I showed up for a 60-minute full-body massage. When I arrived, the man working there ushered me into a room without asking how long I wanted the massage to be. The massage itself was fine, except for getting burned by the hot rock. Halfway through, the person giving me the massage asked if I wanted a 75-minute or 90-minute session (which wasn't advertised on their sign). When I said 75 minutes, he agreed. However, at the end of the massage, he kept trying to convince me to do 90 minutes. After I refused, he was visibly upset. When it was time to pay with a credit card, I noticed they had different prices for cash and credit card payments. The man told me that the machine might not work, and I asked to add a $10 tip. He said no and insisted I give a $25 tip in a way that seemed intended to intimidate me. He wouldn’t return my card until I agreed to tip him $25 on top of a mediocre $75 massage. I felt pressured and uncomfortable. Thankfully, I am a larger guy, but I can't imagine if he tried to intimidate a woman into paying more for a tip. I received a great back and foot massage by the gentleman who works here, however, they have a mandatory $15 tip fee which I have never encountered in other massage places.

I’ve done here twice now and had great massages both times — I will say the ambiance isn’t amazing and the massage was very intense but if you’re looking for a no-nonsense deep tissue massage Linda has got you covered!

Linda is the best, somehow everytime I go to get a massage anywhere else I feel terrible after but with her I left the place ready to go to sleep so relaxed. She is helping me with my extremely tight back problems. I am so grateful! I would give 10 stars if I could.

This place will harass you for more tips even when you leave 20%. I used to recommend here to friends but they have taken a rude and embarrassing turn. I've been probably at least 6x and always tip 20%. This most recent time Linda complained about the 20% tip being too little and made a huge fuss. When I asked how a 20% tip is offensive, she took out a receipt of a previous customer which showed a 30 minute massage which cost $30 where they left a $20 tip. If they expect a tip of 2/3 the service price then that's just out of control. Especially when you consider that Linda used to be more detailed in her massages and the last two times it just felt like she really half assed it. Distracted, pausing in the middle of the massage, making it obvious that she was tired. A friend I had told to try this place out had a masseuse called Jim and same thing happened. They complain and harass you for leaving a 20% tip. I felt so embarrassed that I gave a bad recommendation to someone. Hey, it's a free market and if Linda and this venue really believes they're too good for anyone that doesn't tip 2/3 of the price that's their right. It may very well be that she has so many customers dying to pay her exorbitant tips and she doesn't think there will be a dip in demand but I (and you too) have many other very good options. Will be going to 302 Grand Spa and Spa Palace in future. Really distasteful. You wonder why they don't just raise their prices instead of these workers behaving like this. Sad.

I tend to get massages often for leg pain so I've been trying out places. I've been here twice and will come back. This is a tiny place attended by whom I think are the two owners. I like how it's not a place with random changing staff. I was attended by the man and it was obvious he was very knowledgeable. He really knew where and how to work to get some pretty permanent knots out. Definitely someone who studied a lot. If you are looking for a pretty place to sit around in a robe and sip tea with light touch, this is not the place! But if you want a serious massage, especially for particular pains or problems, this place is great.

Massage in the beginning hurt a lot, she was pressing on my bones. After, she started massaging my actual muscles and that felt better. She did this one move with her forearm up my back and into my neck that felt amazing. Curtain was left a bit open when I was changing so that was a bit awkward. I tipped her $12 (20%) and she laughed and said “$15!” in a joking way. I gave it to her but yeah I agree with the other reviews that it is unprofessional. Not a terrible massage but I won’t be coming back.

Got a full body massage from this place and when I tell you they worked all the kinks and knots out of every inch of my body, I mean I may not go back to another massage place. HONESTLY ( it was that good!) The masseuse’s are extremely professional and do their job to the liking of your strength. It was honestly one of the more pleasant and CLEAN places and Super friendly! Again amazing massage and I’ll be back again for sure.

