I’ve lived in the city for 15 years and I own a cosmetic dermatology practice in SoHo. I’ve been through all the top hair salons in New York. I have found the dream team in Madison (colorist) and Liz (cutter), and have stuck with them for the past 5 years! They’re a delight, I always leave loving my hair. I refer all of my patients to them, and they always report back phenomenal experiences. 10/10 recommend both!

Amazing stylists, amazing work! Becca has been coloring my hair for seven years, since she was an assistant. I literally travel from another state to have her continue to do it — I trust no one else. She’s incredibly talented and personable. Anyone with blonde upkeep knows you’re in the chair for what can sometimes be hours and Becca makes that time fly by with her positive attitude and engaging conversation. Sarah has been doing my cut for five years and is the same way. It’s one of my favorite things to do in the city — you feel like a celebrity client and ready for all the photographs when you leave. Highly recommend!

I’ve been going to S&W in Soho for about 8 years and I couldn’t imagine what my life (& hair) would be like without the most amazing team. I’m naturally a brunette and I’ve been getting my hair colored by Becca Kraeger for years and she’s transformed me into a beautiful buttery blonde and the amount of compliments I get on my color is ridiculous. Same with the cut! I have extremely straight and fine hair, yet a lot of hair, and Sarah Manzone has done an excellent job at keeping my long hair look fresh and healthy.

After having a disappointing experience at the salon as a hair model for highlights, the management followed up and took immediate action to make up for the mistake from their part. The co-owner went above and beyond by even reimbursing me for the expense to correct my hair, even offering me my next highlight session on them. I truly appreciate this effort. This proves how much Spoke & Weal value their clients. Thank you.

I’ve been going to S&W SoHo location for almost 4 years now and I’m obsessed with my hair and the people that work there. Since finding Becca at Spoke and Weal, love my color every time without fail and feel my hair is healthier than ever. I trusted her to do my highlights ONE DAY before my wedding. Same goes for Jason and Sarah who I absolutely love for haircuts/trims. Also super important…I have never waited more than a couple minutes past my scheduled appointment. This is huge and something I’ve never seen at past salons Everyone I send to S&W has the same rave reviews about Becca and the entire staff. Cannot say enough good things about my experience. Background: I’ve been highlighting my hair for ~10 years, tried a handful of different salons, and always felt so stressed leaving the salon feeling like my color wasn’t right. Not to mention the fact that I used to waste away at previous salons for 4-6 hours for highlights (it’s not like i have thick hair).

I have thick wavy hair. This was the best haircut I’ve ever gotten. Only 4 stars cuz they did a dry cut, but never washed my hair for a blowout. No blowout made it pretty overpriced, but I’ll go back cuz the cut was too good.

Curly hair girls beware!! I tried out Spoke & Weal Soho because my colorist moved there and he is awesome. The haircut I got, on the other hand, was horrible. I asked if the stylist knew how to cut curly hair and she assured me that she did. She cut my hair along the shaft, roots to end, which I have learned since, created the most amazing halo of frizz around my entire head, root to tip. In a ponytail, it's even worse. All of this was unknown to me at the time, I left with a blowout since it's a novelty for us curly girls. I tried to make it work for almost a month until I finally called the Salon. I explained that Sarah M doesn't know how to cut curly hair and it seems like the only solution is to cut all my hair off. I reminded them that I've had curly hair my entire life and never expired such a horrible haircut. And, I would hate for someone else to be misled and end up with the same halo of frizz. The person on the phone was sympathetic and said they would have a manager call me. I never heard a word from them. An all around bad experience.

I've been a loyal client here for 7 years. I came in on time for my appointment and my stylist was running 20 mins late, so he had one of the junior assistants wash and dry my hair. She clearly didn't want to be there and she made that known by being rude and abrasive. She then proceeded to burn my hair and scalp by leaving the hairdryer on my head longer than necessary. I told my stylist and emailed and management. It's been over a week now and no one has responded to me. This is not the kind treatment and service you would expect for a $190 simple haircut. After 7 years of loyalty I will definitely never be coming back. I've had much better service with a $40 hair cut. Don't waste your time of your money here.

I've been to Akeem for a cut twice now at both the Flatiron and Soho locations and he is fantastic - asks exactly the right questions to get the style you're wanting to achieve. So happy to have found someone great after moving to NYC!
