Just wow. Tim is the absolute man and so unbelievably talented at what he does. I have a serious attachment to my hair and how it’s cut, I’m picky as all hell and a lunatic about my ends, i.e if you’re anything like me, book an appointment with Tim. He takes into account exactly who is sitting in his chair and what they want, he does not cut according to any trend or style (unless that’s what you want) but rather takes a full picture approach. If you are on the fence at all, take this as your sign to book. So, so worth it.

I had a great experience here! Deann was really friendly and listened to exactly I wanted with my hair. I have curly hair and I am usually apprehensive when new people cut my hair but I felt at ease. She washed my hair, blow dried it and straightened it before cutting. It was such a unique and fun experience. She gave me a shag cut and then went in and used a curling iron to give it body and volume. My hair looked so shiny, healthy and bouncy. I can't recommend Deann enough!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Deeann at Spoke & Weal in Austin, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Not only did she give me the perfect cut, but she also styled my 18-year-old son’s and my daughter’s hair beautifully. Deeann truly listens to what you want, and her attention to detail is unmatched. Katelyn and Tim wow what a fantastic duo. Tim the most in depth haircut consultation and has incredible technique. Katelyn somehow managed to put together the pictures that I was showing her and words that described how I wanted my hair color to feel to give me just the most beautiful luxe brunette hair color. Katelyn took her time to understand how I wanted my hair to look now and in the grow out period as well. The salon is beautiful, but Katelyn and Tim really just take it to another level. Will be driving back from San Antonio in February just to visit them again.

Deeann saved my hair! It had been almost a year since I’d had a trim because I hadn’t really liked any of the stylists that I tried in Austin since I moved here a few years ago. I had let my hair run wild all summer. Lots of sun, sweat, chlorine, and lake water and very little conditioning or care. The result was a long tangled mess with horrible dead ends. Deeann did a thorough consultation with me before shampooing, conditioning, and blow drying my hair. She did a dry cut which I’ve always preferred over wet cuts because it’s more precise. She was able to chop all of the damaged ends off while still saving a lot of length. She expertly cut long layers to give my stick-straight hair some movement and texture. She also blended in the curtain bangs that I had cut myself with my kitchen scissors while bored one day. She styled and curled my hair in perfect loose waves afterwards (I asked for early 2000s Victoria’s Secret model hair). I’m absolutely in love with the result and my hair is so much softer, shinier, and healthier looking! I can’t stop touching it now and the maintenance is much better. Deeann is a new stylist to the Austin area (and to Spoke and Weal) but she has many years of experience cutting hair! She’s a true hair professional who is also so sweet, personable, and easy to talk to. I felt very comfortable and confident sitting in her chair. While I was there Tim was also chatting with Deeann about the techniques they use at Spoke and Weal and it’s clearly evident that he’s an expert in his field. It was fascinating to listen to him explain how they do things the Spoke and Weal way and how detail oriented they are. For example, since I have dark hair they put me in a white cape instead of a black one so there was higher contrast and they could see what they were cutting more clearly. I recommended Deeann and Spoke and Weal to all of my friends! I’m so happy I found the studio. It’s my new go-to salon in Austin after years of feeling like I hadn’t clicked with any stylists. I am the queen of the messy top bun and my hair hasn't had much love in over a year. My long time stylist moved and it has been a journey to find a replacement. Deeann to the rescue! I don't always love sitting in the chair, but i enjoyed getting to know Deeann. Better yet, I LOVE my hair. I normally have to go home and play with it a bit after getting it done, but I left the salon feeling ready to hit the town. I have recommeded her to many friends already and will continue to do so. Book with her!

If you are looking for someone who is comfortable and experienced at dry cutting, Deeann is your girl! I love dry cuts but not every stylist will do it. Deeann previously worked in California for years where she had many long term clients, so she knows what she’s doing (she’s simply working on getting new clients since moving here to Austin). The salon uses Aveda products. After the wash and blow dry, my hair was soft, shiny, and very light feeling. Deeann did not over saturate my hair with product. My hair can be tricky to cut because it’s slightly wavy and frizzy, but the dry cut Deeann gave brought my ends back to life and is exactly what I requested when I expressed I wanted a trim but wanted to keep my long length. The salon is right next to Black Swan Yoga, so the only issue might be parking. Arrive early so you have enough time to find street parking across the street if necessary. Street parking in that area is free. Overall, a great experience, and I would recommend Deeann especially to anyone in the downtown area.

