My allegiance to The Calvano goes back over 50 years to when Salvador was a wee child and his dad, Sal Sr. , was my stylist at Cutters Hair. Salvador and his beautiful wife, Patty, have curated a glorious salon with an ambiance that brings peace and joy. Sal, Patty and staff come with such grand expertise. For someone like me, who is so particular about my tresses, I feel perfectly comfortable with telling them,”Do what needs to be done because I trust you.” They’ve never ever disappointed me.

Patty is an amazing hair stylist. I personally dread haircuts, but everything she does is extremely comfortable immediately. You don't ever have to worry about "letting it grow out" or an awkward phase in between styles. Her and her husband are also incredibly friendly people. Plus, their hair products line is to die for. I don't plan on using any other shampoo or conditioner ever again.

i played baseball for the Chicago Cubs & LA Dodgers been all over the world and Patty is the absolute the best hair stylist i have the pleasure to meet. Do yourself a favor go see her NO ONE better... Not to mention one of the best people out there you will ever meet. Cant wait to get back

Salvador cut my hair. I have curly hair and wanted a curly styled hair cut, he made the cut, no pun intended. Conversation was good and the cut was awesome I was very happy with it and would definitely recommend this place to others. Probably will go back and get one more layer cut. 😁

Got a root touch up and within 2days noticed greys peeking thru. I texted stylist which she said that it was regrowth (mind you i didnt wash my hair for 3days how could it be regrowth?) ive always gone about 6 weeks with little growth 😐. I Wanted to try this salon Because I was having allergy issues with oher salons colors but to no avail had both an allergy reaction to the color and looks like the color didnt take. Ill be going back to verde, long drive but at least the color lasted & no reaction!

I found this place thanks to my neighbors. I love coming here for the quality haircut, conversations and atmosphere! The owners do everything they can to make you feel comfortable and welcome. We love supporting local businesses in Phoenix and they certainly deserve a try. Check them out!

Was out in PHX back in February for work and needed to get my hair done for an event. I called and they squeezed me in. I went in just for a blow out, but Patricia was really knowledgeable. She recommended some color for my hair with a glaze to make it look healthier. My hair is so brittle and I'm really self conscious about it. I got the color glaze and a very minimal trim. Blowout etc and afterward I felt so amazing! My hair looked awesome and I felt like a million bucks going to my client meeting. I wish I had a place like this near me. The ambiance was really chill too. Not your typical hair salon.

Literally the best hair cut I have ever had- no joke. Salvador is a genius with naturally curly hair (which I used to hate that I have). He cut it perfect and taught me some tricks on how to style the curls. Now I rock my curly hair everyday and love it! Total confidence booster. Salvador is also an awesome person - super chill and easy to get along. I will be a forever client!

I had the best experience at this salon. This was my first time there and was impressed from the moment I walked in. Very polite, professional and made me feel at ease. I was going to a very expensive salon for many years, paying close to 300.00 at a time. When I sat in Patricia's chair and what we talked about on what I'd like and what she thought would be good for my hair it was spot on. This is the best salon, I won't be going anywhere else. And I loved Hermosa. Lol. Hope I spelled her name write. Thank you again Patricia for an amazing, cut, color and style. You ROCK

I have been meaning to write this review for over 2 years! I am 44 years old and a little gray. I came to Salvador with bleach, fried hair that I was convinced would never grow and I didn't know how to keep my blonde without using bleach. Well, Salvador taught me that there is no use in bleaching "gray" hair. It has already lost its pigment. I don't know why I never thought of that myself, because when I say it out loud now it makes perfect sense. So, we stopped bleaching my hair. Salvador started to only color the regrowth and leave the rest of my hair untouched. We also did a nice big trim to take off all the fried hair. He also taught me hair care tips such as combing the conditioner in my hair in the shower, not blow-drying every day, showing me how to wear up in bun/ponytail and eating good and drinking plenty of water. I basically shut up and did exactly what he said and am happy to say that my hair feels healthy, thick and long like it did when I was 18! This is so awesome, I really didn't think that my hair would grow past a certain point, or look this great....boy, I was wrong. The only thing I had to learn was to be patient. I did damage to my hair for 20+ years, it wasn't going to fix itself overnight....I have never met anyone as more passionate about hair than Salvador. I respect him and trust him. And, just love Patty too!!!

I can't imagine ever getting my haircut anywhere else ever. This place was so relaxed, Salvador and Patti were awesome. If they served beer and coffee I would never leave. Next time I may just bring my own and hang out all day, I get the feeling they wouldn't mind. I'm sure we all get the same feeling from her but I want to state that the girl with the 1 star review seem's like the sort of difficult person who just goes around finding reasons to give 1 star reviews. I had such a great feeling from Salvador's that I am making it my personal mission to make sure they are so busy they have to start charging me more for my haircut.

Salvador is AMAZING! I enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the salon, visiting with their adorable dog, and my hair went from frump to fabulous. I've received so many compliments. I am very glad I picked his salon on my trip to Arizona and am totally satisfied with my experience. The mint shampoo and moisturizing conditioner smell fantastic and I will be ordering more since I live far away. I am tempted to keep taking trips to Arizona just to have this artist sculpt my hair. Salvador and Patricia made my trip extra special.

At “Salvador Calvano Hair” in Phoenix, you will get an organic, natural haircut. I know I do. Salvador began cutting my hair in 2007, and I’ve been driving a hundred miles round-trip from Casa Grande ever since. He’s nursed my hair from medium length to long and, most recently, to a chin-length bob. The real test of a great haircut for me is to be able to wash and go without blow-dry, gel, mousse, hairspray, or any other control agent. My haircuts by Salvador inevitably ace the test. Rather than impose a particular style, he pays attention (let’s just say he listens) to hair. The result—whether long, medium, or short—is an excellent style that requires no fuss. Something Salvador does that few are confident—or talented—enough to do is cut hair while it is dry. In so doing, he sees hair as it truly is and can cut and shape accordingly. All wet hair looks pretty much the same, but all dry hair is individually unique. Salvador welcomes—indeed embraces—the challenge of working with hair the way it naturally presents. As for color, the answer is yes, but it is done masterfully, highlighting and enhancing what is already there—or should be. In fact, hair is never over-processed with product at Salvador’s salon. Instead, the goal is vibrant and vigorous hair that not only shines, but breathes. This approach is important at any age, but even more-so when one is over 60 as I am. My hair has never looked healthier than it does now. Drove 2 hours (around trip) to be treated like dirt! I brought 6 pictures of the cut I wanted, not what he liked so he didn't want to cut my hair. I think he just wanted to go home early! I think he needs to take a course in customer service! For the price I want a cut and style, not a lecture on what a poor job the person that cut my hair before him did. 09/01 - In response to the statement by Mr. Calvano. Yes, I had been to him in 2005 when I moved here, we discussed I came in and liked my hair, but due to my job travel and now back in the valley. As for bad work previously, I couldn't express to him enough that I loved by previous hair stylist however she was no longer in the business due to cancer. I am shocked and amazed that Mr. Calvano would blantly lie to hopefully gain future business. My statements are true and exact. My husband and I both agreed with him that at least he didn't cut my hair in 'his' decided upon cut and take my money. Thanking him though really...drove 2 hours with husband & baby. I just think Mr. Calvano needs to remember its my hair and I want to look nice. I am spending the money so wanting it to look good shouldn't be something bad. I went the next day to a VERY talented artist and got the exact cut and she was shocked but not surprised at the treatment I received. Ladies just don't let this man bully you into something you don't like or he thinks look's good because that is the only cut he knows!
