Does your hair need a miracle? Has it been feeling hapless? Hopeless? Is it not only on the struggle bus, but driving it? Go to Bri Gurnett! She is hair Jesus and will turn your hair water to luscious hair wine. I went from bad dye to baddie. All bad jokes aside, my hair has NEVER looked better. She took her time, was patient, explained everything in detail, and the love she has for her work is evident by the work that was done (pictures included of before, during, and after install). Check out her insta (@hairbybrigurnett) because it speaks for itself! I actually cried because I felt so good in my new do. Shout out also to Lyndsay and Morgan for helping us strategize what to do with my hair-tastrophe. The fact that the owner took the time to come and problem solves speaks for itself. I HIGHLY recommend Thairapy. Every dollar is worth it.

From the consultation process, to the moment I sat in the chair for my first appointment with Bri, I felt completely at ease. Not only is she knowledgeable, but she genuinely listens and cares, and is invested in making you look and feel your best. She took her time, made me feel extremely comfortable, and provided me with a beautiful finished look. Just moving to the Portland area, I was nervous about finding a new hairstylist. Now I feel completely at home with Bri and the Thairapy salon! I will be coming back and could not say more about this adorable, well-kept, fun salon. 10/10 experience! Thank you!

Holy cow— what an amazing experience. It’s not like any other service I’ve had at a salon in Portland. I had a really easy time having a consult with Lyndsay, then she worked her magic and booked me immediately with Ali for color and trim. Ali *completely transformed* me from 0-100. And no pressure— I am going to live with my new color for a little bit then see if I am going to benefit from extensions or not. But for now; Ali took me from a gray, balding mess to someone who looks 10 years younger and a lot more well put together. Confidence restored; thanks gals— see you soon.

I have been going to Thairapy PDX for about a year. My stylist is Bri at the Portland location. The salon is always very clean and the receptionist very professional. Bri is an excellent stylist and has a great attitude. She always has a lot of ideas for me, but also listens to what I would like to do with my hair, unlike some stylists I have had in the past. I have had color, cut and extensions at Thairapy, all done by Bri (my hair looks so natural and healthy - I can’t believe I am posting my beauty secrets!) She always “deep conditions” my hair after color which leaves my hair shiny and feeling full. I think this treatment sets her apart from stylists I have worked with in the past. Most important to me is working with a stylist who incorporates my ideas into the final “product”. Bri is that kind of stylist. I highly recommend Bri and Thairapy PDX.

Wow! Everyone was so chill and welcoming! The vibe was definitely perfect. Extremely Queer & Trans Friendly. Ali was incredible <3! I recently got hair extensions and really needed a shape & cut. It came out even better than I could have imagined. They have knowledgeable experts on staff that gave me a lot of hair care information. Everyone genuinely felt sincere. Thanks Yall <3

I’ve been going to Phoenix at ThairapyPDX for a few years now, and I have been blown away by her skill, professionalism, and the gorgeous results every time. She has installed tape ins, clip ins, and keratin bonds over the years and I’ve had an amazing experience with each type. 10/10 would recommend!

I love my hair after seeing Nilza! I've struggled with my hair for as long as I can remember. It's thick and curly in some areas, thin and straight in others, and grows slowly. Nilza listened to me explain my challenges and goals and created a plan to meet my wants and needs. I made an appointment with Ali based on her beautiful photos of her work on IG and I am beyond grateful to have found her! I have spent the last 3 years trying to find someone to lighten my hair while keeping it looking natural and Ali did just that! She is super knowledgeable about hair, color, technique and really just life in general! I look forward to coming back! I love my hair!!

