As a West Seattle local, I love supporting the businesses that make my community so special. After receiving a handful of services here (about a year or so ago) I stopped coming back because the staff (in particular the owners and desk staff) were so rigid and rude. Today I made the mistake of giving them another chance because my new local spot was all booked and Spruce had a bounty of open appointments (now I understand why). My appointment was at 10:30, I showed up about 10 min early (as one does) only to find the doors locked, lights off and no one to be seen. I waited for a few min and decided to call (feeling worried because the hours on the door did not line up with the hours online), no answer. I decided to go wait in my car because it was chilly, walked back a few min later, same thing: locked door, lights off and no one inside? I called again (as it’s no about 10:27 and my apt is at 10:30) no answer. I decide to go back to my car and access the text feature on the website, the person on the other line told me that reception hours start at 11. I then sent my apt confirmation stating I had a confirmed apt at 10:30. The person on the other line when I asked if I should leave said “no, your apt is at 10:30 she will be there in a second” mind you it was now 10:30. I walked back to the front door and it was finally open (at 10:31), lights off no one to be seen (be the door was open - small progress I suppose). Then a woman walk toward me from the back and just stared at me, didn’t say a word, just stared. Eventually she uttered “your appointment isn’t until 10:30” to which I replied “and it’s now 10:31” no hi, hello, sorry I got here late, traffic was bad NOTHING. Then she says to me “do you even still want to do the appointment?” With a confused look on my face I said “well, you’re here and I’m here so sure, let’s do it”! To which she then said “I don’t like your energy - I was on a personal call that I had to take before you came in”. My response to that was “I too am an esthetician, have been for 20 years and I personally prefer to arrive before my guests and leave personal stuff to be personal while at work” she then informed me she would not be doing my service and was canceling on account of my bad vibe. When I questioned who the owner was (because this is the exact type of treatment o remembered from the past when I stopped going there) she informed me SHE is one of the owners. Interesting. Well Jenn, one of the owners, I’m not really sure how you run your business with this very in tune business model of being late for clients, taking non of the blame for being late, canceling due to “bad vibes” all the while bringing your own personal shit into your place of business and placing it upon your clients to carry your burden. So I guess if you’re into weird vibes and like taking time off work and out of your life to see if maybe your vibes match up that day in order to get a service you booked, then definitely go here. Otherwise there are SO MANY other super cute (and nice) reliable spa’s and salons in West Seattle to support that will be happy you are there and not out out. Good luck Jenn. *In reply to your response because I believe in giving credit where credit is due…. I remember that cancellation. No, it was not an $11 fee, you were going to charge for the whole apt EVEN THOUGH I was going to rebook at the end of the same week because I do understand how cancellations effect your staffs income. My child whose apt it was woke up with a fever. This is not meeting your client in the middle, especially when I was making every effort to get her in within the same week (same pay period) and with good reason. Thanks for suggesting I look within, I did and I see a good client who knows the industry, who was early like you want a client to be, who was met with a stare and no words. Perhaps practice what you preach you were not timely, you definitely weren’t professional, you barely treated me like a human, and you wasted my time. Too bad clients can’t charge you for canceling on them.

I had the best lash lift experience with Devorro! She was super professional, made me feel comfortable throughout the appointment, and the results are stunning! My lashes look longer and more lifted than ever before, and I’m absolutely in love with them. Dev is truly talented, and I can’t recommend her enough! My new go-to place to get lash lifts for eternity!! xx

I have super sensitive skin and asked for help at Spruce. The owner Jenn was so kind and helpful in educating me about the types of cleansers that would work best for my skin type. Jenn took extra care to make sure I would not be allergic to any ingredients in the recommended products and I’m so glad to have found Spruce Apothecary :-)

This is my petition to bring Spruce to NYC! One of the most aesthetic shops, with such wonderful shop owners and employees. I've had an incredible facial by Jenn, one of the owners, and I left the shop glowing for days after. While living across the country makes it hard to get into the shop as frequently as I'd like, their online shop is saved to my browser favorites and their shipping is always fast. I can't say enough things about this little slice of heaven in West Seattle!

