Wyatt saved my hair! I came in to Spunk for the very first time with a challenge case - overprocessed, bleach-damaged, grown-out wavy hair that had been through several bad haircuts. I happened to be visiting SF and decided to see if I could find a better place than my hometown has to offer and I’m SO glad I did! Wyatt was kind enough to squeeze me in rather last minute and absolutely worked a miracle on my hair and got it back into shape. Not everyone can manage wavy/curly hair properly and they totally dominated my hair into behaving! :) I will definitely be back on my next trip! Thank you!!!

This was a first...The haircut and coloring were the BEST ever. I am very particular about my hair and usually, I leave a Salon feeling like I won't know the outcome until I get home. This time. I loved everything about it. I left feeling like it made me look younger and better looking than ever before. Hats off to Anthony (no pun intended) for his expertise, experience and knowledge of cutting and coloring hair. I have never felt better .

There’s something about knowing that people are noticing you in a good way. The smiles, the head nods – the out loud compliments from random people as you walk down the street. Such was my afternoon (and still today) after my visit to Spunk Salon. From the warm greeting when I entered (from the proprietor Suzie), to the affirming consult/complete hair makeover (from Anthony) - and the easy banter between everyone in the salon (including customers and friends of customers) – I felt seen and heard in every way possible. Being trans, I’m never sure what sort of reception I’ll receive. Spunk is the sort of place that feels like home for someone like me – and based on the clientele, Suzie & Anthony know how to make everyone and anyone feel welcome. Oh – and all those compliments? Not only did my hair look fantastic, but I radiated … Completely… From the inside out… And that’s what a visit to Spunk is like – a real good therapy session! (Lol!)

Lisette is a phenomenal, inclusive, and talented hair stylist and color expert. I've been going to her since 2018 and each cut, styling, and color I've experienced with her has been transformative, affirming, and fun. She's really good at listening to your feedback as well as exchanging ideas for where you can take your hair. I've learned so much about my hair through her care and see so many possibilities for where I can take my hair journey with her. I highly recommend you check out Lisette for your hair cut and/or hair coloring. She's the one.

I had an okay experience here in November 2022. The person who cut my hair was attentive and friendly but I wasn't the biggest fan of how it turned out. On top of that, I am biracial and have textured hair and they had used the phrase "poofy" about my hair, which is microaggressive language. I had seen their work on textured hair previously and thought it would be a good experience but unfortunately it was kind of alienating. Great space for LGBTQIA+ people to get their hair done but I'm not sure about how the space is for other POCs with textured hair.

I am following Lisette wherever they go. Lisette has been my stylist for the last 2 years. They are such an amazing hair stylist and every time I get my hair cut or colored by Lisette I leave feeling incredibly good about myself and how I look. It is also very difficult to find hair stylists who know how to cut and deal with curly hair, but Lisette is so talented and takes such great care of their clients. They make sure to listen to you, give you ideas and overall just make sure you have an amazing experience! Aside from being a great stylist, they are also so kind and welcoming <3

I got my hair cut there by Lisette and she did and incredible job. I hadn’t cut my hair in two years, I have curly hair and she deep conditioned it and gave me the cutest curly bangs. I’m definitely going back there to see her!

I have been commuting over an hour to see Lisette and I can assure you that it is worth driving over that Bay Bridge. Spunk Salon, is easy to locate and at a wonderful location in the Castro. When you enter you don’t feel overwhelmed the space is very welcoming and the light that comes through the windows complement and brighten it up. Now back to Lisette, she always has a genuine smile on her face and welcomes you. Once I sit in that chair I have no hesitation to ask her what she thinks will suit me when I don’t even know where to start. I love the way Lisette livens up my hair by cutting and shaping my bangs, they can be shorter than what I am used to and I look good! I must also point out the biggest ego boost is getting compliments on your hair from people younger than you.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars for Lisette! She has been my stylist for the last two years, and followed to her new location at Spunk. The salon is super cute and gives a warm and cozy vibe. Lisette has given me the confidence to try creative colors, and really bring my hair back to life! Lisette is very respectful, provides a safe and calming space, and is genuine with the experience she provides. Ty Lisette for being awesome!

My hair stylist Lisette recently started working out of Spunk and I've found it to be a very warm and welcoming environment. I've been going to Lisette for about two years and am so grateful to have found her. In the past it's been extremely challenging for me to find a hair stylist that understands how to cut my hair (thick, East Asian) and is supportive of my gender presentation (MoC). I found both in Lisette. It is reassuring to know she has my back on every step of my hair journey. She is extremely approachable and accessible, and booking an appointment is always a breeze. It means so much to me to have found a stylist and salon where I feel safe and fully supported!

I had an awesome experience with Lizz here. I am recovering from Bell's Palsy and booked a transformational cut with her to help hide the side of my face with paralysis. Lizz did a wonderful job of listening to me and taking the time to build out a haircut that did the trick and suited me well. It has really helped with my social anxiety around my face problem. Had a great experience with Betty back in January 2020 for a cut and color. She tried a less harsh, bleach-free process for my highlights first to protect my hair, and when that didn’t come out as light as expected she kindly offered to do the whole thing over then and there. Now after all this corona isolation I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s the first time in many years my hair is actually growing back nicely enough that I’m not dying for a new cut ASAP! Too bad I’m in Denmark but will definitely want to come see her again next time I’m in town! Thanks Betty!

I have been getting my hair done here for years. Anee used to do it, but she's not there anymore, so I started going to Ben and he's amazing! I get my hair colored and I love the products they use. I have very sensitive skin, and coloring at some other salons has caused bad skin rashes. But not at Spunk! I've never had a bad reaction to any of their products.

What an amazing experience. Ben, my stylist, has magical fingers. I swear this is the best haircut I've ever had. I would highly recommend Benjamin. He's super receptive to all my needs and left me with a big smile from ear to ear. Five stars!!!

Blonde hair is a VERY specialised process! Suzie and the team made sure I get my roots sorted! They use top quality products too, no garbage to cut costs like some salons do. This salon can be trusted for alternative colorings, I love having platinum hair and having pastels thru it, as so many salons are obsessed with fashion rather than giving you what you want as an individual! I don’t care what the fashion is, I like unicorn hair! I also have a salon phobia from past poor experiences, so I am glad I found Spunk Salon, they are trustworthy! They are also totally friendly and inclusive of everybody! No stuck up posh fashion salon bs!

Spunk is a really great salon in the best neighborhood in the city. I've gotten many haircuts there from different stylists and I always leave happy! Added bonus is the cool art, great products and people watching while you get a snip! If you're looking for a new style, this is the place.