Stay away. Massage therapist was sending and receiving loud voice notes during the massage. At the end when I paid, I tipped 15% and the massage therapist rudely started demanded that I tip at least 20%. I was shocked but now, based off other similar reviews, I see this is standard behavior at this place. If you come here, be prepared to be verbally harassed on your tip amount.

I’ve been coming here for a while now and the quality and greediness of the tips has gotten out of control I just got a massage and always tip at LEAST 20 % , which is $12 for a $60 cash massage. Today I decided to tip $15 and Linda shows me a massage saying “ You only tip me $12 last time , today you give me $15 . Do not come back if you tip me $12 “ …I reply “ $12 is 20 % which is more than standard tipping! What are you complaining about ? “ This is all going on while other customers are getting massages ruining their experience. I have seen several other reviews mentioning this same nonsense. The masseuse should not be harassing customers to tip MORE than 20 %! By ANY MEANS Instead of harassing customers to the tip beyond 20%, management needs to pay them more! It is incredibly distasteful as a business. DO BETTER!

I have been coming here since 2021 after my last masseuse retried. There’s Linda, a guy named Mike, and another girl whose name I forget. Mike was a bit too rough for me but Linda has the perfect balance of when to apply a lot of pressure and when to lay off. I’m a bit of a husky fellow so what might work for me might not for someone of a different body type. It’s a rough massage. Hurts a bit while they’re doing it and your sore after. The next day however it feels like you have a brand new body! I would also add there is a bit of a language barrier. I use google English to mandarin translation to better communicate with whoever is working on me on what to focus on. Isn’t technology great?

I'v had many massages in my life, and honest truth, this was by far the best one. There are no frills involved, but Linda is an expert! I came in with a horrible crick in my neck, and by the time I was done, I felt like a new person. She used the perfect amount of pressure, and every movement had a purpose. She used hot stones which was incredible. I'm planning on going once every other week now. Don't miss out on this hidden gem! Thank you Linda!!!

Linda at Sunshine Bodywork is the best masseuse I have ever encountered in 30 years of massage therapy for a herniated disc. Recently I have had issues with carpal tunnel syndrome from computer work and she has helped me tremendously! Also after having my left knee replaced Linda has helped me recover from this challenging experience. My back has healed and gotten stronger with her healing energy. She works so hard! A friendly reminder to please tip more then the customary 20% because these therapists make half of there living from tips. I always tip at least 30% and for what I get at Sunshine Bodywork that’s a bargain!!

Linda is amazing, I was there yesterday after doing a quick google search looking for a massage in the location I was in. How lucky was I to get this phenomenal massage by Linda. The pressure is very intense but she will adjust as you need. I suffer from severe chronic back pain and also have issues with my neck, shoulder, hips and knee. Linda just knew what areas to focus on and I have been getting massages for over 20 years in nyc. I was so pleased to experience new techniques on my face, hands, feet, hips and the rest of my body. They use hot stones which feels so fantastic. Linda changed my whole weekend and I will be back as soon as possible. They prefer cash and please tip as they provide so much with this service. I got an hour massage and I wish I had another 30 minutes as I needed more. As I said I will be back as soon as I am able. If you are suffering with pain like I was, please come to Sun Shine Hot Stone Bodywork. Their prices are beyond reasonable please support this amazing business.

Really enjoyed the massage, it was a deep tissue massage and not for the faint hearted but was exactly what I needed. There was some a bit of tension and/or language barrier when paying the tip, I wanted to pay 20% but what was typed into the calculator was 50% which I said no to and typed in the 20% value, there was quite a lot of back with even higher values and lack of clarity which wasn’t great - resolved in the end! Great massage but need to perhaps have the % figures written down for ease!

Unfortunately I had such a terrible experience that it was almost comical. The whole time, they were in and out of my massage room arguing with two customers over a payment. They left the curtain open the entire time as the customers walked back and forth, yelling at each other. Throughout the entire massage there were loud noises and banter. They told me "10 minute free,” to make up for the noise, then they charged me for an hour, after I asked for 45minutes. Stay away!
