Spa at Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis

The spa experience was amazing. The staff when we first entered showed us everything we needed! The facility was amazing in general. There is a hot tub, a red light sauna for women only in a certain area. Clothing optional! Showers for afterwards if you want, brushes, mouth wash, literally anything you need in the bathrooms! My mother and I were here for my birthday and we were so excited! I got a manicure and it was phenomenal, the tech and I had a great conversation and she did amazing on the service and my nails look great. My mother LOVED her experience with a pedicure, the massage and service in general was amazing! The lounging time and drinks we had after were amazing, waiting on our massage. Then we get to the massage, my mom has rheumatoid arthritis, and she told the person doing her massage beforehand about this, so they already have in mind they should be easy on her. The person doing her massage had no idea how to accommodate this, they were very hard on her and had her trying to raise her arms above her head etc. She told me after wards how hard this was on her body. I was explaining to her after mine that I was also in pain for 60% of the massage. I am not diagnosed with RA but I was in so much pain during my massage. At one point the woman doing mine said “you’re going to have to relax your shoulder, are you uncomfortable? Do you want it to be lighter?” To which I told her yes, just like I did on my paperwork (which they have you fill out beforehand to prevent this I’m assuming) that I don’t need deep pressure, which is why we chose “Swedish massage” over deep tissue. She did not go any lighter after telling her this. We also got the special “scalp treatment” and my person put warm oil onto my scalp which was great at first and then took some kind of stone comb or some kind of hard stone onto my scalp and SCRAPED through my hair. My mother said they did not do that to her for the scalp treatment. So I don’t imagine there’s a standard for how they do these treatments? It was a great laugh for us both to bond over but I’m trying to figure out what happened. It was 5:30 or so, so I’m trying to imagine they were mad we were there so close to them closing and trying to get us out, but that would be cynical I feel. As a masseuse there have got to be signs your client is uncomfortable after they tell you what they want and you’re not accommodating them? I also understand that people want the masseuse to dig in and get rid of any knots that they have but we both specified we want light pressure over and over, my mother needs it more than I do, and maybe I need it the same as she does but this was an incredible experience up until we got our massages.

Karrin gave me the first gel manicure that has EVER lasted me the full two weeks and it still looks great! Angela was a delightful massage therapist. Delaney took great care of me and made sure I had everything I needed. It was the perfect way to spend a pretty crappy day (November 6) quietly, alone. Overall a wonderful experience and made a bad day better.

I had the most amazing Swedish Massage by Mieke. I like to thank her for not only making my massage experience wonderful but for her words of wisdom. I love this place. Both massage therapists are great. I got the four hands. Both of the women beautiful but more importantly, they were very kind and very skilled, especially with the neck and upper back muscles, which are usually really painful spots for me. I have super tense shoulders and neck and they got out ALL my knots out. I left feeling incredibly light, relaxed and at ease. I scheduled another appointment before I left. Can't wait until my next one. 👍👍

"Awaken the senses with the signature aroma of Ginger Organic Aromatherapy in this deeply relaxing yet uplifting experience. (There was no Ginger Aroma) Our welcome ritual features energy balancing (not sure what this is because there was nothing that indicated anything special) and a eucalyptus foot cleansing technique to clear the mind (This was refreshing and about the only thing that was good about my experience). We continue with a full body lymphatic (these words are misleading) dry brush (horse brush that felt like a steel brush that scrubbed my skin) to flush out toxins and therapeutic hydration application with a light linen wrap (they wrapped me in the sheets). Conclude your service with a hot oil scalp treatment, collagen facial mask (it is a paper mask that you can get at Walmart) and acupressure face massage (this was for like 30 seconds) to leave you feeling balanced from head to toe." So very disappointed in this service. Please do not advertise that this is something special because it is not. The staff was incredible.

Enjoyable experience! Had a 60 minute massage, and stayed for the rest of the day. Loved the private hot tub and steam room in the mens locker area - complete with the chilled towels and robes, and a complimentary mimosa. Left feeling truly relaxed.

I had one of the most memorable experiences at this spa! I enjoyed an amazing facial in the lavender room with a woman named Jasmine who was clearly very skilled at her profession and extremely pleasant. If you haven’t been here I recommend a visit.

Such friendly staff which is rarer than it should be at upscale hotels, so it was a breath of fresh air. And great food at their restaurant for breakfast as well as their lunch/dinner menu. They made our 20th wedding anniversary a super special one, and I will definitely be back!