I am head over heels in love with Spruce--they have me as a client for life. I love this place and all the humans who make it what it is. I am far overdue in writing this review because there are so many reasons to love this place, but my first experience with Spruce was so meaningful, I'd like to share. So, winter of 2020, my face is freaking out from wearing a mask all the time for work. It was a (painful) wreck. I had no skincare routine and was throwing everything at my face to see what worked (not recommended). Timidly, I went in for a facial. I was embarrassed of how I looked and how little I knew about self-care. Jenn, who co-founded Spruce, healed my skin, my confidence and ME...because where my skin health was at was really painful. She fixed that, with so much consideration and care; educated me on the process, the science, products, everything. She transformed my skin over the course of two facials + a total recon of my skincare regimen. Which, by the way, was not obscenely expensive whatsoever. I've had nothing but great results across almost all product lines, but if you don't have that experience, they encourage you to come back to find a better solution. How considerate is that?! Spruce is the place you can go and know that they have done all the heavy lifting. In all ways. Do you have to worry about googling all the ingredients? Nope--every single item is consciously and carefully curated by an incredible, talented team. Do you need a gift last minute? ALL YEAR LONG. Get an appointment with Sam for a lash lift and tint. I can't wear mascara, but would never turn back even if I could. This service makes my lashes look a million times better and lasts for 6 weeks. It's a locally-owned neighborhood treasure that gives back to its community.

I have been seeing Dev consistently for facials and my skin has never been better. She is such a funny and wonderful person who really has incredible knowledge about her craft. I cannot recommend her enough! And Spruce is also an amazing store that I usually frequent for gifts for others. Thanks, everyone!

Best facial! I got the 75 min holistic facial with Iza and it was just what my skin and I both needed. Iza is wonderful - they make you feel really comfortable and relaxed throughout the whole experience, ask great questions about your skin, and then perform miracles. ✨ I highly recommend booking a service with them! If anything, stop by the shop just to explore the great products.

Had an amazing experience here during a visit to West Seattle at Spruce Apothecary. My friend recommended it, so I walked in looking for new products and a new skin care routine to improve my complexion, and I am so glad I did! The owner, Jenn, welcomed me and talked with me, asked me what I was looking for and spent like 30 minutes making recommendations and introducing me to new brands. She was SPOT ON about everything. It’s only been 3 weeks and my skin is glowing, and better than it’s been in years. The staff is super kind, knowledgeable, and I felt taken care of. I wish I lived nearby and be able to get their skin services!! I love this store!

I am such a fan of Spruce Apothecary - all the things they carry in their store, the welcoming, sweet atmosphere and all the services they offer. I really trust them with my highly sensitive, acne-prone skin which says so much from someone who’s journey has been a long and hard one! I recommend them to everyone wanting to improve their skin, or just have some solid self care. Special shout out to Devorro who is an actual Earth Angel and has helped me through some of the rougher patches of dealing with my skin with so much care - seeing her is like seeing a dear friend. I really have felt like she’s walked alongside me and my skin is so much better because of her - and my relationship with my skin is much healthier too. I started seeing Hanna about a year ago to prep my skin for my wedding (and beyond), and get some help figuring out a better skin-care routine I could actually stick with. Hanna is gentle, calming, and so sweet! My skin was just “meh” before I started seeing Hanna, but now it’s glowing, blemish-free, with less fine fines, and I have a simple but curated routine with products that work for me. On my wedding day, my makeup artist said my skin was amazing 🤩 Hanna also does an amazing job shaping and tinting eyebrows. Thank you, Hanna!

I’ve been seeing Sam for a few months now to address acne, hyperpigmentation. So far, I’ve done facials and just started microneedling. Sam has been amazing and so kind! Going to someone to manage skin issues is a vulnerable thing. Sam has made me feel comfortable and taken care of from the start. I can’t recommend her enough! My skin is the best it’s ever been because of her.

