Breno at Strange Bird Salon is the only stylist in Austin who I trust to cut my short, textured hair. I get compliments on my haircut everywhere I go. I feel confident referring people to Breno because I know firsthand that he listens to the needs of his clients and provides them with flattering, modern hairstyles that get attention!

I absolutely loved my curly hair cut by Roxx! I’m weary of stylists bc my curls and thick hair require a good unique skill set. I found that in Roxx. It was my first time in this salon. When I walked in they were playing salsa, chill vibes all around - I really enjoyed my time there (in addition to my dope haircut).

I get my hair done by Breno and he is a masterfully skilled stylist! I have difficult hair, very thick, straight and coarse and he is always able to cut a cute, very modern style into it. I couldn’t be more pleased with his service. I highly recommend him.

I had the best haircut I have hands down ever received from Ruby. She began the appointment by squarely sitting across from me and asking questions that showed she was trying to get a holistic picture of my aesthetic. She took her time envisioning and her inquiries guided me to articulate what I didn't even know I wanted myself. The result was a haircut that everyone compliments me on, feels like "me", and has worn well over time (as she told me it would - there was no awkward stage as it grew out). What stands out was that the cut was so intelligent; what she did was artistic, empathetic, knowing. I've found my stylist in the Austin area, and I am so grateful for it!

Roxx is THE BEST! She’s the reason I went from using heat on my hair everyday to only wearing my natural curls. She’s a great communicator and walks you through the whole process of consult, cut, style, and products. It’s such a treat to see her and she has such an incredible ability to bring out natural texture with low maintenance and beautiful grow out. She’s truly changed the game for me!

I am OBSESSED with my new haircut thanks to Gray! She brought my hair back to life and I could not be happier with how it turned out! She did a fantastic job of listening to what it was that I wanted, offered excellent professional suggestions tailored to my hair and delivered the results I was aiming for! Just got an incredible haircut from Breno, and I can’t recommend him enough! He was patient, kind, and took the time to explain everything he was doing—plus, he made the whole experience fun with great conversation. Instead of just turning me away when I asked about color, he went the extra mile and referred me to some amazing stylists who could bring my vision to life. Honestly, I’m a little bummed my hair doesn’t grow fast enough to book with him more often because he’s just that cool.

Elise is INCREDIBLE!!! I came in with no idea what I wanted but was unhappy with my hair & they gave me exactly what I needed. They also didnt take off too much hair AT ALL because Im growing it out which I really really appreciated. If you’re looking for a stylist who can give you a gender affirming haircut you need to see them. The salon is super cute, has great products & everyone was so friendly. 10/10 recommend!

I am so happy I found Roxx at Strange Bird! I was looking for a new hair stylist and was ready to try out different people until I found the right one. Right from the first haircut I knew Roxx was a perfect fit! She knows exactly what I want from my hair even when I am unsure myself. She is great at what she does and I always love my hair for months after an appointment with her. Strange Bird is an incredibly welcoming salon and I look forward to every trip there.

My appointment with Tori went perfectly! She did an amazing job with my hair after I gave some descriptions and showed a reference picture. She perfectly created a style that matched the vibe I wanted and flatters my head shape. I felt very comfortable the whole time and had a lovely chat as well. I have never felt more comfortable or confident at a hair appointment than I did while sitting in Lo's chair. She truly listened as I went over some of my hair insecurities and helped me decide on an amazing cut that framed my face and brought out my natural texture, that I forgot I even had. Lo also gave me advice on how best to style my hair, as well as letting me know the best shapes and cutting techniques to ask for in the future, as I do not live in the Austin area. All the folx at Strange Bird were very welcoming and greeted me as soon as I entered. I cannot say enough good things about this salon and the people who work there.

Kascidy cut my hair today and I LOVE IT! My hair is wavy underneath and I’ve had a hard time finding someone who can work with my hair as it is also very fine! My hair has never been more voluminous. She’s giving Rachel Green! Kascidy took time and care to get to know my hair before beginning! Plus she is such a sweetheart and down to earth giving me pointers to her fave places in ATX because I’m a newbie!

