I have to tell of the wonderful job Stylist Nada, at your Gowanus location, did with cutting my hair on 1/18/25. Nada is definitely gifted--and you can tell that haircutting/styling is her passion. She is intuitive and understands what the client wants done--she did exactly what I wanted, and I couldn't be happier!! So, a big thank you!! If you're looking for a great haircut--let Nada cut your hair!!

wow!! I’ve never had such a great haircutting experience!! From start to finish it was wonderful, the receptionist was so lovely, and Harley gave me the best cut!! Can’t recommend enough!!

I was turning into Cousin It for real. Jessica listened to my ideas and helped guide me to a cut that looks fresh while still maintaining the comfort of my long hair. She is newer in town but her vibe and style are a great fit at The Bird House. I’ll be back!

Jessica did an amazing job on my cut and color. She listened and gave helpful suggestions as to what would look the best. I appreciated all of the time and thought she put into my appointment. I love my new hair. I will definitely be going back.

One of my favorite finds in this neighborhood. The salon is dreamy, huge green plants, super lofty feel, and the entire staff makes you feel special every time you walk in. Irina is my curly cut go to, and she's been bringing my hair back to life after a little neglect on my part (after a bad experience elsewhere). My curls are fuller, getting longer in a healthy way, and always leave with the best smelling products!! 10 out of 10, Ive already got one of my other curly coworkers hooked! Don't mind the industrial door on the street, just walk up the stairs and you'll be in hair nirvana in one flight.

Had the best first time at Bird House. Karen was so sweet and did an incredible job transforming my hair. She knew exactly what I had requested and it came out beautifully. I felt like I could trust her right away. I will be recommending this place to my girlfriends.

I have always received exceptional service from the Birdhouse, first at Gowanus and now at the Bushwick location. It’s a warm and friendly environment and Ash is simply the best for cuts, blowouts, color, conversation, etc. I was introduced to Ash by a friend and now literally all of our friends and friends of friends see her. I have 3C curls and she taught me exactly what to do to get my hair the healthiest it’s ever been in my life!

I've been going to Birdhouse for almost a year now, always to my curly hair GURU - the one and only Rachel Paz. She has a magic touch when it comes to making me love my hair and helping me execute whatever vision I have at the moment flawlessly. From shags to mullets to an edgy trim to beautiful color - Rachel always gets what I'm going for and never ever makes me feel like I'm getting boring overpriced hair.

At the recommendation of a friend, I went to Bird House for the first time for a hair cut. Their booking process is very easy, with lots of different options. I'm obsessed with one of their offerings: "Emo Cut" ("This cut doesn't cost any more than a standard haircut [unless you're making a huge change, in which case, book "transformational cut"], but we want to be able to care for you during these important moments. Leave us a note when you book with whatever details you want to share.") The team bios also make it really easy to tell who specializes in what. My hair's not curly enough for a curly cut, but I booked with a curly specialist, Harley, and she was AMAZING. She has amazing loose curls herself and she was SO knowledgeable. The shape she gave my hair looks great, and she gave me lots of great tips for leveling up my daily routine (but in realistic way). I've also usually had stylists dry my hair straight after a cut, but Harley did a "curly set" and omg my curls have never looked better! (I went home and had impromptu professional headshots done to memorialize!) The salon itself is the most peaceful space with lots of space, great light, plants, spa water. Like, just a pleasure to spend time there. The cut was more than I'm used to spending, but I felt like I'd just gotten my first "grown up" hair cut - definitely felt like the quality of the whole experience justified the price.

Finding amazing salons that don’t rob you is hard to find in NYC/BK, but this salon does both. Gorgeous interior, quality products, kind and attentive professionals. Truly been a blessing. I had been searching for years for a go-to spot and after finding Harley, I will never be leaving. She is a perfectionist, understands my hair, and listens to my questions! ✨ She specializes in thick, curly, natural hair & having all 3 I am lucky to have her.

I cannot recommend Kammi and the Bird House enough. Kammi is incredibly kind and inclusive and has an eerie way of understanding just what I'm looking for with both cut and color. She can kind of fill in the blanks of what I am saying. She gives me beautiful soft layers that take the weight out of my hair and great bangs that allow me to style 60s/70s, modern or somewhere in between. She also absolutely nailed some subtle dimension in my hair that is a bit of that mushroom brown color -- enough variation to show off the wave, but still definitely brunette. Everyone at the salon is very creative, warm, funny and non-pretentious and they make you feel so welcome and cared for. I appreciate the astrology references in the extensive and thoughtful bios (Kammi is a Pisces which is perfect for me as a Cancer-- but i also picked her because she does era styling) and that they offer quiet haircuts and gender affirming haircuts. Something to make everyone feel welcome!

