Lena is the absolute best at what she does. I happily sat in her chair every 12 weeks for YEARS and left every appointment with the most perfect hair. She kept me as blonde as could be and the grow out between appointments didn’t bother me a bit because her work was so clean and blended that my roots always looked intentional. We switched up my haircuts many times throughout the years and she nailed every single style. Not only is she friendly, kind and knowledgeable, she is also so funny and easy to talk to which is so important when you’re with each other for hours! I always felt heard and understood during my appointments and she never failed to make me feel like myself. She quickly became a friend and she genuinely cares about her clients. Lena is a master of her craft and anyone in her chair is so lucky and should know they’re in incredible hands!

I have been a client of Shalena for over 7 years, starting when she worked in Boston. I travel to see her in Frederick to continue our hair coloring journey (red hair pic is from Nov 2024). Her hair coloring services are consistent, high quality, and always tailored to both what I want and what is possible with my natural tone. I included some of the color work we have done over the years (copper, honey, blonde pics). Additionally, while Shalena has become known for color, she does amazing haircuts as well! Truly an all-around experienced professional.

I recently had my hair colored by Lena, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! She perfectly matched the color to suit me, and it’s been so long-lasting. She truly listened to what I wanted and ensured every detail was just right. I was also so impressed by how she followed up afterward to make sure I was happy. Lena is a blonde and extension genius. She is so talented and such a rare gem in the industry! I was recommended to Lena after a stylist burned my hair and she nursed my hair back to health while creating a bright platinum or bright blonde depending on the season! She is not only an amazing hair stylist, she is an amazing person! Unfortunately, I live too far away from her now and I sincerely looked up flights to get back in her chair. I’ve had 4 stylists since Lena (in the last year) and no one can accomplish what she has. She is so talented, thoughtful, caring, and values her clients and their hair! Lena is truly a one of kind hair stylist! For years before I found Lena, I was going to other hair stylists that made my hair color look bland and never gave me what I asked for! I have been going to Lena for a few years to get my hair done. Lena’s care and attention to detail when doing your hair is unmatched! Before Lena, I didn’t branch out much from my color and style, but she gave me the confidence and reassurance to go for it- from having a darker root, or even recently going pastel pink. I appreciate Lena’s honesty in evaluating my hair to make sure I get a trim when my ends need it, or recommending a certain time between highlights to make sure my hair isn’t damaged in the process- something my previous stylist(s) did not do. She is the best! 💕

Lena is an unusual stylist because she excels in color and extensions, loves all shades and has a ton of blond repeat customers, but SHE ALSO CAN CUT! That’s so rare to find someone who can be so great at color and actually also cut well! My daughter and I are always thrilled with the results and my daughter is a very picky 18 year old. Lena has seen her through 5th grade unicorn color through blonde then brunette as her taste has evolved and it’s always perfect! She takes her time because she’s so meticulous and is a true artist.

It’s a process, and takes time to achieve the goals, but when you sit in her chair, you will be so ecstatic and pleased with each step of that process! The finish is incredible!! From color to cut, Lena is professional and is fantastic at both (which is rare to find)! I moved to Frederick in 2015, was looking for that perfect stylist to handle my long, thick, wavy hair. I was referred to a salon and landed in Lena’s chair! It was an instant connection from the start! I gave her my idea of what I liked and she told me her thoughts! We communicated and I let her roll with what she does best! Lena then moved to Boston but I continued to follow her and support her on social media just praying and hoping one day she’d move back to Frederick, MD! I hopped around from salon to salon just not satisfied with my hair results. I was getting discouraged too. I waited YEARS for my prayers to be answered! Whenever I’ve left the salon after seeing Lena I’ve always been absolutely obsessed with my highlights or balayage. If I didn’t know how to explain what I wanted, she would sit with me and we would look at hair inspiration photos until we found what I was wanting! I’m usually into what’s trending and she’s been able to deliver every time whether it’s been cut or color!
