Jacob is great for a curl cut. I’m glad I found someone who listens and does a consult every time. Even for an express cut he asked me how I liked the last cut and asked if I’m comfortable cutting length again.

Kristy the salon owner is a curl expert and I’ve been going to her for years. I will never go to anyone else. She gives me such amazing haircuts and her brand new salon is absolutely gorgeous and I will never go anywhere else! It’s worth every penny. I have high porosity soft curly hair. I don’t dye my hair and I use a deva blow dryer or air dryer and inner sense products. The staff was so kind to me and made me feel so welcome which is so important to me. Asked if I wanted a latte with extra cinnamon. It was so luxury. It made me feel great! I’m so proud of everything Kristy and this salon has accomplished and we are so lucky to have this place for our curly hair!

Mary is AMAZING. I booked a facial with no extractions and my God I can't wait until I go back. Truly the most relaxing experience I've ever had. She is very knowledgeable about the products she uses and also assesses any concerns or sensitivities prior. My skin looked like a sexy glazed donut when we were done. Can't wait for my next appointment.

Went in for my first curly cut ever. Found through Deva Curl’s website. I booked less than 12 hours ahead of time and was able to get in with Toni. The salon is absolutely gorgeous. All the equipment is chic and top of the line. My hair was long but had a lot of dead ends and such. Toni made me so comfortable from the beginning and just asked me “why do you like your hair?” as she saw I was frustrated and insecure with the state it was in. She asked about my routine and everything. I told her cut off what needs to be cut off and she explained and showed me while she didn’t cut off more than 1.25 inches of length, it was weighing my hair down so much that when it was washed and dried after (which she walked me through every single step custom to my routine/preferences) my coils were back and springing at my shoulder level! She truly cared and walked me through everything, didn’t force products on me (even though I purchased some anyhow), and helped me love my curly hair again! 10000% recommend. ALSO bonus points for the amazing Latino playlist going the entire time. Truly a vibe!!!

I made an appointment with Gina because I found her online and had been admiring her work for the past few months. The haircut she gave me was just magical, the time she took, helping me understand my curls and really caring about the end result was something I’ve never experienced before. I will definitely be back! I’m sure the whole team is amazing but Gina was something magical.

Jacob cut and styled my curly hair. I came here because they have people who specialize in curly hair and my last stylist gave me a horrific cut. He took his time. Was kind and patient. Explained everything before doing it. Was conversational but not overwhelming with talking too much. Did an EXCELLENT job on my hair. He also gave me tips for styling my hair that im sure will be very helpful. Apparently they are moving locations after today, and moving further away from where I live. Doesn't matter tho. I will be following. Highly recommend this salon if you have curly hair. It is pricey but they are pros and will not let you down.

I am very thankful for Jacob not only for teaching me so much about how to manage my hair but also for how patient he was when I was coming all the way from the burbs and getting stuck in traffic. Not to mention, he stayed after everyone else left to do some recutting touch-ups on my curly haircut from a week earlier. He is professional and graceful despite any snarky comment that comes his way. Truly a man that knows his art and is kind enough to help others with it. Even now with my hair straightened, I am getting compliments on it! Thank you so much Jacob!! :)

I cannot stress how happy I am with Jacob's haircut! As someone with curly hair, I am always nervous/wary about visiting a new stylist because of past experiences. I typically walked out of previous salons feeling unsatisfied with my haircuts because I never knew what to ask for, so I always got the same basic haircut. Jacob took his time to figure out what I was looking for with this haircut and offered suggestions/guidance on what would look best. I genuinely cannot remember the last time I loved a haircut as much as this one. Thank you, Jacob!!!!

I had a great experience with Jacob, especially since this was my first curly cut. I was a little anxious, but he calmed my nerves and explained what we could do for my hair. His knowledge of curls was evident, and he thoroughly explained how to better manage and style my curls. He took his time with me even though I was the last appointment of the day. It was an amazing experience through and through.

