for the updo I asked for and what I left with. The pictures speak for themselves. The stylist attempted 3 times before I just gave up because too much time had been wasted. I was the first to get my hair done and the others after me were denied any sort of updo. Luckily the brides hair stylist was able to redo my hair completely in under 20 minutes and it was perfect. Thank you to Seamus and Erica @ Golden Fleece Salon they are amazing and saved the day. For the makeup I’m too embarrassed to post a picture because of how dead I looked. For $150 I was done up with foundation, dark eyeshadow and lashes. NOTHING ELSE. no eyebrows, no eyeliner, no mascara, no contour, no concealer, no blush or bronzer. I might add that the foundation did not match my tan or blend at all and the lashes were not cut to fit my eye and were falling off by the time I got to the hotel. I left the salon immediately and washed it all off and redid my makeup myself. I will say the space is gorgeous, hands down the prettiest salon I’ve been to but execution was horrendous. If you need your hair done go to Seamus at Golden Fleece. If you need your makeup done literally go anywhere else.

Noelle is the best! I have naturally very dark brown hair and had a bad experience coloring it before. She has done an amazing job with my hair every time and makes it look ~expensive~, I get so many compliments. Also her blowouts are worth every penny, they last for days on naturally curly hair. Highly recommend her!

I have had amazing experiences at Solo Salon for my bleach and tone services. Anna is my go-to hairstylist, and she is the best! She is knowledgeable, always answering my questions and explaining the process, and thoughtful, making sure I was comfortable at all times and had a refreshment nearby. Every time I leave her chair, my hair both looks and feels incredible. I cannot recommend Anna and Solo Salon enough!

I have spent so many years with haircuts I disliked or felt indifferent about, that is until I met Cari! Cari gave me the most BEAUTIFUL haircut after having a terrible haircut from a different stylist at a different salon. No matter how many times I return to her, she always takes the time to have a consultation with me to fully understand what it is I came in for. She answers any and all of my questions that include styling tips, general care tips for my hair or product recommendations. There has never been a time where I left the salon not feeling absolutely amazing. My cuts always include curtain bangs and layering with a beautiful voluminous blowout. Not to mention, Cari is also the sweetest person and so fun to chat with during my appointments! I cannot recommend her enough!

Mallory is the girl you want to see for EVERY hair service. I dont care if you need styles (bridal or casual), a haircut that serves, or a color that makes you a brand new you, you MUST see Mallory!! She is so talented, plus she makes you feel so comfortable and confident! Love my hair today and always thanks to her. Do yourself a favor and book with the best stylist ever.

I had a lovely experience at Solo Salon! I got my hair colored, cut, and got curtain bangs and I loved how it all turned out. My stylist was Anna and she was so kind to me. I felt very comfortable and that she understood what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back and getting my hair done by Anna again!

Just horrible…beware of Kim she will do wat she wants even tho u may ask and send videos of da color you want ….She needs more schooling! $250 and my blonde I had at bottom is gone!! ….
