Came here on winter break about a month ago to a new hairstylist(bad idea) for a highlight touch up. Amy had done my hair the summer before and did an absolutely fantastic job. She wasn’t available the days I was, so I booked with a stylist that charged the same amount, assuming I’d get the same quality of work. I told they stylist I wanted them a tad lighter. Mind you the highlights were originally like a dark honey blonde. When I said a tad lighter, I meant honey blonde. I didn’t notice how awful they looked until I got home to regular lighting and could see my roots. My hair was literally WHITE and my roots were showing? Why would a stylist completely leave the roots out and not only that, not blend the color to at least make it look good. My roots literally looked burnt. I went to a Sally’s store and had to fix the color and blend the roots myself because when I called to schedule a redo, the snobby front desk lady told me she couldn’t get it redone that week, and NEVER called me back to schedule me in. Absolutely horrendous job and waste of 200 DOLLARS. Yes 200 dollars for this 😭😭😭 and mind u I had to part my hair to the side to TRY and not make them looked so chopped.

The stylists are amazing here, but I’ve had one too many bad experiences to recommend this salon. The second time I had an appointment here, I walked in and was told “Oh, your stylist actually went home sick a while ago.” No call, no letting me know before my appointment time. Thankfully, another stylist had an opening and took me since I had showed up. She did a great job, no complaints — but I was a little surprised at how unprofessional it was that they never contacted me to cancel or reschedule my appointment. The most recent time, I had an appointment Saturday morning. I confirmed through their text system several times (including the day before), and even moved my morning schedule around to accommodate. I walk there for my appointment, there’s simply a sign on the door that says “Closed due to building maintenance issue today.” Again, they couldn’t have called or canceled my appointment? I am shocked at how unprofessional this salon is, which is a shame because I’ve had a great experience with multiple stylists there (Grace, Lucy, and Adrianna) and hate to leave them. But I cannot go back to this salon after this, literally unbelievable.

Adriana is simply fabulous. She is such a sweetheart and you can feel how she genuinely wants and tries to make you feel good. Gentle and soft spoken and thorough, a facial with her was just what I needed after a hectic holiday work season!

I want to start this with,I have extremely curly hair, and it's very difficult getting a hair cut... But I have found the person who will cut my hair from now on. Mikey did amazing, and the salon was fantastic. I will 100% be back. Thanks Mikey!

Stephanie, as always, is phenomenal! Caring, friendly, joyful and a super hair cutter! I am so glad I went today. Way to start the holiday season. Shop is always very clean and I feel confident about the sanitation of brushes, combs, etc. Highly recommend. Hanna is also great!

First time here and had a great experience!! Hannah was AWESOME. She was so knowledgable and incredibly skilled. I went shorter than I usually do and absolutely loved it. Will definitely be coming back!!

had a great haircut with Grace—she was kind and did an excellent job. However, I brought my friend along for a haircut with Mikey, and his attitude was disappointing. He made a rude comment about my friend’s long hair, saying he didn’t expected them this long and didn’t want to ‘waste his time’ on it. It was upsetting and uncalled for. Even after realizing his mistake, he tried to twist things and didn’t apologize, so we canceled her appointment. Had a nice experience with Grace but very disappointing experience with Mikey as a first-time customer.

1000% recommended this salon! And especially working with Brooke :) I’ve had trouble being able to get my hair blonde the way I’ve wanted it; she did it perfectly! Left with the cutest blowout, too!

**Background**: I've been feeling really down these past few months. I just graduated from nursing school (as an adult, after leaving my first career), and while I got the position I wanted, the transition and workplace toxicity have really taken a toll on my mental health. Anyway, I’d been putting off getting my hair cut for so long that I started dreading the idea of a stylist even seeing it. But I finally mustered up the strength to open my laptop, do a Google search, and book an appointment—whew. I was ready for a refresh and a big style change. Unlike in my 20s, when I’d go to any random stylist who had an opening, I wanted this chop to be **good**. So, I did my research and decided it was worth spending the money on someone who really knows what they’re doing. And Laura did not disappoint. I’ll say this: my hair looks amazing. She cut it so it looks great, even when I let it air dry (she asked how I usually style my hair, which I appreciated). But honestly, what’ll keep me coming back is that she knows how to talk to people (and her stylists do too, or maybe they’re just genuinely happy working there? They kept stopping by, and they were so fun to talk to). Coming from a hospitality background, I can chat all day, but some stylists make it awkward with forced small talk, and it just becomes exhausting. It’s not hard! Ask people about themselves and be enthusiastic! Or, if they’re not feeling chatty, just let it be. I felt super comfortable, even on zero sleep with greasy hair.

Edited my review again due to the rude receptionist not even booking my actual appointment and didn't find out until I called to let them know I'd be a few minutes late. This place has got to re-train their receptionists to keep up with the neighborhood and not lose to their competition. I had to wait a week to get my daughters haircut/color before school starts only to find out it was never booked, and they couldn't fit me in to make up for it. I will never come here for any services. Edited my review for the receptionist who needs a new personality. Moved to old town and had an awful experience at solo salon in west loop price gauging with their services and constantly pushing their hair products to be sticker shocked every time I would check out.. Maddie at swerve salon was an absolute gem who didn’t criticize my hair just to push her own services and products like Noelle would at Solo. My hair looks and feels amazing without being charged $500 to cover my grays because they nickel and dime you for everything there. So happy I found Swerve and will stick with Maddie for all my hair services.
