I moved to Scottsdale almost a year ago (January 2023) for work and one of my number one priorities was finding a go-to stylist. I had already done quite a bit of research on the limited options in AZ before I relocated and ironically I happened to be running errands only a few days after arriving and I passed right by the salon. Since it had been difficult to navigate getting an appointment online, I took a chance and stopped by. Mozell immediately greeted me and I explained how I was new to the area, getting ready to start a new job in another week and in desperate need of an appointment. She squeezed me in and I haven't looked back since. I go weekly and I love how they only take one appointment at a time. I am always in and out. They value their client's time and you can't put a price on that. The salon is clean, the ladies are both professional and there's an overall good vibe along with good hair products and consistently solid results. Thank you Texture Factory!

I’ve been here 4 maybe 5 times over a 2 month time span for a silk press. Katrina burned my virgin hair with 450 degree flat iron. She cut 2 inches of hair off the back of my head and “dusted” the front, still have so many split ends . Scratched my scalp with her nails on my very first visit, hair wash was painful. My final visit she turned my chair from the mirror to face the TV. I couldn’t really see how she was styling it. What i did see is her grabbing large chunks of hair and passing it thru the flat iron. She also burned the nape of my next pretty bad. Haven’t been to a salon in 15 plus years and this was my first experience………not a good one

Texture Factory is a fabulous Natural hair salon in Scottsdale. I am new Arizona and I have yearned for a beautician who is not only passionate about styling hair, but most importantly cares about the health of my hair. I moved here 4 months ago and came in distressed about the condition on my hair. I have been on my natural haircare journey for about 5 years now but, before that I spent 85% of my lifetime wearing “so-called” protective hairstyles. From the young age of two years old, growing up with a single black mom, she did the only thing she knew to do, get her daughter’s hair braided. I am sure I am not the only young woman of color who grew up with this experience. We were taught our hair is nappy. It’s wooly. Cover it, lock it down, protect it. Protect it from what!?? I grew up not knowing how to love my hair and much more importantly how to care for it. My strands were always tide away. Shielded from inability to thrive. The thing about us women of color is that there is nothing wrong with our texture of hair. It is one of the most delicate textures the is. Especially those women of us who have 4c ‘kinky or coily’ textured strands. I am no expert in hair verbiage so I will stop there. What I do know is that the ‘black’ community especially has been indoctrinated into believing our hair isn’t beautiful. That the natural hair that grows out of our scalp is inferior. That is hard work. That it is ugly. It doesn’t grow. This is all far from the truth. We as a black community have been sold lies that we have to buy other people’s hair and place it on our own. Now how silly does that sound really? That we must add an outside extension to our natural being. Why? What is wrong with the hair that comes from our scalps! So, it is my belief that we have been propagated into hating ourselves, because you cannot truly love yourself if you are unable to strip away the excess, the outside extensions and just wear your own hair. Not only does society teach self-hate it is also pushing the black community to poverty by keeping us locked into buying expensive synthetic hair to place over our own. What we need is to be reeducated about our hair. Our ancestors, our lineage of black woman was a community. That is how woman would bond is by doing each hair, with natural products and techniques. We have lost our way. So, off my rant and to the present. Texture Factory is one of the few salons nationwide that values healthy hair over styles. I came in and I was very insecure about the condition of my hair because although I was wearing it naturally, I went through a period where I became detached, and I didn’t know what my hair needed. What my strands and scalp wanted. I went to covering with hat and fashionable scarfs. I would do the basic moisturization and then cover it back up. Somewhere along the way it started to decline. I was very anxious to get to the shop and get my hair done. I was nervous because it is embarrassing, knowing that your hair is in very poor condition. However, Katrina assured me she will restore my hair’s health. I was striped down and I didn’t have to chop it all off, however I suffer from extreme breakage. Even with the imbalance in length and condition throughout my hair she has treated and styled my hair to appear full and luxurious. From day one, Katrina has educated me about my hair and explained to me what is going on, what she sees. She informed me that is not going to be easy because I am having to unlearn a lot of bad habits from years of miseducation. She has been a great teacher and I truly appreciate her partner Mozell, at the salon for aiding me in my natural journey. She knows what hair needs and what to give it and there is a particular protocol how to maintain it. This is a salon for those who want thriving natural hair for a lifetime. Katrina is truly a magician. She takes her job serious and is passionate to teach and help fellow woman of color wear and love their natural hair. Thank you, Katrina, you are my haircare inspiration and hero.

They are the absolute best! My hair has flourished with them. They are so attentive to what your hair needs, will Educate you about what’s happening with your hair and how to correct it. Love, love, love them. Highly recommended!

Honestly I feel like i’ve found my forever Salon with texture factory. Being in Arizona and having kinky/curly hair, it’s been a challenge for me to find someone who can not only style my hair but also help it grow. I’ve been going to Mozell for a little over 2 months now and can already tell the difference in the length, texture, and moisture of my hair. If you’re someone like me who was wondering if it’s worth a shot or if they can handle your hair, book your consult!!!

I’ve been a client of this salon since moving to AZ back in 2014 and I must say, there truly is no other salon that cares for black hair the way they do. The attention to detail that your hair receives to ensure it’s in good health and remains that way is something that sets them apart from all other salons. It’s definitely worth the drive and if you’re wondering if this salon is right for you, go ahead and make the appointment! You won’t regret it!

Texture Factory is phenomenal! Mozell always does a wonderful job with my hair. Whenever I get my hair done it feels so soft and silky. Silky is the first word that my husband always says when I walk in the door and that always makes me smile. My hair continues to have bounce and curl until my next appointment and I am a sweat in my head and sleep bad type of girl. Texture Factory is my oasis in this dry desert and Mozell continues to keep my hair moisturized and flourishing. If healthy hair is what you desire...Texture Factory is where you need to be to fulfill your healthy hair goals.

