April is a solid stylist and definitely is going to be my regular from here on out! She asked me more questions than any other stylist has about my hair care, lifestyle, and fashion needs, and worked with me to determine a perfect cut. She is so very friendly and personable – I wanted to stay longer! Her space is lovely and comfortable. Best of all, my cut looks great! I highly recommend April.

Yes, you should book April. I just got my hair cut this morning after a little over a year of looking for a hairdresser (mine moved to Seattle). I showed her a couple of pictures of what I wanted and described what I was looking for. She also asked what I had not liked from previous haircuts, in this showing how experienced she is. I got exactly what I wanted and I'm so happy that my look for a new hairdresser is over!

Y’all April listened carefully to what I wanted and delivered! she did amazing made me feel at home loved her vibe. And my hair cut let me tell you not a lot of people get it right. But she did and I absolutely llllooovvvvveeedddd my hair I will be coming back 10/10 bonus my hubby loved it ❤️

April is absolutely amazing at what she does! I’m new to Austin and was looking for a new hairstylist and got really lucky finding her near my workplace. April is both personable and a total professional — she was meticulous in making my haircut look good and gave some great tips on products I could use moving forward. I’ve lived in Austin a few years now but wasn’t sure I would find a salon that both fit my budget and whose stylists I clicked with. So glad I found someone trustworthy and talented like April!

April is an artist with her scissors! She's been in the industry for 16 years and it clearly shows. She cut my bf's wavy hair and it looks amazing. His curls are no longer flat and his hair looks fuller. I highly recommend her for curly haircuts!

I got my haircut from April Ruiz. Hands down, the best cut I’ve had since I moved to Austin. I brought a photo in to show her what I wanted. She made the cut, then talked with me as she finished to make sure I was getting what I wanted. Since then, she’s also cut my wife’s hair as well as two daughters. She can do it all. April provides a service that is friendly, engaging, and professional. April’s service (alone) is worth the review for the entire business.

We as a family collectively LOVE April! She cuts our youngest tiny human all the way to our oldest human! Scheduling is easy and she always makes us happy! She’s patient and understands the fear of change. she cut 6 inches from my son’s hair and she did it gradually, it took a while to grow out and he was in need of a change. She knew how worried he was when she started cutting and she always checked in with him (he’s 17) If you are looking for a seasoned, skilled spot, April is it! We all love it here!

April is delightful! I came to Austin on business and searched for a hair stylist that specializes in curly hair. I chose The Alcove... When I met her, she was so inviting and once I sat in the chair, she examined my hair with such care and determined the texture, etc. and offered her ideas. I told her what I desired and after much conversation while attending to my hair with a colour and cut; I was a very happy person with a new look!! April, thank you! You are a gem!

April is incredible. She has been cutting hair for almost 20 years and she can do it all. Her clientele is diverse and she makes every effort to understand exactly what you desire for your haircut and style. I look forward to talking and interacting with her as much as I like the results. I recently went to The Alcove Hair Studio for the first time. It will definitely not be my last! I have curly hair and I feel like it's always difficult to find someone who knows how to handle curls and April knew exactly what to do! She is patient and takes the time to listen and understand. I’ve lived in Austin for seven years, and April is the first barber I’ve really stuck with. Not only are the haircuts great - she even helped get my beard to a point where my wife decided she was ok with me keeping it - but the experience is A+. I’m not usually in love with talking the whole time during a haircut, but April makes you comfortable and you have a great time while you’re there. The space is clean and quiet, and I’ve never left disappointed in the haircut or beard trim. I can recommend April enough.
