Coming here was was overall an uncomfortable and horrible experience. After talking with her, Sylvie stated the Fulani style I wanted wasn’t possible with my hair length (I later went to another hair braiding salon and they were able to do a everything I originally asked for amazingly) but when I was in this salon, I took her word for it and agreed with her suggestion to do box braids instead, which were 20$ less than the Fulani style I originally booked, then she said I would actually have to do French Curl braids which were 80$ more than the style I originally booked because the box braids were too big for my short hair (again, I have similar braids in the back of my head for the salon I went to after and had no problems getting them). I said I still just wanted box braids if she could do them, and she said ok, but I would need to pay an additional 50$ because she would be using the human hair I bought myself instead of the synthetic hair she had. I have never heard of an upcharge to use human hair (that I brought myself!). Keep in mind I was not getting boho braids that require more work, and I was only getting my hair braided to the short length of my natural hair, so there was less braiding to do than if I wanted them braided to the ends which is typical of box braids. Additionally, some salons will want to record the braiding process or take pictures and they usually ask before they start recording or taking pictures of you. As soon as I sat in Sylvie’s chair, my face/head was being recorded, which just added to the unprofessionalism and uncomfortably. Lastly, I was polite and used a soft tone during this whole experience, but when I said because of her surprise up charge (which was not listed on her website or in my experience typical of the industry) that I would not be paying her unethical up charge and therefore not be utilizing her services, she said I waisted her time by having her come to her salon, which, again, I found extremely unprofessional and rude. Overall I cannot recommend this salon, and advise people to book here with caution.

Professional, clean, and top of the line talent. Sylvie is incredibly talented and kind. My boho goddess braids came out even better than I expected. Definitely the best in the area. Can’t recommend more. Check out their socials and try their Tampa location, you won’t regret it!!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sterling Locs and African Braiding Salon, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the cleanliness. Not only was there no wait time, but the staff also greeted me warmly and made me feel right at home. Sylvie worked magic with my hair! The style they created lasted exactly as long as I wanted, with not a single braid falling out of place. It was painless and she does care about your hair health , I had so many compliments. The quality of their work speaks for itself, and I couldn't be happier with the results. Overall, I had an excellent experience. Sterling Locs is definitely the spot if you are looking for work quality/professionalism. Was worried about sitting for long hours , but was very surprised of how fast and neatly done my hair was . Will definitely recommend and can’t wait to go back .