I’m here to leave credit where it’s due! These ladies know what they’re doing! I was not expecting this level of experience considering it’s Portland, however, they’re really educated here and left my appointment feeling fabulous! To give a little background, I’m a traveling nurse who’s had a lot of work done all over the us and it’s been a struggle finding a good salon in Oregon. I was anxious walking in but I’m so grateful I booked because these girls have so much experience from all over and it just shows. 🩵

Phoenix is amazing! I originally came to see her as I had just moved to PDX and needed extension maintenance. She was so patience and listened to my needs and delivered perfect style. She has also been doing my color since I moved here and does a great job matching my color expectations. When I took my extensions out, I needed a fresh cut. My hair is not easy to cut and she did a fantastic job with layers and taking weight off as I had requested. It’s been 2 months and the cut is only settling in better and better each day! She is not only a great stylist, but also a great human, I highly recommend phoenix for all your hair needs and wants!

UPDATE: I left a voice message after I got a response from the owner from the Google review below. No one called me back. Which is fine. On the VM I explained it didn’t make sense for me to come back into the salon, especially since there wasn’t much that could done with my hair except to chop it all off & go super short. It’s been over a month since my initial visit. Unfortunately my hair is not getting better as it grows out. The way the stylist razored my hair, it looks like I have breakage & major split ends - that my hair is damaged from over processing it. The only thing I’ve done in the past 4 years is an occasional trim. The top layer is razored so short I have no choice to but to wait to clean it up . Every time I look in the mirror I think how unhealthy and how terrible my hair is. It’s hard for me to believe the stylist thought razoring so short was the best choice. Especially since i voiced my concerns about my hair’s texture changing as i get older. It’s more dry and wirey. Normally I wouldn’t care because hair grows out. But it really stinks when it looks like I have really damaged hair when I know it’s not. There’s very little I can do except to straighten it everyday. Which is not low maintenance as requested. I was better off leaving it as is. Unfortunately I can’t undo what’s done. Again.. all the reviews I read. Thairapy seems to do amazing extensions. But consider other options for a cut that’s not a basic trim. INITIAL REVIEW : I should’ve gone to another salon. I went in for a haircut… i showed pictures with shoulder length shags. Letting my stylist know I’m super low maintenance. Just a wash & go style. Which wasn’t exactly what I got. Unfortunately I also let her talk me out of bangs. I left Thairpy not loving my hair and immediately washed it after, to see what it really looked like. The cut is much shorter and not even close to the shag i requested. I’ve had this cut before - so I know it is possible. My biggest issue is my cut is not low maintenance. It maybe uniformed but air dries terribly. Going from using no hair products the last decade… I just ordered products. Thairpy specializes in extensions. My stylist was sweet - but I don’t think the cut I was requesting was in her wheelhouse. She had great reviews on Yelp & Google. But after watching & talking to her. Her responses to my questions didn’t make me super confident she knew what she was doing. I was already in the chair & we’d cut off 6-8 inches. Looking back - I should’ve stopped her when my gut told me. I’m 💯 sure they do great extensions & are better with longer hair & uncomplicated cuts. Thankfully hair grows back & in 6-8 months maybe it won’t be so bad.

Ali is amazing! She listened to my needs and wants. She did a color correction, full highlight, grey coverage and cut. I feel and look 10 years younger. Her smile and laugh is contagious.

I came here for an extension consult last Monday with Bri. I recently moved here from LA so I had hair already previously purchased with my stylist there that I was looking to see if I could have installed. The hair I had was from Priscilla Valles’ collab and was real human hair. I understand that some salons aren’t comfortable using hair that comes from outside their salon, which is totally understandable and I’d love that transparency upfront, but instead I was met with an extremely rude and unprofessional response. After asking, she was looking at the extensions I brought in and making offensive comments questioning if the hair was even real hair, that they don’t even look like good extensions… yeah the vibe was pretty much indirectly telling me I’m cheap. Little did she know I’m a young attorney from LA.. I have money… I just happened to have pre-purchased extensions with my previous stylist over there that I wanted to make use of… It was super obvious she was making excuses to not use the hair, despite there being nothing wrong with the hair…guessing because they make money off of you purchasing the hair through them. I would have been ok if it was a no because I understand stylists are trained with specific brands, but I’m not sure why she couldn’t have nicely stated that up front rather than indirectly insulting me. Nonetheless, makes me think if it were someone who needed to be more money conscious, especially considering today’s inflation and they were met with such a response… so disappointing and disrespectful.

