This is such a cozy, creatively and beautifully designed salon. I loved working with Hilary for my balayage. She knew exactly what I meant by “surfer chick blonde” and executed it perfectly. She was also fun and easy to talk to for the 3 hours I was in the salon. I will definitely come back to see Hilary 😊

Tia absolutely knocks it out of the park every time I visit. Her creativity with vivids is so! much! fun! I love that I can hop into her chair and collaborate on our plan, then sit back and trust the process. I’m wowed every single time!

Tía has been doing my extensions for over a year. When I first started, I was very new to extensions. I have thin and fine hair so I’ve always needed to have a short bob to create a full look. I had always dreamed of mermaid hair and took a chance on investing in extensions. I have to say, it’s completely worth it! Tia is an expert installer. She has learned so much about my hair and tries new ways to install them to feel lighter and blend better each time. She is so careful in her work and is always educating herself on how to refine her skills. If you are someone who has been dreaming of mermaid hair, hit up Tia!

I have been Heather’s client for many years and I wouldn’t trust my platinum blonde to anyone but her. I appreciate that she is knowledgeable about classic styles and trends. Her salon is sustainable. I enjoy my time visiting with Heather, and I always leave looking and feeling glam.

I wish I could give 10 stars. Heather is a a master at her craft. She knows how to cut my hair, what will look good on me, what will work with my styling capabilities, and most of all what will work with my hair. Her salon is a funky oasis and she is a caring and delightful person!

Tia has been doing my hair for a few years now and I am ALWAYS happy with her work. There is a lot of open communication about expectations, upkeep and cost. The conversation is always incredible and Tia creates a safe and welcoming environment. I loved seeing Tia for my hair so much that I started taking my daugther to her for cut and color as well. We went to Sparrow to see Tia for both myself and daughters. We all have very different hair types from fine, to thick wavy to tight ringlets. She is a master in each of our hair styles. From curly cuts to pixies, you leave her chair feeling refreshed and beautiful. Her attention to detail, you never feel rushed and she is an absolutely professional. Another bonus is the Salon itself, the attention to detail and craft ship is amazing. It is cozy and welcoming. Highly recommend!

When you are picky and psycho about your hair, you need someone with experience. Tia not only knows how to interpret my needs, but makes the experience easy. She never takes things too far, but isn’t afraid to suggest something that would be a positive, uplifting and not over complicated change. As a daughter of a hairdresser I know how much expertise that takes. She is a goddess and a master at her craft. She’s also so fun to be around, matches your energy and is proud of her work. Could not recommend her more!

I love this salon. It’s so cute and convenient and it has a laid back, unpretentious vibe. I came here specifically to see Hilary Haas. She is a game changer. She is easy to talk to and understood exactly what I was wanting. It’s such a relief to finally find a go-to hair professional! I don’t have to go in blindly hoping my hair is going to turn out like I want I just know I can trust her. She listened what I was hoping to achieve and knew how to get there. I would recommend her to anyone and will be her returning client unless she moves away.

If you have curly hair, Maria is the freaking best!! I moved to this area of the city recently and was looking for a closer stylist, and came upon Sparrow Salon. I booked with Maria after coming in during their block party and her sitting down with me for a mini consultation which made me sooo much more comfortable. She walked me through how she would cut my hair and her style. That meant a lot to someone who has had more terrible curly cuts than good in my life. Maria definitely knows what she is doing. She not only gave me an AMAZING cut but also walked me through styling it too. Unreal! I have been getting a ton of compliments and people have been asking "did you do something different to your hair". And these are people who have known me for years and many cuts. Learning to style and diffuse my hair properly was such a special touch as I am the only one with curls in my fam so I have been on my own learning what to do with them. Thanks Maria!! Looking forward to my next cut.

Lovely salon, great vibe. They have coloring books, great light and cool plants. I’ve been trying to get my highlights just right for decades and Justine delivered today. Friends and strangers have been given me compliments all day. Justine was quick and efficient and I’ve never felt so good walking out of the salon. Thank you!

Hilary is amazing! She is able to cut my hair so that it looks great curly (my natural texture) and blown out (so hard to do!). I've been dipping my toes back into dyeing my hair after taking a break for a few years and Hilary has been so helpful in mapping out a plan for the next few sessions. Can't recommend her enough.

Very cute little salon with lots of natural light. They had a banner with a bunch of pride flags which made me feel welcomed and safe. I had my hair layered by Hilary. She did an amazing job. I have gotten a lot of compliments on my hair. I couldn't be more happy. She's amazing at what she does. I would highly recommend her.

Justine is an absolute wizard with color. I followed her here from another salon, and am loving this space. It's a bright, open space with some beautiful greenery and lots of neighborhood street parking. I originally started seeing her for a color correction from another stylist, and was instantly impressed with the quality of her work. I recommend Sparrow Salon highly!

Justine just worked a literal miracle. My hair was a disaster and I walked out of there after a hour and a half looking like I just drank some poly juice potion. I look like a new person! She is super cool and did a fantastic job. High five Justine!

Once I find a person that cuts my hair right, I stay devoted. Arlene recently got her barber chair set up here and I followed without hesitation. And when I wanted to grow my hair out, she listened and made it look amazing. The salon is beautiful and quiet.

The space was really nice and the stylist was fun to talk to and used really nice products in my hair, however my haircut itself was so disappointing. Nearly the entire time during my cut I was facing away from the mirror so I couldn't see what was happening, and really only saw it after she styled it with product so I didn't get an accurate view of what it was actually like. But after I got home and styled it in my usual style, I've cried two days in a row. My hair was the only thing about my appearance that I felt good about and this is so disheartening. I'm trying to grow my hair out really long so I can do better braided styles but needed a professional cut to get the ends to be healthier and saw that this salon had lots of nice reviews about curly hair. I'm mad at myself that I didn't think about how those reviews were for a specific stylist that doesn't look to be at this salon anymore, and not the entire salon itself. The stylist started off by pulling a comb through my hair to detangle it by going from roots to ends, which caused audible snapping noises to come from strands of hair breaking. She backed off a bit when I told her I had a sensitive scalp, but I feel like stylists should know with long wavy hair you have to start from the hair tip and incrementally comb your way up in order to be gentle and not cause breakage. Moving on to the cut, I tried to warn her that my very thick and heavy curly/wavy hair shrinks massively if the upper layers are cut too short and asked for a maximum of 2 inches trimmed, but the stylist still took off so much that the upper layers are probably closer to 4 inches shorter. She tried to give me long layers but it did not work out. My hair looks like it's got two harsh stairsteps rather than a gradual blend of layers. I'm so dismayed, it's probably going to take me about a year to grow it back to the point where I was really happy with it, because I don't want to try to do anything else anytime soon at the risk of losing even more precious length. 😞 I'm trying to comfort myself with the thought that at least the ends feel a lot healthier now so it will be a good foundation for my overall hair health going forward....