Just had my first facial here yesterday with Devorro and it was amazing! I have super sensitive skin with dry, red patches and adult acne so I always get nervous to have someone treat it in case it acts up. Devorro was really sweet and welcoming and helped my skin calm down some. The facial was really relaxing and the massage helped release some tension I carry between my eyebrows. My skin is glowing today and feels a lot less congested. She suggested a few products for me afterwards but wasn’t pushy at all. Thanks again!

Sometimes you need to pamper yourself and Spruce is a perfect place to do just that. I had their signature holistic facial. It was an hour+ of relaxation and skin pampering. The skin products used were gentle and hydrating and smelled delicious. The facial, neck and scalp massage was a perfect way to relax and decompress. I will absolutely come back to spoil myself again. So friendly, great products and relaxing. Lovely place.

Spruce is a West Seattle gem! I’ve been a customer for a few years, and every skin care product I’ve purchased has become a favorite and/or a staple. I’ve also purchased gifts from here, and they’ve all been a hit! The BEST part about Spruce are the services. The treatment area exceeds every expectation for cleanliness and comfort, and the services are personalized to individual needs. Devorro is a master at her craft, and an absolute angel; her facials leave my skin feeling so restored and calm (my sensitive skin loves the essential oil free line from Marie Veronique, and I get the Marie Veronique facial). The products she has recommended (with care, never any pressure) have made me excited about treating myself to a skin care routine (I’ve never been so consistent before— loving all of the products has hooked me!) Whether for a one time pick-me-up, or for regular care, I can’t recommend enough a session with the lovely Devorro— you’ll be in for a fantastic treat!

Great little gem of a shop in WS with a warm group of people to chat with & help you. I’ve been seeing Sam regularly for facials for the past six months. I’ve struggled with breakouts, large & clogged pores, and an overall dull uneven skin tone for years, and heard from another industry professional that Sam was the one who could help. Between my regular facials with Sam, a new soothing & simple holistic skincare regimen and supplements all suggested by her, my skin is starting to clear up and heal. My skin looks and feels better than it has in a very long time, which in turn makes me feel more content and confident. Sam is really knowledgeable and if you give her time and consistency, you’ll see results.

I am OBSESSED with Spruce and with Sam! I started seeing Sam over a year ago for facials to help prep my skin for my wedding day. Since then I've gotten MANY facials from her; plus lash lifts, brow waxes and brow tints (henna). She always does an incredible job -- in fact, when I was getting regular facials, I received SO many compliments on my skin! I thought it was only me noticing the difference, but apparently people noticed too. She is amazing at what she does and I've loved every single service and every single product recommendation she's ever given me. Basically what I am saying is SPRUCE APOTHOCARY AND SAM 4EVER.

I feel so lucky to live in west seattle and have spruce so accessible to me. I’ve been seeing Sam for facials, lash lift and brow henna for a year now. I cannot say enough good things about her. Sam completely transformed my historically acne prone skin into juicy glowing skin - I am constantly getting compliments. I’ve seen a lot of derms and estheticians in my day and none of them have been able to figure my skin out with such precision and kindness. She is a household name around my house because I never stop telling my boyfriend about the things she teaches me and how much I love her. Sam is also a brow magician. I have a pretty large scar in my eyebrow and with henna and a reshape you would never know. I didn’t know it was possible to have brows like this now. I love them and i’m never going back to non-henna. I really never stop recommending Spruce and all of Sam’s services. My friends come into town and their getting a facial before they leave - I pay my dog sitter in facials. She is the best, go see her - you’ll feel healthy and alive.

I’ve gone to see Sam for my microneedling, I always leave feeling hydrated & refreshed. Both of my microneedling sessions were super gently & I had virtually no redness the day after (lucky me). Sam at Spruce Apothecary has transformed my skin!! Prior to going to Spruce I struggled with acne and textured skin. I see Sam monthly for facials and I owe the transformation entirely to her. She was also able to help pick out the best skincare products for me. I use them morning and night and have seen a dramatic difference. While her facials are my favorite I have gone to her for her eyebrow and eyelash services as well. She does a killer eyelash tint and lift. Additionally, my eyebrows have never looked better.
