I first found Rudy after moving to Austin and I've been seeing hime for 2 years now. Haven't seen anyone else for haircuts since. He takes his time and makes sure your haircut works with your hair, he also gives styling advice that works with your hair type. Really recommend.

This is my second haircut with rudy. I am so pleased with the result. These past two haircuts have been the best haircuts that I have had for as long as I can remember period and I'm not just saying that. My haircut has lasted as if it was cut yesterday all month so I went back and got it done again. He has given me advice about caring for my hair and styling. He listens and we have great conversations. It's a great experience and the quality of the work is on point. I've had many compliments on my hair which is something I am not used to. And I like it. Thank you Rudy for being awesome at hair.

Rudy is a master at what he does. He made me feel comfortable and the space is super clean and a very relaxing environment. He knew what would look best. I trusted him and he did exactly what I imagined but always had a hard time asking for. I have medium to long hair and he knew exactly what to do. He also educated me on how to take care of my hair as well as how to style it. 10/10 experience well worth every penny. Will definitely be coming back. He has raised the bar for all barbers everywhere!

There is no one in the industry like Rudy! 10/10 best of the best to ever do it. I have been to many “ professionals “ and they just don’t do it like the man! My brother was an introvert prior to seeing Rudy, now the man has a date every night. A Picasso with the scissors, michael Angelo with the brush, the man is a modern day Davinci.

Rudy’s the best. I first came not knowing what, if anything, could be done to improve my hair & beard, but Rudy knew right away what I needed & gave me one of the best cuts I’ve ever had. Highly recommend, especially if you’re looking to do something new that will fit you.

Contacted as soon as I woke up in the morning of a 3pm appointment and wouldn’t let me reschedule. Wouldn’t even negotiate a lower cancellation fee. 85$ flushed down the toilet by Rudy. If you can plan for nothing to change in your life 24 hours in advance this is might be an okay haircut. If you need to reschedule there is 0 flexibility.

I consider myself to be an EXTREMELY picky person when it comes to hair as I work in the beauty industry. I have also tried probably every place in Austin (and many places in other cities and internationally) and I can say Rudy is hands down, THE BEST. He will take into consideration your hair type, head shape, face, etc., to really give you something that looks great on you, not just when you leave, but when you fix it yourself. Very professional all around. If you came across his barbershop you're lucky, it took me a while to finally get to him (and endured several bad haircuts from almost every barbershop in Austin, and some of the 'super fancy' salons.)

I have been getting my hair cut with Rudy for almost a year now. Rudy is a super professional, down-to-earth barber and I really enjoy getting my hair cut with him. I have really fine hair and Rudy cuts and styles it with ease. I get compliments specifically about my haircut, even two weeks after my last cut. Rudy is easy to talk to and you can just chill, or you can chat. His new shop is rad!! Very clean and open inside. A unique and beautiful aesthetic. While you are there, ask Rudy about how he came up with the name for the shop - it's a really cool story. He can also tell you about all of the cool things inside his shop - the artwork, the hair products (as well as other local products, like candles), how he built it out with his wife, all the plants - it's a really awesome vibe. All the little details (like the terra-cotta pots) come from somewhere special or have a story behind them. Make sure to explore after your visit. Tons of stuff super close for a bite or a drink.

If you're looking for a premium haircut with a barber that prioritizes quality, Rudy Baldwin is your man! Rudy has been cutting my hair for 4+ years and the attention to detail he gives to every haircut is next to none and something I've never experienced before at other barbers. If you have a vision on what type of hair style you would like, Rudy can easily accommodate, but I would also trust him to use his judgement when styling my hair. He does a nice job of assessing your face shape and style to make a recommendation on the best type of cut for you. I also had a pretty crazy, untamed "COVID" beard and Rudy did an excellent job of shaping it and giving a clean, polished look. 10/10, I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a premium, high quality haircut.