I had just moved to Scottsdale (February 2023) and was looking for a place to get my hair done weekly. After some extensive research, the Texture Factory seemed like the only place that would be able to deliver the level of care and expertise I was looking for for my natural hair. It was a bit of a challenge to get on their calendar at first (yes they're very booked and take your initial visit seriously) but once I was in, the experience was everything I was hoping for and more. Mozell took the time to listen to my goals and needs. She is sweet, patient and very gentle. I see her weekly; she is helping me navigate my scalp issues and is always looking for ways to enhance my experience. I definitely recommend The Texture Factory for anyone who cares about the health of their hair and looking for a professional, clean and beautiful place!

This salon is well worth the visit. I came looking for a haircare professional, not just a stylist and found both. I left with directions on hair care-not only verbally, but a print out. They explained how to care and manage my hair. Most important to me was the explanation of triming. I wish I'd found them sooner.

I have lived in 6 different states and visited many salons….Mozell and Katrina, owners of the Texture Factory, are two of the most skilled and talented stylists I have experienced! I went to Texture Factory a couple of times and was actually pretty happy with the overall service that was provided. I have alot of hair and have always had it in protective styles but finally decided to wear my hair out and was working on getting a hair regimen going. I worked with Lorelee and everything seemed great from my end. The reason why this is not a 5 star review is because when I went to schedule my 3rd appointment I noticed that there was an “error” that wouldn’t let me book it. After calling a couple of times trying to even schedule over the phone and getting the runaround from Mozzel, I figured they’ve just decided to not have me as a client. Especially since i was able to book with another email address but not the one i originally used. As a black woman trying to fall back in love with their hair its really discouraging and i would’ve appreciated to get more education on what needed to be done to make their job is easier if it was that tedious to deal with even after charging me extra for my hair thickness. I would still recommend them though as long as your hair is perfect i guess…

It’s rare that you find a salon with not one, but two incredibly talented stylists who are masters of hair styling, hair care maintenance and most importantly, hair growth. Just check the pictures of their clients. Both Mozell and Katrina are extremely talented and dedicated to making their clients’ hair look and feel amazing. Thanks to Mozell my hair is the healthiest it’s ever been and it’s grown so fast it’s amazing. She’s provided simple hair care at home tips to help me ensure my hair remains on the right track. I enjoy her kind nature and warm and friendly conversations we have at every appointment. I consider myself lucky to be her client, and if my hair could talk I’m sure it would say the same! I will always be a loyal customer of the Texture Factory.

Mozell’s professionalism, patience and care has changed my “hair life”. I began my journey over a year ago-she taught me how to care for my “AZ” hair after years of being in the Midwest..I trusted her process and continue to stay consistent with my visits…and now enjoy a whole new healthy look…I’ve even changed my hair cabinet to Texture Factory only recommended products…trust the process, she and Katrina truly care and I am so appreciative for the time she has invested in me and my hair!! Texture Factory is phenomenal! When we moved to AZ in 2020 I was really nervous to find someone who could help me with my hair. I had been relaxer free for many years but didn’t know how to take care of it. During my first appointment I received a full consultation to include a personalized daily care regiment with product recommendations…product that they use!! Mozell told me if I trust the process, I would see results. I’ve been trusting not only the process but trusting her expertise and have seen major results. Mozell is very professional, always on time and NEVER over books. Texture Factory has a relaxing atmosphere and I don’t have to worry about all the gossip you would expect from a salon. If you are looking for a place for true healthy hair care you MUST try Mozell @ Texture Hair Factory in Scottsdale AZ, you will not be disappointed.

This is the best salon! Mozelle helped me transition from perm/natural hair to all natural and my hair has never been so healthy AND long! She cares about the health of your hair and teaches you how to take care of it at home. She’s also an excellent stylist. I can’t say enough wonderful things about her!!!!!

Very unprofessional, Mozell openly talks terribly about clients in front of others and has a nasty attitude. I don't appreciate being talked to disrespectfully. I don't know why hair stylists think they are the only ones in town and people HAVE to come to them to use their services only. Like they can talk to you any kind of way. I don't pay good money and tip well to be treated like that. There are other stylists and hair care specialists who can also do a great job without all of the unnecessary mouth and treat you like a client should. I followed her hair care instructions and saw improvements in my hair for a second but I would still have dryness and breakage and would have thin ends because her flat iron was snagging my ends so bad that . I should not have to get a trim every visit. It was like a step forward and two back. I politely asked if she could use another flat iron and her response was nasty. A simple yes or no would have sufficed. Or even more of a professional would have asked. What are your concerns and what can we do to address the issue. When I tell you that was UNCALLED for. I gladly took my dollars somewhere else and am happy I found someone who babies my hair, has gotten me back on track, and gives 5 star service and experiences without all of the unnecessary attitude and unprofessionalism. I expected more from an older woman her age. Would NOT recommend.

From my first experience at this salon, I knew this was the place for my hair. Very professional, my stylist Mozelle gives great tips and advice on how to care for my hair and products to use. The older I get the more tender headed I have become and she is so gentle with my hair. I always leave the salon with my hair looking FABULOUS!

I am so happy with my hair. They help me not only with styling but overall health of my hair. Even though desert dryness and heat can pulverize Black hair, they worked with me to beautiful hair that my girls keep saying looks like a wig. In truth, the soft texture, fullness, and shine make my hair look that good! It is a regime I can maintain, still look professional, and sexy. They helped me find me in my hairstyling and health like I’ve never had before!!! Love it! I’m so thankful my husband found you all for me and daughters, four years ago.