I'm so disappointed in my experience at this salon. Initially got my hair done by one stylist (see first picture) and the color was SPLOTCHY and gross. I paid $250 for splotchy color that looks like a child applied it. Then I had to go back in and see another stylist who happens to be the manager of the salon who gave me the color that you see in the second photo. I asked for something "low maintenance" that could grow out gracefully and ended up with bleach blonde ends that show by dark roots - nothing low maintenance about this. I hate my hair so much I wish I had never stepped foot in this salon. I'm heartbroken and my hair looks disgusting. Please heed my warning and do not go here, unless you want splotches and gross overly bleached hair.

It was our first time there for my wife and she loved it! Jacob was the stylist and he's phenomenal with his skill on curly hair and he proved it well! My wife was glad she found this place as it's the first time any stylist has brought out the best in her hair. While it's expensive, it's totally worth it. Great curly haircut! First timer over here, learned so much about the best and correct ways to wash and style my girls. Gina was great- helpful and kind. The spa is adorable and relaxing! Plan for about 90 minutes if you are getting a curly cut.

I am a relatively new resident in Chicago and I’ve only been fully natural for 2 years, so I was very hesitant to let anyone touch my hair. I spent months researching salons, trying to find a stylist who specialized in my hair texture, when I was scrolling in Instagram and stumbled upon Studio Within! I’m so incredibly happy with my results and with the services that were provided. I booked the 1st Time Custom Curl Cut with Kristy , which included a custom curly cut, wash, condition, detox treatment, and styling. I absolutely love my hair! The shape is fantastic and it feels super thick and healthy. My ultimate goal is to grow my hair out, so I’m really excited to see how the shape will progress. I also really appreciated the atmosphere inside the salon ! The overall ambiance was really comforting and relaxing: conversation between Kristy and I flowed really easily. I feel like Kristy took such good care of my hair and really educated me in areas where I was confused and/or lacking information. She described each step of her process while she was completing it and clued me into which products she was using. At the end of my appointment, she gave me a pamphlet with all the products she used, provided me with directions on how to use them, and even explained why my old products weren’t working and why the new products were better. I’m currently using Innersense products per her recommendation and my hair is absolutely loving it ! My curls are so hydrated, defined and shiny. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this service, especially to those who have been struggling to find a curl specialist.

I love Kristy and Jacob. Kristy is the curly queen and the only one I trust to cut my curls. She has introduced me to some of the best product to keep my hair amazing between visits. Jacob is the best at giving me just the right color for my hair. Dynamic duo! The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. If you have curly hair, this is the place for you!

Kristy was fantastic! I have wavy/curly hair, and I left the appointment feeling as though my hair was cut properly for the first time in my life. Kristy is very personable and knowledgeable. Highly recommend for any curly/wavies out there who have gone through frustrating haircuts elsewhere!

New to Chicago and was happy to discover that there is a salon for us curly gals. I want to learn how to better care for my curls, and Kyra was the perfect stylist for that. I could see that it was important to her that I was happy with my cut and style and she showed it! She spoke in-depth with me about curl care, explained several products, answered tons of questions, and was genuinely happy to talk all things hair. I had pretty long hair and she gave me a shoulder length cut with curly bangs, it is a fun style and she asked good questions to help me get to where we ended up. I will be going back as her client the next time I get a cut, and am grateful af that she was so patient and awesome! Thanks Kyra :)

Look I know that curly cuts and products can get expensive. But, I have found value in having a stylist look at and cut my hair. I tried to do it on my own but I have a “challenging” section of hair that I need help with. Kristy is great! She even answered my email after my appointment. We have a 30 day plan and hopefully I can get these curls together!

Really enjoyed my first curly haircut (Rëzo). Jade, the stylist, walked me through the process after listening to what I wanted out of my cut and explained the styling process too! I had a bunch of questions since I wanted to learn more about how to take care of my curls and she answered all of them.
