Great experience. I was nervous going to someone new after years (recently moved to Chicago). I booked with Letty after I stalked her tiktok/IG. She got my color exactly how I wanted, and she blew my hair out in a way that actually flatters my face. Highly recommend!

Matthew is just THE BEST hair stylist I've ever had, so professional and knowledgeable, really caring about my wishes and at the same time making sure to create something that works for me, having a holistic view - a true artist with attention to all details!! I literally cannot say enough great things about Matthew! He's been doing my hair since he was a student and even then I was WOWd by his technique, attention to detail, and helping me figure out a cut/color thar works best for me. He is so patient and is quick to pivot whenever I change my mind while in the chair. He has made my long locks flow and bounce and now with my thinning hair he makes me look like I had a head full of hair. Matthew, don't ever leave the city or else I'm afraid I'm going to have to come with you!! Look at his work on IG @matthewdoesmyhair. Also he's so cute to look at and funny as hell!

Bailey took me last minute to cut my long hair into a short bob and I was really nervous but she could not have given me a better haircut! Highly recommend her and the salon. The front desk associate was also very friendly and funny.

Shelby is fabulous - I felt like she really cared about finding what would look best for my hair and really understood (my rough description and couple photos) of what I wanted my haircut to look like. She was really precise and kind, and I absolutely love how the cut turned out! Definitely recommend her! Also, the salon was clean and everyone working there was really nice as well.

10/10 — Shelby is the longest hair stylist relationship I have had 😂 I have never found a stylist that both cut, color, and styles my hair to perfection every time…until Shelby. On top of feeling like a model every time I leave, Shelby is also someone you don’t mind spending 3 hours in the chair with. She doesn’t force small talk but is down to talk when you are. She is just very good at reading body language and goes with whatever energy you are giving off that day. There is nothing worse than paying to get your hair done and feeling forced to have small talk so I feel grateful to have found this gem of a human being. It also doesn’t hurt that her scalp shampoo massages are to die for 💆🏻‍♀️

I have been getting my hair colored and cut by Shelby for the last year and it’s the happiest I have ever been with my hair. I never feel rushed at all from the consultation through the processing and styling process. Shelby always takes her time to make sure that the look you’re aiming for is achieved. It’s clear from the time she takes that she takes pride in her artistry, and I always feel like a million bucks when I leave.

✨ 💎 SHELBY 💎 ✨ I have been seeing Shelby since June 2023, and she is absolutely amazing! When I first came to her, my hair was really long but extremely fried and stringy. Shelby did a complete chop, cutting my hair to my chin—a bold change and the biggest hair transformation of my life. Eight weeks later, I returned for a trim to see how my hair was growing and to discuss my goal of growing it out healthily. Shelby's expertise and care have completely transformed my hair. Over the past eight months, my hair has not only grown longer but also thicker and fuller at the ends, which has never happened before. (Photos below 👇) I follow all of Shelby's recommendations, from her preferred curling iron to her favorite texture spray and overnight hair serum for thin and lightweight hair. My stylist, Shelby, is incredible. I trust her so much that I just tell her to cut and color as she wants. I get so many compliments from friends and family on my hair and highlights. She is thorough and also recommends products that I love to use at home. The salon is also trendy and fun!

Shelby is the best hands down! She is very prescience and gives you exactly what you want/ask for. She has magical scissors and is an expert with color. I wouldn’t trust anybody else with my hair!

As someone who tanned more than I should have in the 90s, I'm trying to make up for my sun sins in my 40s by staying out of the sun, moisturizing, botox, blah blah blah. But more than stressing about skin aging, I fear looking ridiculous. So I was really hesitant to get a spray tan. But Leah made the process so easy and relaxing. After booking my appointment, she gave me clear, simple instructions (basically, shower then don't put lotion or anything else that can be absorbed into the skin on). I wore a bikini because I didn't really care about having tan lines and kind of like having tan lines but you can, of course, go naked if you want to. She was available for questions although I didn't have that many because she knew what to tell me up front. The appointment itself was so easy. Leah is professional and warm and friendly and kind. She knows what she's doing and knows how to make sure you're happy with the process. I was going to Florida the next day so she suggested a darker color than we would have if I was staying in Chicago and just needed the tan for an event. We chit chatted the whole time and the appointment flew by. The whole process was under 20 minutes. I got my tan done at 10:00 on a Saturday and was amazed to see the tan further develop throughout the day. I didn't need to shower that day but could have later in the evening. When I book again, I think I'll aim for an afternoon appointment. Other things to note: no discernible smell to the spray, no transfer to my clothes (you wear dark clothes but, still), lasted several days (I wore a one-piece in Florida and even though I tanned in the sun, my covered areas still showed the spray tan beautifully). Solo is a gorgeous, light-filled salon in a vintage building. There's valet if you don't have time to find street parking.

I can't recommend Shelby enough. I just started going to her, and she really nailed it with my color. Before she started, I joked that my hair peaked in 2018 and I'd never have it that good again, but after she was done, I feel like I have 2018 hair again. Right after I left the salon, a server at a restaurant told me "You have the best hair ever. It's like right out of a magazine." No joke. I almost didn't want to write this review, because I don't want her to start getting over-booked to a point where she's booked out too many months in advance. Lol

I highly recommend Dori! She did an amazing job and listened to everything I wanted. She was incredibly kind and she made my first experience in the salon truly positive! It was a great environment, very welcoming and comfortable.

Randomly came across this place when I moved to Chicago looking for somewhere to get my haircut. Extremely happy I did. Bailey is the best I can show her a picture of anything and she can do it. Great conversationalist and always offering tips for my hair. Would recommend this place and Bailey to anyone.