Kascidy is an incredibly talented and creative person and stylist with an incredible style and warm personality. Immediately upon sitting in her chair I felt so seen and heard. It really was a dream come true to be in her chair, I had been following her and strange bird for a while and was elated to find out she was offering model cuts to practice her fades. I jumped on the opportunity immediately and needless to say it was one of the best hair decisions I’ve ever made. That was a few months ago… and till this day I look at myself in the mirror and beam with so much joy and gratitude for her craft. Longevity is very apparent and I’m living for the lived in curls that I’m seeing. Thanks Kascidy strange bird. So much love <3

Ruby is amazing. After another salon botched my curly haircut, I was really nervous to let someone else try to fix it. Ruby was so kind and personable and truly listened to my needs (and fears!). They made me feel at ease from the moment I got into their chair, and I am so happy with the cut they gave me. I can't wait to see how my hair grows, and it's all thanks to them! Everyone needs to run and not walk to this salon!

Sam has given me the best haircuts of my life and I always get a million compliments. It took a lot for me to spend this kind of money the first time but after getting my hair cut by her it was the easiest decision in the world to do it again. She is sweet, funny, and charming and it’s very easy to express your needs to her. She really listens, she’s not the kind of hairdresser that will take length off that you didn’t want her to. Elise is a phenomenal hairstylist. She gave me an Italian bob style cut this morning. I am so happy with it! She is very warm and has a positive energy aura about her. She provided me with some hot early grey tea as she listened intensely to my ideas regarding the cut. I felt heard and seen. I will be back again for sure.

If you’ve been thinking about booking with Graysan, do it! I’m super picky about my hair, and she nailed it. She was able to bring out the natural waves that I’ve been wanting to bring out for so long! It was such a fun experience being in her chair and watching her work her magic. The shop was such a cozy, welcoming space—it was the perfect escape from the cold, winter day. I also loved the sense of community, with all the stylists hyping each other up and creating an inclusive, positive space. Kascidy is *amazing*. She is highly skilled, her style is impeccable, and her personality is awesome. I simply adore coming in and trust her 100% with my hair. I’m 32 and she’s given me the best hairstyle of my LIFE! I thought my hair was completely straight and flat, but she has given it so much body with a very tasteful shag. She’s been very helpful as far as product and styling recommendations too. Cannot recommend her and Strange Bird enough!

I searched for years for someone to help my daughter understand and manage the crazy curls she was blessed with. We met Gray and she was amazing with not only giving my daughter an incredible haircut but also helping her embrace her curls. She was so helpful sharing tips and product recommendations and so patient throughout the process. Every cut gets better and my daughter now loves her curls so much she rarely straightens it. Everyone is friendly, the salon feels very inclusive, the products smell terrific, and the flat rate fee makes it easy to budget for. Roxxand is terrific at her craft. I first went here seeking a welcoming environment, also a safe space as there are some cultural practices around my hair so I’ve never had more than one stylist majority of life. My first visit with Samm Jones was amazing! She was so informative, fun, and respectful of my request at my appointment which includes a consult. My second appointment I chopped my hair off into a longer pixie and if you know, you know, pixies are a hard style to cut and Samm did a thorough consult and worked her wizard skills on my hair and it’s stunning. I was so scared to go short, but with a cut like this, it was the best choice! She also discussed how to style and she’s just a lovely human. I love this salon and can’t recommend Samm enough, she’s a hair magician!

Start with this: best haircut I’ve had in Austin. (Tori also goes by Victoria) It’s also nice to not be breathing in chemicals for once. I misread the site and thought I was booked with the wrong person and overcharged. Was sort of miffed, left a review, then the owner called and was so nice and explained everything, plus gave me a refund on some services that I didn’t need to be charged for, and she went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable that things were good. The nicest people I have ever met and they really didn’t have to be. ❤️

Tori is AMAZING and is now my go-to hair stylist in Austin! She has given me great advice on how to style and wear my hair, which has been so helpful because it is on the thinner side. Also, I got bangs for the first time with her last year, and she executed the vision PERFECTLY! You should definitely go visit her, she's so good at what she does.
