I've been coming to Steel + Lacquer for years, but Chrystal is the stylist that has kept me coming back! Chrystal always puts so much care and consideration into each cut. I know I can trust her with big hair transformations (of which I have had many). I always appreciate my pre-cut conversations with her about what to expect with certain styles and how to create a look that is custom to me. As a hair styling minimalist, I am grateful that Chrystal takes the time to explain easily attainable ways to make my cut look like I always came straight from the salon. If you go to Steel + Lacquer, definitely book with Chrystal!

I love Steel and Lacuqer and specifically my stylist, Cruz! The ambiance of the salon always makes me excited to get something new done and Cruz always knows just what I’m wanting. She’s always fun to catch up with, she’s constantly checking in to make sure I’m getting what I want done, and she’s always recommending me new products to help with my hair. I will never leave her!!

My girlfriend just received a haircut and the stylist did not listen to a single request from how she wanted her hair cut. She explicitly stated to not cut her bangs, but the stylist did so anyway. She even showed her pictures of what she wanted, and again the stylist did not listen to my girlfriend's wants. Her hair is too short and not what she wanted. Overall, she is disappointed and extremely hurt by the stylist. She was also expected and paid for the haircut, which is absolutely absurd. Why is it right to pay for a service when the stylist did not listen to a single request? Please be extremely mindful and considerate when going here.

I am so happy I found this place and Micheal! Everyone is always nice and welcoming from the moment you walk in. Micheal takes the time to understand what you are asking for, he is knowledgeable, friendly and I’m always so happy with my hair when I leave.

Where do I even begin! I've been coming to see Jarrod at Steel & Lacquer since 2018. Jarrod has transformed my hair and it's never been better! I came to Jarrod for the first time with very color damaged hair, and was struggling to get it back to my true color. And from that moment my hair began it's journey of growth and health (and I absolutely love it). I’ve had haircuts, partial highlights, highlights, color, bang trims, and blowouts, and I trust Jarrod with everything! With that trust I've seen a huge positive change in my hair. I've learned about the products, tools, and techniques to keep my hair healthy and strong. On top of being incredibly knowledgeable, Jarrod is so kind, hilarious, and a great leader. I've had the pleasure of getting to know many other on his team, and one thing I mega appreciate about Steel & Lacquer is that no matter who you see, it is a consistent experience every time. I've always been someone who loves going to the salon, and each time I'm here it feels like "home." I'm so grateful to Jarrod and the team at Steel & Lacquer, and look forward to continuing my hair journey!

I recently visited Steel + Lacquer for a haircut and had an outstanding experience, thanks to Zena. From the moment I sat down, Zena took the first 15 minutes to understand exactly what I wanted and what would look best on my hair. She thoughtfully explained various options and how each would complement my style. After we decided on the perfect look, Zena washed my hair and applied several post-wash products, taking the time to explain the purpose and benefits of each one. This was incredibly insightful and added a lot of value to my visit. Throughout the haircut, Zena was meticulous and mindful of the length we had agreed upon. She guided me through every stage of the process, ensuring I was comfortable and happy with each step. By the end of my appointment, I was absolutely thrilled with my haircut. I left the salon feeling confident and refreshed. A huge thanks to Zena for her professionalism and expertise. Steel + Lacquer has definitely gained a loyal customer!

Amazing haircut and style by Lauren! Her hands are magic. She took ample amount of time to understand my needs (and fears) of getting my long hair cut. She was able to see me on short notice and was patient and went back in a few times after the actual haircut to accommodate my requests. Didn’t try to push any services or products and was genuinely fun to talk to! I’ve found my new hair stylist and I know im in great hands! Thanks to Crystal at the front desk :)

I had a fantastic experience getting a haircut over the weekend with Lyndon. It was my first time at the salon and my first cut with Lyndon and they both exceeded my expectations. The salon felt very warm and friendly. Lyndon took his time and was nothing but professional. We chatted back and forth via text before my appointment so he could get an idea of where my hair was at and what I wanted to achieve. I have never had such a thorough consultation before. I look forward to returning to the salon for many cuts to come!

I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored here for years and tried many of the stylists, every one an absolute gem, I switch up lengths and experiment, walking away satisfied looking fresh with a new style I adore every time! Highly recommend boosting the cut with a toner or conditioning treatment, and pampering your hands at the manicure station. The cut and color featured was styled by Jarrod. Five stars all around!