I’ve been searching for a new salon for three years and finally found it! Came in wanting a cut and color that is effortless yet polished and Tim & Katelyn delivered. Katelyn took my color to a whole new level, taught me how to keep it healthy…a true artist. Tim’s dry cut is nothing short of miraculous. He gave my fine hair movement and volume I never thought possible. He not only crushed the cut and style, but also taught me so much. Worth every penny! Will be back!

After my first haircut experience with Tim it felt wrong to go anywhere else. I typically only get trims, occasionally layers which most stylist are nervous to cut layers in longer hair so with his extensive background I instantly trusted him. Today I sat in Katelyn’s chair for a hair color for the first time. After not coloring my hair for years staying true to my natural color, I was ready for a transition. With Katelyn’s consultation I felt comfortable enough to trust her just as much as Tim with my hair. Most of us don’t understand the depth of color like Katelyn and other stylist do but she was able to explain the differences in the references I shown her. It’s safe to say I am more happy with the result than I was expecting. The environment that Spoke & Weal host is so welcoming from the whole staff. Gavin is the absolute best colorist there is! I first had him color and cut my hair last year and was blown away by how seamlessly he blended the pieces. Since then, he has moved to Spoke and Weal. While he no longer cuts hair, his teammate Tim takes over that part and is equally amazing, being meticulous with his cuts to ensure your satisfaction throughout the process. Gavin is excellent at informing you throughout the process and making recommendations. I was initially confused about what I wanted, torn between an ashy and a warm tone, which are complete opposites. Gavin thoroughly talked through the differences with me based on my inspiration photos to get a better idea of what I was looking for. This time, we opted for an ashy bronde balayage, and I am obsessed with the result. I highly recommend working with Gavin if you get the chance. I've already recommended him to friends, who are always satisfied with his work!

I wish I could give a great review like everyone else but I’m here to provide my honest experience. My hair came out nothing close to what I wanted or asked for, color and coverage wise. Yes everyone is extremely nice here and is willingly to work with you if you have a problem but even after bringing up my concerns and feelings and adding more to my hair, I feel I was not heard nor delivered on what I asked for. For $350 they should be able to deliver on what you’re asking. It doesn’t matter if the hair is nice, it’s not anything I asked for and I regret getting my hair done here and spending my money.

I would traveled back to New York just to get my haircut because I was very particular and couldn't find anyone I trusted locally. Then I found Tim, and now I no longer have to fly to New York. I happily travel from San Antonio to Austin for his exceptional service. From the moment I walked in, I felt comfortable. When I decided to go shorter, just a few days after my cut Tim booked me for a complementary haircut without hesitation. I'm thrilled to have found someone in Texas who matches the quality I'm used to. Highly recommend!

What an extraordinary experience at this salon! Tim Patrick was excellent and a great communicator when I got my cut with him. I went back and saw Gavin for my color and he did a superb job with such a gentle and patient demeanor. He also styled my hair perfectly after the color. I’m so satisfied. Highly recommend. Katelyn and Tim are experts at their craft! I have always wanted a natural look to my color, but never felt like it ever came out quite right until Katelyn, she is so so talented, and such a sweet person. As far as cuts go, I usually just add them on to my usual color, but I truly had no idea how much better a haircut could be. I always felt like my hair was thin, but realize now that it was just the way that it was cut. I could not recommend them more! So glad they decided to bring their art to Austin!

The booking process was insanely effortless and professional and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Have already come back for more in less than 2 months and can’t wait for my next appointment! I had *the best* experience at Spoke & Weal today. Brandon greeted me and welcomed me in with so much warmth and professionalism, I immediately felt at home. The space is fresh, clean and new. I've heard about this salon group for years and cannot express how elated I am to have them here in Austin and for my experience to be so fantastic! Tim, one of the stylists, introduced himself when he came in and we got to talking about a number of things, which was an absolute delight. Same goes for Katelyn, my incredible colorist, who was so easy to work with and absolutely NAILED the assignment! From start to finish, this was the most wonderful salon experience I've ever had. The services are worth every penny, I cannot overstate how good it feels to have so much trust in these stylists/this salon as a whole. Cannot recommend it enough!!

This is the best salon experience I've ever had and I'm so glad Tim and his team are here in Austin. I'd never done dry cutting before and it's made such a difference in my hair. Tim is a fantastic listener and has such a gift...I always leave feeling refreshed! I don't get my hair colored, but I've seen Katelyn's work and it's amazing as well. Highly recommend.