I went to Bird House (Gowanus) to do a dramatic change from my natural blonde hair to a “natural red”. I had my consultation with Fiona who was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. I was super nervous (but excited) as I have NEVER dyed my hair before but I had a vision and Fiona totally brought that vision to life! I can’t believe how natural it looks. Fiona truly did SUCH an amazing job. Not only did she create magic with my hair but she made the process so enjoyable. She’s an incredible hairstylist and truly a wonderful human. Fiona and all the others at the salon made me feel so welcome and beautiful before & after the transformation. We ended up covering one of the mirrors so the finished product was a surprise until the very end… and I was SHOOK. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone looking to go red!

I went to get bangs and I’m truly disappointed. I’m giving it a 2/5 just because it’s cute inside and the stylist, Gianna, seemed sweet but the cut was not worth it at all. I’m gonna be fixing them up myself but the whole thing took 10 minutes and felt rushed. I couldn’t even get my hair washed. I wasn’t even sure what to say. I asked if I could take the towel with me to the bathroom to wipe off the hair on my face better and the response I got was “you can leave that here” so they didn’t even let me take it 12 feet into the shop, as if I was gonna steal it? Yeah, won’t be returning.

My stylist is Katelyn, and I’m so happy to have found this salon! I’ve not had the greatest experience with haircuts in the past, because my hair is super thick and sometimes it feels like stylists don’t know how to manage it. Katelyn is great at listening to what I’m asking for and explaining any changes that need to be made in order to make it work for my hair. My loved ones have complimented my cuts, saying they are the best I’ve ever gotten! The salon is also really cute, and being able to relax during a quiet cut elevates the experience for me.

Posting this late since whoops! Came here on August 24 before my baby shower and they did a great job. There was a communication mix up, but the manager quickly solved the problem and they took care of me even when I was a little late. Great place! Highly recommend for hair styles when you have an event!

I'm a regular at Bird House Gowanus. I see Fiona for color who is amazing and takes such meticulous care of my hair every 4 weeks when I see her. She will also give you the BEST shampoo of your life. Kara does my curly cut and she is an absolute artist. Love this place.

I don’t write reviews much but I felt inclined to after this haircut, by far the best haircut I’ve ever had. A little pricey but honestly so, so worth it. I cannot recommend Katelyn more. If you’re looking for layers or a shag of any kind this is your stylist. Usually after a few washes I typically find my layers hard to style but it’s been a few weeks and I’ve never liked my hair more. Thank you for helping me love my hair again!! :)

Kammi is wonderful! She is talented, kind, and really helps you assess what you think you want vs want you can handle. In my case, I don’t have much patience or talent for styling my hair and she advised me on the best cut for my hair and lifestyle. Highly recommend her, and Birdhouse!

Kara is the best hair stylist I've ever had. That's really saying something as I'm not young! As anyone with short hair knows, how your hair grows in depends on the cut, i.e., the hair stylist's skill. Without exception, every time Kara has styled my hair I have been delighted by the way it maintains the style.

Oh! My! God! I am not normally one to write reviews but absolutely had to leave one for Kammi and the Bird House Gowanus team. I’ve been trying to go back to my natural hair color for a little over a year and have been through the trenches trying to get there. Kammi did a consultation with me before even booking the appointment and actually really listened to what I wanted. During the appointment she toned my hair multiple times until it matched my reference photo, consulting the other stylists for feedback, and was communicating with me what she was doing and why the entire time. Incredible attn to detail. She did not touch the regrowth from my roots and the color the rest of my hair was and the result is so seamless you cannot tell my hair was dyed. She’s also just a lovely person who is fun and easy to chat with! I have never in my life had such a great experience at a hair salon and will be coming back to her as long as I live in NYC! Could not recommend her enough.

I booked a last-minute appointment with Zara yesterday and had the best experience. Everyone I interacted with in the salon was friendly and kind. Zara was so fast, professional, kind, and extremely talented! I love my haircut and will absolutely be going back.

Today was my 1st visit to The Bird House Salon. I was warmly welcomed and taken right away (a little early!) Alyssa was my stylist and I can't say enough great things! She and I spoke about what I wanted before getting started. After telling her how I wanted to change the color slightly and what type of cut I wanted, she explained how she would make it happen. Did she ever! The color is natural and the cut is perfect! My hair feels healthier and looks great! I also have to thank Erin, who gave me an awesome scalp massage! Next appointment already booked!