About a month ago, I got the best haircut I've ever had here. Amber is a skilled stylist with small, accurate snips and a great eye for details. Thank you for the experience. I'm going back even tho the pricing is way out of my league. The price of beauty is always worth it.

Front desk personal is really nice and polite. However, it’s hard to consider it as a priority when you’re looking for salon services - and the thing gets really bad from there. It was my first time, I booked a haircut with a high level professional (educator according to the website) and I took the occasion to inquiry about the benefits of a keratin treatment. “You’re a good candidate for it”, my hairstylist said. They help me to book another appointment 4 days later specifically for a keratin treatment. After it, we go to the shelves and they show me the products I should buy for my hair (more than $100!). I’m back four days later to have my keratin treatment and guess what? The professional who did it said I shouldn’t use the products the first professional recommended (bye bye $$$$) if I would like my keratin treatment lasting for more than one month. Who is right? Who is wrong? I will probably never know since the salon doesn’t care to clarify it. The same evaluation I’m publishing here I sent them in a private message and never got a response. Unless you’re a beauty-savvy, I don’t recommend this salon. Btw, haircut was ok and keratin treatment was partially made by a junior assistant. Very junior. The assistant and the professional burned my ears and my scalp more than once and I was practically coerced to leave a defined amount of gratuity.

I dislike getting my hair cut very much. I have never had a hair cut that I like and I have always had the experience where I tell the stylist what I want and they either tell me my hair won’t do that or they just give me the same haircut they give everyone. I started going here to see Chrystal Cortez. She is so sweet! She listens to everything I say and gives me exactly what I want. And when I’m not so sure she helps walk me through my options. It’s always a good time and I always leave feeling seen and heard and looking great! I am treated with the most respect and Chrystal knows all of their many great products and always shares the information with me. Everyone else there seems cool too but Chrystal is my girl! Go check her out!

I got a facial with Lynett and it was a great experience . She has calming energy and her skills show in how my skin had a moisturizing shine finish to it at the end of the service ✨! Also I love that the table I was laying on had enough room for my arms to lay next to me as I was getting the facial. As a plus size girl it’s relaxing to know that the robe/ towel also fit well 🧖🏽‍♀️

I highly recommend Amber! I had a rotten experience with a previous hair salon in the Mission last year, and avoided getting my haircut while it grew out. After a year, I decided to take a chance with a neighborhood salon. I made an appoinment with Amber, and I am so grateful what she did with my hair. She was personable, professional and her shampooing alone, made me relax tremdously. Best of all, my haircut looks and feels fantastic! Thank you Amber!

I’ve been going to S&L for over two years and honestly their team and services have exceeded my expectations. Lynette has been a true gem of a waxing pro, keeping me cleaned up and looking my best. Lynett an amazing aesthetician. I go to her for both waxing and facials. She takes extreme care in her work and is very skilled. My skin has never looked better and my wax experiences have never been less painless! Beyond that, Lynett is extremely personable and professional. Highly recommend!

Masterful hair stylists work here. Oh my gosh. I felt seen, heard, understood and valued — not to mention I got the perfect hair cut!! Zena was sensitive to my needs (especially considering my history of bad hair cuts) and she absolutely nailed it. I love how she checked in with me all throughout the process and really made sure I got exactly what I wanted. She even recommended some products and techniques for caring for my hair at home. I left there feeling like a queen. Highly recommend! Thank you!!

Michael gave me (guy) a great haircut. Before any cutting happened, we went over what I do with my hair, what I wanted, and that sort of stuff. I don’t think I communicated what I wanted that well, and I still got the best haircut I have ever had. Would highly recommend this salon, as my partner also went here and loved her haircut.

On Friday, I had my haircut and beard trim by Lyndon. I could not be happier with the results. He took the time to understand what I was looking for, and I never felt rushed during the appointment. The salon was extremely clean and professional. My visit is best summed up for the word pampered. I tend to do a lot for others and rarely take time to take care of myself. I am excited to have found my new barber! I have included a pic of me before and after. My smile is real, I was that happy with the service provided. Great job!

This salon was way better than I imagined. First off I asked if Jarrod was willing to wear a mask since my elderly mom lives with me so need to be careful. He was totally willing to accommodate. Jarrod took the time to really listen to me and discuss the options. When he washed my hair he spent the time and did a great job. My hair came out wonderful. Jarrod really knows how to cut curly hair. The whole experience was great. The icing on the cake was Jarrod's sweetest dog Jada! She sat on my lap the entire time and I was in heaven. The "Jada Experience" was the best. I am telling you Jada is beyond adorable.