Rudy Baldwin runs a tight ship and is an artisan when it comes to cutting hair. I was lucky enough to meet him during his tenure in mueller and his new show SWAYD takes the experience of getting a haircut and takes it to another level. Expect detailed consideration and attention. Don't expect (and. in my opinion one shouldn't) to scroll through instagram or Facebook for the duration of the appointment. This is an engaging experience that is consultative, and rewarding as a result. Austin is lucky to have this guy cutting hair.

Rudy is a true professional and gentleman. His cuts are on point and good conversations are always had when I sit in his chair. When it comes to my hair and beard, I'm very particular on who I let work on it. I discovered Rudy in 2016 through a friend, and have been going to him ever since! This isn't your quick in-and-out in 20 minute haircut; he takes time and does it right. Rudy's attention to detail and perfection of his craft cause you to walk out with movie star hair. He even did my hair at the venue for my wedding to ensure it was perfect! I literally drive 2 1/2 hours every month to get my hair cut by him. For years I frequented so many of the Austin mainstays (Avenue, Floyd's, Adolph's, Bird's, etc.), but it was always the same - describing my preferred hairstyle to a random barber of the week (and the rest of the dudes in an overbooked room). It became apparent I was on the hunt for a 'professional element'. Sometime in the mid-2010s Rudy got a hold of my scalp by happenstance and well...everywhere else essentially became Great Clips. Since then I can't say I've had the need to look elsewhere. The Lloyd Christmas mutt cutts and excruciating wait times have been replaced by the precision and finesse of a true artist dedicated to the craft. Bottom line gentleman, if you were a suave operator in the style of John Wick, the only shop you'd book is SWAYD.

Hands down the best haircut experience I’ve ever had. If you’re like me and have always struggled trying to figure out the right hairstyle for your face, or how to style it, or whatever else it may be, you need to book an appointment at SWAYD. I always get nervous with hair appointments, takes me forever to book one because I’m always worried that I’ll come out looking worse. Not here though. The consultation was thorough, no detail was overlooked. We went over where I was at in my life and why I needed a change. He explained how my hair wants to act and what product to use to control it. No joke, I’ve never been happier and more confident after a haircut. The biggest thing that stuck out to me was that he liked how my hair was originally. It was longer and I was kinda self conscious about it. But he really wanted to make sure I needed the cut because to him it looked good. That made me feel great, and it’s nice to go to a stylist who doesn’t want to do things to your hair just to DO IT. It made me feel comfortable. So why are you still reading this? Book an appointment now. Don’t even think about it. You get what you pay for and you won’t regret it.

I have been seeing Rudy since late 2020. My first cut with him was after a few covid months of not having my hair properly tended to. It was in a very ugly state, and Rudy got in there and brought me back to handsomeness. I have followed him to three different salon locations over the years, the current of which is least convenient for me, but I WILL NOT see anyone else for my hair; it is a pleasure to get to our appointments together. Rudy is precise with scissors beyond what I have experienced with other stylists and always makes me feel brand new when he finishes my cut. He has guided me through hair loss (and regrowth!) and knows when to push and when to fall back and let my neurotic hair demands have their day in the sun. Rudy usually wins, but is willing to hear me out and roll his eyes as I try to explain why I am right about my hair (I'm usually not). Then he advises and uses his expertise and taste level to give me what I didn't know I needed in my cut. Rudy educates on how to style my hair, how to feel my best, how to fully harness the power of my appearance, always with a laid back sense of humor and non-judgmental stance, which is comfortable and comforting. Rudy makes clear that his goal is to make me to feel sexy and powerful and at ease with my look, and his cuts achieve all of the above, and grow out beautifully. I feel very lucky to be a Rudy client. Swayd gets 5 stars, highly recommend, worth every cent.

Rudy @Swayd is a true professional at cutting men's hair. He takes the time to understand the texture of my hair and shape of my head and face to cut my hair to fit me. There isn't a menu of 3 basic cuts that he tries to force on everyone. Because of his technique, my haircuts last longer, maintain their look, and are easier to style because it works with what my hair naturally wants to do.
