I have wavy/curly hair. I’ve had my hair cut by Robert about four times. There have been two times where it was okay, but not what I asked for. My last haircut was one of the worst I’ve ever paid money for. Robert is very friendly and it’s honestly what kept me going back, but I won’t be able to convince myself in the future. I gave my hair a few days to settle before writing this review, and I seriously can’t even understand what he was attempting to do to my hair vs what I asked for. More detail: I asked Robert for a trim as I have a wedding to go to this weekend. My hair was pretty long and had spiral curls, but the length was getting a little too long and weighing down my curls and making them a little flatter than I like. I’m normally able to keep my hair curly, think Kit Harrington as Jon Snow. I showed him pictures of my hair in the past, pictures of celebrities that had the length I was looking for, and explained I had an event coming up soon and just wanted to get my length under control. Bro gave me a straight up mullet. He basically ruined my hair for the foreseeable future, and it’s going to take a long time to get back to how it was. I can’t even put it up in a ponytail to hide it because the layers he gave me are so funky 😂. He asked me if I wanted to keep my facial hair and sideburns, which I did, as I like to shape those myself after a haircut, and he obliterated my sideburns anyway. Very little blend or fade; it kind of looks like I just have a mullet wig plopped on my head lmfao. The bright side: at least it’s not the worst time in history to have a mullet. I can play it off as something I did on purpose for the most part, especially as my sideburns grow back. It’s not the worst haircut I’ve had in terms of looks—but it is the worst in terms of how drastic it was and how it was basically forced on me without my consent. TL; DR: if you have curly hair, avoid getting your hair cut by Robert. But he is very nice and I feel bad reviewing this honestly, but I really want to help others avoid going through what I had to.

​😮 wow. Came in for just a trim around the ears. Truly felt touched, moved, & inspired (actually brought me to tears in the chair). Never had anything like that in my life. Such care, efficiency, exactness, going the extra mile! I imagine that's what it's like for the movie stars getting styled. I appreciate you so much. Robert Lam, You are truly an Artisan! 🙏 When I come to Chicago, you da man!

Damaged my hair! For some 35 years I've have had my hair color treated in cities I've lived: Chicago, Miami, New York and Paris - this is the first place that has damaged it. All the years of caring for my hair - time money and effort wiped out in this one appointment! When I communicated with the"stylist" and sent a photo they said it must have been the shampoo they used -- WHAT??? When we first starting talking about what he was going to do that day, the guy observed I had fine hair before starting, so .... ???!!! I gave this "stylist" the formula my previous PROFESSIONAL stylist has been applying for 2 1/2 years -- how much easier could I have made this person's job? I paid them $60 to damage my hair! No gesture was made toward taking care of the problem, he took zero responsibility, told me to make an appointment for a deep conditioning treatment - something I could do on my own - had no time for me to come back in, said he was available the following week. I've tried communicating with the Salon manager who set me up with this place/"stylist" - she refuses to answer me. I am terribly disappointed that with all the care, time and money I give my hair, it seems the only solution to this damage is to cut it off -- and I have been patiently growing it out in a very healthy manner! COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL!

Excellent Stylist there Willie Malone whom has been cutting my hair for over 10yrs. There is nothing Willie can't do. He is professional, amazing knowledge of hair products, healthy hair, styling and cutting hair. Linda his sister who assists Willie is also excellent. I also buy some hair products from the studio that work wonders. Willie Malone is the Absolute Best Stylist!

Another post for everyone, the environment is extremely comfortable and peaceful. You can get a small snooze in if you tired. The salon has three floors. The salon is very very nicely decorated. All the stylist are very easy to talk to. It is very clean there too. I went there one time and there was a little wait. They had so many little goodies to eat. I didn't want to look greedy devouring everything. Go check them out for yourself.

I stopped in entirely on a win. After needing a haircut for several months, it was just time. I put myself in Roberts hands and he gave me the first haircut I've had in years that people have complimented. It was time for a change and he knew what to do.

Ebony is fantastic! She was able to squeeze me in on short notice because my flight back home was closing in. She welcomed me and my daughter genuinely and appropriately (offered me wine as said daughter was bouncing off the walls). She hooked me up too! Great style, great work and great atmosphere!

Prior to my first visit, I called to make an appointment and get some pricing. Upon completion of my service, I was charged $18 more than I was quoted! I called to try to reach a manager or owner but no luck. My nails looked great and Connie did an amazing job, but the salon staff or owner never got back to me or remedied the situation. I was told the person who misquoted me was let go; however, that does not fix the situation for me. The owner should have offered me a comp fill or at least a refund of $18, that way I would still be going there as a customer.
