I've been going to Jody at Swamp Mermaid for nearly a decade and couldn't think of going anywhere else! The salon is comfortable and in a great location in Mueller where parking has always been easy. Jody is a master at hair stying and cosmetic tattooing. It's a gem of a salon!

Jody, and the entire Swamp family, are the best for beautification and conversation. I always look forward to my appointments, and know I’m going to walk out feeling confident and satisfied. I started seeing Jody years ago for cosmetic tattoo for my brows, and they’re continuously complimented. I’ve referred several friends who’ve all been thrilled with their results. After a couple of years, I started trusting Jody with my hair and have never looked back! The whole team she’s brought on is lovable, talented, and deeply care for their clients and their craft. I always feel confident recommending the Swamp Mermaids, as I know they never disappoint!

I've gotten my brows done by Jody = They're amazing, I love them, After-Care was easy; it's the best decision to make if you have lighter brows and want a more defined, permanent look. Laser Tattoo Removal by Chris = Everything was explained very thoroughly and I always knew what to expect. I'm on my 2nd treatment and hoping to see some fading by the 3rd. Haircut and Color by Alyce = She made sure I liked my color and even reached out a week or so later to see if I was still happy with the tone. That was thoughtful and appreciated!

I had an amazing transformation haircut by Rebekah this morning. I was so nervous to make such a drastic change, and now I only wish I had come in sooner. Rebekah did a phenomenal job on what I was expecting to be a grow-out start over cut. It is actually so cute as it is now & feel much more confident going into to holidays with my new cut. Highly recommend!

First time here, got a haircut with Tori. Extremely pleased with my pixie - a great mix of short hair without looking too boyish. Tori was so kind and personable and checked in with me throughout the cut...she did a great job. Also props to the friendly young lady who checked us in. She made us feel very welcome. I will definitely return!

I had the pleasure of having my hair cut and colored by Jordan this week, and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Jordan is truly talented, with a professional yet friendly approach that put me instantly at ease. The color is vibrant and exactly what I envisioned, and the cut has transformed my look beautifully! Rebekah is wonderful. I went for the first time with her and I had an amazing experience. She made me feel very comfortable and I loved my haircut. She did a better job than I could imagine. I went for a haircut a few weeks ago and I still get many compliments about my haircut. I will definitely be going back with her.

I recently had my hairdresser of 4 years move away. (which as any female who is religious about her hair you know, is a BIG deal) I had a friend recommend Swamp Mermaid and I instantly felt very welcome here. Not only is the shop super cute and in a great location the girls are sweet, attentive and really work as a team to make sure you get the best care for whatever treatment you are receiving. I had Rebekah color and cut my hair and I was sooo happy with the process (fast) and the outcome (beautiful and natural and just what I wanted). She recommended treatments that would be helpful for my type of hair and wasn't trying to sell me a bunch of products. She was just genuine and thorough and overall has what I look for when testing out a new salon. Needless to say I will be a returning client here!

I recently had the pleasure of getting a blonde transformation done by Alyce, and I can’t recommend her enough! I never really know exactly what I want when getting my hair done, but Alyce was amazing at taking my vague "I want to be blonde" and giving me the hair of dreams- I've since been described as a "glowing blonde angel" thanks to her! She's also super friendly and fun to chitchat with, which is almost just as important when spending hours of foiling and processing together! The Swamp Mermaid salon is also a cute, comfortable space, everyone there seemed so friendly, just all around good vibes, a place where you don't mind hanging out for hours. Overall, 1000/10 for Alyce/Swamp Mermaid <3