I get nervous in new situations, so I had been hesitant to return to the salon after my stylist moved to Montana but Amali did a stunning job on my hair. My hair needed some serious love and she helped me bring it back to my natural color and gave me a hair cut I love. I’m a bit of a shy person so I sincerely appreciated how she was able to read the room, and tried to make me as comfortable as possible. I also really appreciate her taking the extra time to inquire about if I’d like it styled, products, etc. Just a refreshing reminder that good salons and great stylists still exist ❤️ Will definitely be back to visit Amali soon!

Juliana at Thairapy's Vancouver Salon did an amazing job! She took the time to thoroughly become acquainted with me - my preferences, my hair, and most of all, my expectations. I love the magnificent "new" color of my hair and the cut is perfection. Thank you, Juliana!! I'd give 5 stars except the Vagaro appointment process was annoying - I received at least 6 reminders for my appointment and was told to arrive with "clean, dry hair". Weird.

After a hair cut disaster and seeing another stylist to "fix" my hair cute new "do", I realized that I needed to start back from square one....which is getting the hair back to where is started, a chin-length bob. Phoenix was wonderful in assessing my hair, seeing what I was looking for in extensions, then coming up with a plan and going over pricing before booking. I was so elated to know that she leaves blocks of time in her calendar for new clients and that I am able to get my extensions next week. I am looking forward to having my hair back! UPDATE: I don't have much more to say then AMAZING. Phoenix is a magician. Made sure my extensions color matched before adding, made sure to cut my hair to integrate them beautifully and style before leaving. Humans... whether it's a hair disaster or you want longer, fuller locks do not hesitate going in for a consultation with Phoenix or anyone at Thairapy!

Due to health issues I haven’t had my hair cut or colored in over 6 months. I was nervous as my hair is fragile. I made an appointment with Laik and decided to take off about 18” and go from long to a bob. Laik was gentle and took my concerns into consideration, she took time to listen to what I want and did an amazing job on my haircut. I decided to come back the following week for a blonding to blend my grays. She took her time and my hair is absolutely beautiful. I am so in love with my hair. I 1,000% will be back to visit Laik and recommend her to anyone looking for a new stylist.

I have never had such an AMAZING hair experience as I have with Phoenix. I was nervous about finding someone new to do my keratin extensions,(also hair in general) as I knew I liked them but also had some troubling experiences in the past. Phoenix exceeded my expectations, truly went above and beyond. My hair color, cut, extensions….EVERYTHING…. just what I envisioned and more. She has really truly perfected her art, she takes her time and really cares. Not only is she talented but such a sweet soul so fun to work with.

I was hesitant to post this because no one wants their stylist to be harder to book with but Bryce is so awesome and I feel like he deserves the recognition. He has the perfect balance of respecting my wishes and what I hope to accomplish while also telling me when something won’t look right. I alway leave feeling so happy and the one time my hair faded a little too quickly he immediately rectified it. I also look forward to my monthly appointments just to catch up cause he’s so fun to talk to. Definitely book with Bryce if you’re on the hunt for a good stylist

Lyndsay Maderis is the queen of extensions. I moved to Portland almost 3 years ago and didn’t know where to go for my extension removal and application. Unfortunately found another hair extension person who literally destroyed my hair but luckily was able to find lyndsay and she saved my hair. She is not only an expert in the field but also a very kind hearted, caring, and passionate individual who goes above and beyond to meet her clients needs. Pheonix is a total gem and the best at her craft that she clearly has so much passion for. She spent time in our consultation really informing me about which extension method would be best for my specific type of hair and what would fit the criteria that I wanted. I was looking for discrete extensions for my fine thinning hair. This was my first time getting extensions, so I was a bit nervous. She tailored the color and extensions so perfectly, by the end of the whole process I felt like a new person. I love my new hair and could not be happier with the care Pheonix puts into her craft, and if you’re intrigued by the world of extensions, you can really pick her brain for all the interesting inside details and knowledge that she keeps.