I went in for an appointment with Tori for some blonding. I had used sun babe over the summer to lighten my hair. It had gotten very brassy. I worked on it myself with some toner, but still had quite a bit of orange and red undertones. I wanted it to be much lighter blonde, and had been told by others I would need to stay warm. I went in for a consultation with Tori and she was so kind and patient and we discussed a variety of options and decided on a halo highlight. She told me she was pretty confident we could go with cooler tones. I was a bit skeptical, but excited. When I went in for my appointment, I had some pictures with me and we kept talking and decided to go with something a little more edgy and did some big chunky pieces on one side in the front and darkened the rest of my hair for contrast. It turned out so bad ass! I love that she was able to be creative and explain the process to me clearly. Additionally, my time in the shop was wonderful. Everyone who works in there is so kind and welcoming! There was even an employee who had her child with her while she worked because she’s a single mom. The other employees were so patient and helpful while the mom worked with her client who was getting married the next day. As a single mom myself, I found this really touching and it made the entire shop feel very approachable. I am autistic, and going to new places for services like this can be very intimidating and difficult. I am so appreciative and grateful I found a place so close to me where I felt comfortable and welcome. I just made another appointment with Tori because I already need my roots touched up in the front! I am actually really excited to go back into the shop and I would absolutely recommend Tori to anybody who needed an update to their look.

My first time at Swamp Mermaid was so great. The whole place was a vibe, so clean, and love the decor. When I walked in, I was welcomed by my stylist Alyce, who was so kind. She listened to my concerns with my hair and asked lots of good questions to help me get the perfect haircut. I felt like Alyce paid great attention to detail when giving me my haircut. I felt like I got a luxury experience compared to when I would get my hair services at Ulta.

Rebekah is an artist and I am beyond amazed with her expertise! I just moved to Austin and the stress of finding a new hairdresser is real. On my first visit, I immediately felt comfortable and asked for her suggestions; I left absolutely loving the results! Best cut ever! I have very fine hair and I also do not spend a ton a time in the morning on my hair. I want a cut/style that takes minimal time. Becca took the time to listen to my concerns and took the time to make sure it was perfect. I am able to style it in less than 5 minutes every morning and love it. Next appointment is a cut and color and can’t wait to see what she can do!!

My review is specific to freckle tattooing. Do NOT go here. My experience was a disaster. When I first got tattooed, they were done wayyy to light and completely disappeared. The owner offered to redo them for free and I was very excited, but a bit disappointed to have to go back. After two weeks, they had barely faded. I reached out and was told they should look natural by six weeks. I’m now six weeks out and they still look like giant blackheads on my face. I used to feel fairly confident with minimal makeup. Now I don’t feel comfortable leaving the house without multiple layers of makeup to hide it. They look absolutely nothing like my inspo photo. The communication regarding the healing process during my appointment was poor. I see in reviews they do great hair, which is awesome, but I would absolutely NOT recommend them for freckle tattooing.

Rebekah gave me a phenomenal curly haircut! She is very knowledgeable about curly hair and I’ve never left a salon loving my cut as much as I did today! By far, the best haircut experience overall that I’ve ever had. Also, the other stylists were friendly and sweet. I already look forward to going back!

This is such a cute little spot in Mueller! There are so many services at this salon. This can definitely be a one stop shop for all things beauty! I came in to get my highlights done from Tori, an emerging stylist here. I was treated and felt like she has been in this industry for YEARS. Not only was she personable but she was confident. I could tell the experienced stylists here also carry a lot of knowledge. From the consultation to the application of the service, she personalized everything. I never had a stylist find the right color based on my physical look and she did just that.I would highly recommend both Tori and really any stylist here based on my visit!

I am ECSTATIC today after getting my hair done by Herma at Swamp Mermaid! I came in with a mess of a bleach/DIY dye job and she fixed me up so nice. It is honestly a blonde color I’ve been trying to get for years, both by trying myself at home and going to different salons. I have a whole “hair journey” ahead that I am excited to go on with Herma to get some fun colors done too! Not only was she fantastic at the work, she also was very upfront and honest with me throughout the whole process, giving me pricing up front, and helping me stay in budget. Very very very happy highly recommend!!

Rebekah is THE QUEEN at what she does! 👑 She asked me to trust her with my hair 2 years ago and I’m SO happy I did and still do. She listens to me and my concerns/wants about my hair & takes the time to walk me through her plan. & when I’m not sure - she is the best sounding board! Rebekah genuinely cares about her clients and their hair. She is the sweetest soul and an absolute beast when it comes to color and repairing your hair. I want to say that Krissy is AMAZING! She is super knowledgeable, knows what she’s talking about and most importantly, knows what she’s doing. She is open to feedback, she listens to you, and knows how to deliver exactly what you want and are looking for!!
